Request: Please reconstruct Disciple of Magic, reason why ppl get sick about battle

I alway play as a wizard or a black mage in every MMO

but for FFXIV they're useless

offensive magic are useless, black mage can not be a DPS at all

all we can do is cure cure cure cure and buff every 5 minutes, this is not a mage I want to play

killing NMs with melee weapon, no magic attack, lack of graphic animation from magic. I don't feel any fantasy from this game.

why the dev team need that much time to figure out what's the problem, why people get boring about battle. melee classes just press 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 and mages just stand around their, watching your crew HP, heal them

we start and end the battle at the same spot, no need to move your character during the combat, I'm sick of it, feel like I'm playing a turn-base RPG, waiting my turn to press a button, stand there and wait for next turn.... WHAT?

an MMO without magic.... hmm, this is not a minor issue but it's one of the biggest issue and I never heard the dev team mention about it before

r50 Conjurer's elemental magic attack can deal 50~350 damage to the mob at the same rank or stronger than us, why? it should be more than 1000 damage for each cast! that's what people who love magic want, we have 1000~1500 less HP than another class so we should get something in return

playing as disciple of magic this way is completely not what I want to play from the beginning, all of mages in the game are healers. can kill a goat in one hit or bully another low rank mobs but... the Flare or any Ancient magic cost me 100 mp but cause 50 critical damage to NM, this is a joke for mages


I just want to know.... do you dev team has any plan about this issue?

I'm definitely in an agreement with this. The mage classes need a LOT of work, after playing around with conjury and thaumaturgist, I feel that they are incredibly lacking and find it very annoying that my spells get resisted more often than not, (though this is probably because I'm more so my stats are more so based on DD than Mage but still!).

I believe class uniqueness is something they are currently looking into, although I cannot speak for the devs. It has been a topic currently discussed in the letters from producer though.

I do agree with op though. I have always played a mage type in any mmo, mostly dps mage types (blm).

To be honest, stamina to cast spell makes sense to me, since you're still exerting your own strength only in this case, mental strength rather than physical strength.

I dunno there's videos of con/thms taking on some pretty tough mobs by themselves on youtube.

Yea Kanacan or what ever his name is soloed all the faction leve nms on thurm50

Mages are fine with dmg unless the mob is like 5+ levels above them then their dmg goes down the tubes. I seen conjs nuke for 500-700dmg on both normal party grind mobs and leve mobs.

I say they need to buff the dmg on higher tier spells, increase the casting time and mp useage. Sorta ballance it out. So do a 700dmg nuke but it cost 70-80mp. Forces you to manage your mp more and makes conj more of a spike dd. Thurm I think would be fine if they tripled all the debuff durations.

The fraction nms are lols, but idk how he did buffallo.... if he did.

I think DoM is too weak, and ancient Magic??? that was a pure let down. Ruined my mage experience completely.

I agree with the consenus. The DoM classes don't even feel like mages but something that was added because they had to. But again that was the overall feel to the game to begin with. A rushed product. However, its getting better and better so I think this concern is noted and will be fixed much like the other problems. I guess my concern is when? patch 1.17 maybe???

didn't read any articles from dev team for awhile...

are they have some plan to fix Black Mage yet?

Also Evangela, did you not play ffxi? Although the skills are different and the regen/refresh effects are changed for resting, they play very similar in respect to stance, positioning, and routine for combat

You apparently did not read the post at all on the thread. Just the title and decided to comment.

I feel like Square has been afraid of magic since XI... In trying to dismantle manaburn parties, they just dismantled black magic in general. Magic should be more powerful than melee attacks because it costs MP to use. Magic is supposed to be a little "overpowered..." Don't even get me started on summoners.

DoM is pretty useless, I agree. Every job can heal itself. Every job can buff itself. Every job can even use our mage armor to cast spells if they want. Why do mages get invited? So that melee jobs can mindlessly spam "1" and not really have to watch their HP or worry about buff timers. It isn't just the fact that Mages, by themselves, are useless in this game. I also blame the current armory system...any job can use (almost) any skill and any armor from any class at any level in any area at any point they want.

Oh and the guy on Figaro that solod Dodore as a THM, cheated to do so. Keep that in mind when you start thinking "How are they useless if you can solo NMs!."

Spamming Emulate ensures that you never get hit more than 40 damage

Running Dodore to the edge of it's movement range so that only 1-2 mobs would hit him at any one time then quickly retreat. This, my friends, is considered an exploit. SE apparently takes exploiting very seriously...remember Salvage duping? At any rate, he used an exploit (cheated) to beat Dodore so I, and many others on our server, do not consider it a legit kill.

Mages are broken.

We can't be a Blackmage type:
Tier II spells do 0 or 30-50 normal and 0 or 100-600 damage at the top of BR for "most" NMs. Dodore is 0 or 100-300 normal and 0 or 100-1400. These are all outdone easily by melee jobs (personal experience). Sacrificing all stats other than pie 159 and int 149, using the stat swaps to add 15 more pie and 15 more int and wearing all the top gear for adding pie/int/magic acc, minus the Harlequin acton. (damn thing won't drop) I also add all my stats into 3 elements, atm it's 143 water, 120 ice, 100 earth. There is no significant difference in the 6 elements damage output or resist rate.

As we all know AM is a joke so I'll just skip that.

Rdm setup is overpowered:
Max your vit and bring up mnd as much as you can. Now you're a tank. Cast Emulate (MOST spells hit for almost nothing, shadowsear and scourge hit for full amount) DoT's bio, dia, etc over and over now you can solo most NMs and all other in range mobs. Takes forever but you can do it. DoT's suffer the same setback as attack magic. (pie,int,mag acc do nothing worth while)

Whm type is overpopulated and boring:
Pro>Shell>Cure>Sacrifice>Cure>Sacrifice>Cure>Sacrifice>Cure>Sacrifice>Pro>Shell>Cure>Sacrifice>Cure>
Tank is paralyzed or petrified etc? Who cares? It'll wear off. Just keep curing.

You better have cure3, sac3, pro2 and shell2 as a mage. If you have MP and can AoE you are expected to be a whm first, crappy blm second or rather, not at all.

Mages as a whole seem to be dying. Mages are switching to melee for a more fulfilling experience.

These have all been acknowledged by SE, I think. Hopefully they will fix this soon.
