Spammers/Gil Sellers

The game hasn't been out very long and they are already invading our game. We as players need better tools to help combat this growing threat.

Reporting these gil sellers manually through the Support Desk is a drawn out affair and is very annoying.

I propose to square that a system needs to be put in place that would easily allow us to report these dastardly creatures. This most awesome of features would include:

1. Add an option to the chat name click menu to report as a spammer/gil seller.
2. Automatically add reported gil seller to your /blist.
3. Remove Gil sellers text from the chat window.
4. Automatically ban a character and/or their account from even using the chat system if a certain amount of players have reported them for spamming until SE can investigate them.

This issue is going to get a lot bigger in the coming months and we need the right tools to fight back.

it would take less time out of playing by reporting this way then having to go through the support desk.

I had only one when i was playing but they were very bad, clearly very aggressive..they used yellow text which blinded the chat, I reported them but agree we need an instant button or tool to get them OUT of the text, if we set a stern wall up for them now they wont keep trying. They have ruined many games. Now is the time to eliminate them completely.

I just use the 'harassment' option in the support desk feature. I include the name of the player, the time, how they contacted me (/tell /shout yadda...) and also where I was.

Which does absolutely nothing for asdfa dsafas or his 100 other brothers.

Agreed. One time name click ---> report/blacklist would be great.

It takes a while to report them with the current system. Especially since those bastards deliberately set up names that are difficult to remember. Like Efgbhfg Fgbh or something similar. There are enough advertisements for any given thing in the real world-- must we deal with them in this one as well?

Well until I am provided with a more convenient and effective way of reporting them, I will continue to do what I am.

also that they do not count to your 200 total for blacklist since i really do want to have a black list for people that are annoying. not the black list resulting in it being a list of gil sellers.

another thing that might be helpful is when you right click that name and report them as a gil seller that it records the text or the message as proof that you were getting something along that line.

BUMP! So much yes to this OP. Either they are spamming up the /yell or /shout chat box or sending me /tells every so often. You have to go out of your way report players like this and it should be much easier to do so. I do not understand why you cannot. Well we're on about this, I think there should be a "contact a GM" button somewhere.

SE please implement these things especially a way to add an option to the chat name click menu to report as a spammer/gil seller.

Don't know which tools they just started using, but all people from our company received the same whisper at the same time. Even saw it at home blinking at the same time on 2 screens/accounts. So they just must have a tool to whisper @ a whole company. And the damn missfunction of the chat, that you can scroll up, but if you click anywhere else (e.g. support desk) it scrolls back to the end. So write names on a paper and then report them... don't get me wrong but in this game's chat functionality.... it often reminds me to the stone-age of internet chats.

What I find ironic is that the gold spammers are still able to create more characters and that SE is only deleting their characters and not banning their accounts.

Agreed. Blacklisting is so cumbersome.

However, I would love to see at least one gill seller/spammer because that would me that I've actually logged into the game.

BUMP the launch was a tad rushed...we could use a big patch to fix some of the problems caused by this (i.e. afkers, spammer, etc.)

What I do is use the option to send them a tell, then you can copy the name directly from chat and paste into the blacklist or harrassment report or w/e (ctrl+c/ctrl+v). But yeah about the company thing - now you mention it FC members do seem to be quoting names that have whispered me almost at the same time.

Even automatically deleting the name from your blacklist once said character is eventually banned/deleted would be helpful.

Having a quick function to report a player for such things would be a great idea to roll out at some point. Every main city I have been in lately I have seen the spam from gil sellers which is quickly followed by /tell's. It's rather annoying... But Blacklist is useful!

This is of course when I can actually log onto the game...

Had 4 tells in 10 minutes from one person, each attempt to: /blist add firstname surname - resulted in a system message saying 'cannot add target' and when trying to /blist through the /blist menu, system message said "cannot find character" about 5-6 times before it finally stuck.

In short, i'm wasting time trying to /blist these annoying people!!

Another addition would be to automatically ban a character and or their account from even chatting if a certain amount of players have reported them for spamming until SE can investigate them.

I would love for someone to invent a device to reach through my monitor and grab someone by the neck, that would solve everything right there

With all the old gil floating around from 1.0 that wasn't destroyed, all the gil sellers had to do was resume selling that gil.

Allow us to kill BOT on the SPOT. Give us authority !! Let us kill them on spot, instead petit to GM for further actions.! =D ( I love to do it for free!!).

Seriously I did put some suggestion to SE to consider:

1) Implementing questions to all character within 1-2 hour randomly and who failed to answers is either AFK/ BOT. Banned them , put them in Bahamut mouth for days!!
2) Grand us power to salvage these punnies Gold Stalker with " ALERT" mark on their head or make their character Red , so we can kill on the spot and maybe grab their items too.! XD ( Please let it be this one!!)
It save lots time that way from SE ( GM no need to many jobs, systems do) , we are very happy to volunteer kill that scum-gold for you in free of charge! XD

Here is a valid point!!

Bump, come on guys lets try and get this resolved.

Maybe until there can be the technical fixes there are a few GMs in each city to instantly remove the spammers/RMTs

I agree soooo much on this.
Please give us better tools to combat all the bots and gil sellers.

Have you tried right clicking on their name, choose send tell, then copy the name, goto /blist <paste>? This is the quickest and most accurate way to blist them. They are getting craftier as of late where they use I's and L's repeatedly in their name or surname.

WTB option to rightclick / add to blacklist.

selecting is also possible in chat without using /tell. Highlight their names by left-clicking on the colon after the surname, then move cursor to highlight the whole name. ctrl+c to copy. Open social window, go to blacklist tab, add name, paste (ctrl+v). cross check the spelling to make sure, then add. voila.

I currently have 9 gil spammers on my blacklist. I've been playing since Phase 4. They started showing up during EA (not sure tho).

As previously suggested, add the option to right click their names and report them as spammers. Doing so wld automatically blacklist said name, send report, but will not count against the blacklist limit.

The spam that is happening at the moment is due to players getting their accounts hacked and thus those spammers using those accounts to send out their whispers, shout messages and ingame mails. Until people stop getting hacked, this problem won't disappear unfortunately.

It's even more funny that the servers are now full of Gold spammers, spamming AFKers..

Or do what Eme (TERA) does.

That game has something.. I dunno what, but it prevents goldspammers from the game.
I have never seen any goldspammers in TERA.

Square get whatever Eme has and bring death to those spammers! O=<

Yup still a problem, My current spammer Mr. Mosasa Mosa in Migardsomr has just been blisted :(
