Unable to update NA/EU character list??

I was having an issue with logging in, then after fighting with that for about 20 minutes I get to the start screen where the "Start" option is blurred out.

Now, I finally log in AND I'm able to select "Start" but I get a message saying

"Unable to update NA/EU character list"



Just wanted to see who many other players were getting this message, and I'm sure this will be fixed soon.

Same here.. was kicked out from dungeon while fighting last boss...

this is really getting annoying....

Having same issues. This is all due to the server's being full.

Just got the same error now. Oh well.

Haven't been able to see the NA/EU list since 8 am

This is alternating between 2002 and not being able to see the NA/EU list. My beta (error 3102) toon on JP is letting me see the JP list just fine....

This is getting old.......all i want to do is play....but sadly i cant

Yeah, been that way for over an hour, i'm finally able to get my character to load, but it's slow, then of course battling 1017 or getting boot from log in queue.

I haven't been able to see the NA/EU world list since yesterday afternoon. So much for fixing things.

It's pretty dire, but I can't say I'm surprised given that it's the first weekend since release. Gives me time to read my book! :D

I don't really have an issue about waiting to play, (I have to work all the time and I've waited to play this game for months already)

I'd just like to see an acknowledgement or ETA about fixing this issue.

I got kicked from the game. Now I am back to trying to update NA/EU world list.

These problems are exactly why people stay logged in the game. Its a cycle of "Oh I FINALLY got in! There is no way I am ever logging out to go through that again!!" Which causes problems for the rest of us. Which make it take forever to login, which repeats the cycle.

Cant wait for either AFK login kicks. OR for updated data centers so this isnt an issue anymore.

It wont load my NA / EU servers -.-
either that or connection to lobby fails and gives some error

Still cannot get the NA/EU Character server list. And there is no report of a problem.

This is starting to turn into an everyday thing and it is not alright. When they start charging for this the issues better be resolved I don't spend my hard earned money on things that are constantly broken with no update on the problem.

I'm having this issue as well. Hopefully they let us know what the heck is going on.

Wife logs in PS3 in 5 minutes, i'm still at this an hour later. /fume

even after they add more servers, the problem will not get any better. New people will go to the new servers, but people who have characters on the old servers will still see the problem. The AFK people are the problem. I admit, when I finally get in, I will stay in. It is the only way to to stay off these forums. :)

I wish I knew why they allow infinite AFK.

I am having this issue as well... guessing it's global and it's really starting to alienate the fanbase with no acknowledgement and no sense of urgency to fix the issue. I convinced a lot of friends to try this game, and while it is an amazing game while playable, this issue is really pushing them away.

I get this error also. What is the "trick" to get it finally appear. Keep retrying or does it eventually appear? lol

This is crazy i still cant get on to the game due to the unable to update NA/EU character list!! Please fix!!

If the list fails to load you HAVE to exit out and restart the game. It will never load correctly once it fails. Very annoying.

If you think about how long this has been happening, It shows you just how much "Value" this company has for its players. I have seen many a game launch with technology that pales in comparison to what is available to run servers, computer infrastructures, and storage capacity, not to mention the ability of computer designers, game creators and so on and they managed to fix errors preventing the Majority of people from even logging in. This company seems to have put all its eggs in the Japanese Basket solely, and well if that is the case they should just say so instead of giving all the fake apologies to try to string people along until they decide to maybe fix an error that is daily costing them sub after sub, an error mind you that would have been caught had Open beta been longer than three days and allowed the servers to be PROPERLY tested, especially since this is a relaunch of a game which put a sour sour taste in many a mouth. I mean think about it, blowing a relaunch, plus with the history of Games that tanked for this company....... It seems more to me like they are waiting to see how many people stop playing to ease server issues than doing what a Good Company does and 1) Buying everything you need to fix the problem immediately, 2) Putting a team together to go fix said problem Immediately, 3) actually giving a crap that you are losing subscribers who would rather move on than "wait" the couple weeks you say you need to fix server issues that only encompass the NA/EU region...... This is what happens when customer service becomes an after thought and not a priority. So please tell us, if you cant afford to fix the problem, if you don't really care what the NA/EU players think or if they play or not, because I know there is enough Technology out there for this to have been fixed much sooner than possibly next week sometime. You can keep having Yoshida get on blowing smoke up our behinds to try to make us feel like you guys really care, but whats the old saying "an action is worth a thousand words". I loved FFXI, I was so excited about this game, but now all I feel is frustration, I get enough of that every day without having on of my best Stress Relief Activities become one of the problems, the only difference, I paid to have this stress so hey thanks.

1- error 1017 (THIS IS NORMAL and has now been acceptable, as i spam zero key)
2- error 2002 ( WTF is this one? but ohh well lets continue, ohh wait, it closed the entire launcher)
3- error "Cannot Update NA/EU character List"

I was getting the same problem, apparently trying to log on a JP server will eventually let you see NA/EU servers as well. Now, I am trying to log and i get error 10102 connection with server lost ...

It's not a game when you can't play.
