In the Japanese (linky) forum a rep responded that the implementation of ishgard doesn't have a final timeframe, but will be implemented after the battle changes.
Just a heads up, since many are waiting quite anxiously to pass that gate :D

They alway talk
this coming
that coming
CHANGE
When?
Well I imagine it would open at some point after the battle changes. I mean it'd be hard for them to implement it before them lol. Just don't get yourself too excited, it's probably not going to immediately follow it.
Is Ishgard even a friendly city?
It is, it's one of the city states of eorzea like the other three.
You always demand
When?
When?
This is an overwhelmingly silly demand. Game development is not an exact science, and no game developer that works with any decent professionality gives timeframes or dates for the release of patches before everything is finalyzed, because testing times cannot be properly estimated.
Otherwise you end up doing like Creative Assembly with Shogun 2. They released their game without a publicized feature (Dx 10+ and antialiasing) without even warning their customer. And after release they promised that it'd come in a patch in "2-4 weeks". Then the 4 weeks passed, and they had to announce it would be delayed a further month, causing justified rage aplenty.
In game development you don't make promises you're not sure you can keep. That's a golden rule.
When it comes it comes who really cares Ishgard is not the be all to end all in the game
But the question is: do they mean "after all the battle changes are done" or "after the first part of the battle changes is done"?
'Cause there's probably a 2-3 month timeframe between those two.
It's almost 4 months since the new team took control
any major issue get fix? no?
even a small issue like this:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...r-a-disconnect
This intrigues me.
What do you consider an acceptable timeframe to fix a major issue? Especially for a team that had to re-establish itself and the development priorities and processes, and had to deal with a major earthquake amidst everything else. Not to mention a team that is working on not one, not two, but 4+ major issues at once.
So, how fast do you, informed and intelligent individual on the topic of game development, think they should fix said major issues when all this is taken into account?
at least they should rebalance the skills
they can do it in few weeks, like when they adjusted the Shell/Protect/Punishing Barbs
it's not a hard task, not like you have to rebuild everything from zero, it's just an adjustment task
why they need a year to fix AM's ?
stop repeating this sentence: "programming is not easy like you thought"
if you need a year to do this, you're suck as a programmer and should resign immediately
I'm still doubting we will see Ishguard until at least the PS3 launch, they need to treat it like an expansion to get any traction with the gaming media to give the game a second shot at reviews and publicity after it's initial "mistep"
They already said that they are working on combat changes, small or large, together and not individually because that is the most efficient approach. They may be able to do it in few weeks, but it is more efficient to work on everything combat-related at once and prepare them in a parallel than fix things individually. It's not about whether the programming is easy or hard, but what allows them to fix the game in the smallest timeframe possible.
Again, how much time should they have to fix these major issues?
First part of the overhaul comes during the Spring. It has been stated since months ago (before the earthquake, but that shouldn't affect it too much). What's next?Quote:
and that's what I ask "when?"
"But what day exactly!!1"
Request to lock topic due to no information & asinine bickering without any real debate.
The information is simple. A japanese rep told that Ishgard will be implemented after the battle changes. Like it or not (or whether it's sufficent information for your taste, which is inconsequential), it's information, and that's all there's to it.
As per the asinine bickering, those posts can be deleted, as the mods did in several other threads.
@Evangela: the fact that you continue asking "when? When? when?" is the clear indication that you know nothing about game development. As you've already been explained several times, developers with any degree of professionality don't promise timeframes before such timeframes have been finalyzed.
Hey everyone!
The reasoning behind it being planned after the battle system changes is because player’s wouldn’t be able to fully enjoy the content that will be introduced alongside Ishgard otherwise.
and when we can enjoy the new battle system?
Part of the problem is how vague the statement is though. Coming after the battle content could mean the day after, the week after, 3 years after. Is it coming shortly after the battle update or is there really no correlation between the 2 dates aside from that one comes (at some point) after the other?
tell me the date, not 'as soon as possible' or 'coming up next' or 'near future'
Spring. As has been said, over... and over... and over.
Which is prior to June 21st.
The kind of answer that contains a deadline in the form of an actual date (June 21st)? The man (or lady) said SE had announced it as spring. Spring as you know comes before summer (I think, or that may be Sea Monster Armageddon Season.. not sure). If we get to summer and there is still nothing, come back and ask again. Until then, silence is golden.
And now for something ignorant. Stop complaining about when things are coming and go level your character some more. Cap a class or something. Try getting to the end of the line first instead of complaining there is nothing there before you've even left the house.
It's a long day, I think I'm gonna say something else that's even more ignorant. What do you care anyhow? Can't you just RP the rest of the game with your little friends in a story circle or something?
