Seriously, it's become more than obvious by now that these guys have no idea what they are doing, they're not fixing anything(oh wow..duty finder fixed...wee...wait..How can I use it IF I CAN'T LOG IN?!), They are imposing a login restriction with the claim they want to prevent a server crash(Oh gee, you wouldn't have had this issue if you had simply created more worlds from the start and expanded the capacity the servers can handle BEFORE launch.), and don't look like they are going to be expanding the server capacity anytime soon, if ever. The players who don't want to leave their friends behind, start over, or fork out cash for server transfer are screwed.

Verdict: Dead game running.

They knew about the overcrowding during the head start and still haven't fixed the problem. Now this is just my thinking; and I'm far from being a CEO of a major game company, but I would make sure people could actually play a game I expect them to pay a monthly subscription for. Oh wait, they want us to pay out for 3/6/12 months in advance for prizes! This on the heels of people paying the same advance subscriptions on 1.0, and we all know how wonderful that turned out. I have no complaints as of yet with the game itself, but their handling of the servers is garbage. I shouldn't be so critical though, online gaming is relatively new after all.

This game has been a game of when's for along time now i would like it to become a game of NOW!, 1017 is really annoying and should not be there in the first place SE should have had it all under control before open release even if that meant delaying the game even longer.

You know, if everybody who have said they're going to quit in the last week actually kept their word, we probably wouldn't be having these server problems right now. As for me, I'm going to stick around for a while. SE has talked about what the problems are, how they are going to correct them, and roughly how long it will take. It will be fixed when it's fixed. If I take my car in for repairs and a needed part is out of stock, no amount of cussing the mechanic will make the delivery truck arrive any quicker.

In before "You're a white-knighting white knight who white-knights a lot!" Nah, I'm just an old man with better things to do than be angry and hateful about things completely out of my control. I get that everyone is upset about not being able to reliably log in, (I am, too) but I guarantee the people at the Montreal data center are unhappy as well. It is what it is.

Not everything in life is easy, or fair, and very seldom do plans actually work out as intended. I've seen so many threads in the General forum this week from people who act like this is the most hardship they've ever experienced. Well, if that's the case then these people are going to have very unhappy lives ahead of them. Life is full of disappointment and missed expectations. Sometimes you can make the most of a bad situation and break even, other times you just have to accept the loss and chalk it up to experience.

If you want to leave, then do so, but go with peace. Don't burn any bridges behind you. You own the game already, so come back in a month or two and see how things are. If you still don't like it, then you're only out a few dollars and some of your time. Money is replaceable, but time isn't, so don't waste too much of the latter doing something you don't enjoy.

Well to all the impatient people good riddance. To the main problem... How does SE launch without an AFK system and small world caps especially on legacy servers where they pretty much had an idea that they would be most populated.... Their solution, turn off character creation for nearly every server... that is just idiotic. that said if you quit a game in the first week of launch your someone we don't want in the community anyway. Square, get your act together.

to be fair SE have been great thus far, theyve pretty much fixed problem after problem that im guessing did work during beta but once the server got crowded they didnt foresee it doing something wrong.

when you are able to create a server that can house 1million people then you may give your opinion, there not delaying the game at all, all they are doing is restricting it so they can allow the 5000 player limit per server to have there fun and then anyone else who can get on after one logs off.

call me a white knight of SE as they are a company that has given me a story line for games no one else is able to give 99% of games now a days are rubbish not one FF game has been rubbish to me and this one is far from it ^^

to be fair SE have NOT been great thus far. This is a damn disaster. If I gave my customers this level of service (as in it doesn't work) I would be fired. "Great" would be a) I buy game b) i install game c) i play game. Instead i just gave them money to be able to look at a 1017 error all day. Someone should be fired for their lack competence. The game is quite fun, they got that right, but their network and server teams need to get new jobs. Ever since the merger with Enix this company has gone down hill. Looks to me like they may have finally reached the bottom (and we all know what rolls down hill...)

I'm with you. It sucks that I paid 60 bucks for a game I can't play. Not a great sign. I guess we'll have to wait for A Reborn Realm - Reborn for proper game play.

Yes, it sucks, but I can't think of a launch for a MMO that didn't have some sort of issues that people didn't complain about. At least they are committed to fixing the issues unlike some launches I've seen. If one week makes you want to leave then good riddance. I survived 1.0, I'll survive this.

Its been three days, the only time I've had off of work in a long damn time and after the partying and socializing all I've wanted to do was to log in some game time so I could mellow out a bit. but my server has been completely full since Sunday and its really starting to bug the living shit out of me. They need to restart servers once every night so the AFK guys can get booted. Cause seriously; if the only thing in your life is FFXIV then you probably need to find another hobby.

Couldn't log in? Didn't you read the news? The numbers exceeded their expectations. They didn't want this. Most big name MMOs had this particular problem, which means they are/were good enough to attract so many players around the world. Plus, they have at least given words on the fixes, ETA and ALSO adds on 7 more days on you first month Free sub. Not that they've been quiet about it like some game publishers who kept ignoring their own customers. The fact that the game is fun is worth all the trouble which explains why more and more people are gawping in front of their PCs / PS3s to log in all day, including you. There's nothing wrong with the game except for this particular problem, which let me remind you again, they are trying their best to fix it.

Have a little bit of patience. If not, you lot should just stick to your Ponies and Friends or whatever.

I haven't been able to log onto the game itself for 4 days now since the client on my end was being retarded and now i cant get on any servers. I just Wish i can actually play the game before my 1 month free is over before i have to start paying.

I'm not saying abandon game, but selling a product that people can't use, no matter your promises of fixes in a week or so, is pretty weak.

Either way the game itself is great. If you really were going to leave then you wouldn't have spent the time to come here and complain about it because you wouldn't care.

That tells me that when this problem is fixed you will still be here paying and playing. I look forward to possibly grouping with you in the future!

Actually, if you've even paid attention to anything the developers have said about these issues instead of just ragedumping on the forums, you would know that they weren't expecting ANYWHERE NEAR the amount of players they received. Even beta and early access numbers were drastically lower than launch numbers. They equipped their datacenters according to budget and revenue projections, and on launch day, they got BLASTED with numbers they weren't prepared for.

Honestly, I'm getting REAL sick of people complaining when they know nothing about the operations and logistics required on their end. They can't just waltz down to Best Buy, pick up some servers, and plug them in. It takes LOTS of time.

Despite all you spoiled immature children pissing all over their hard work, they're still working to bring us the best game experience they can. They're busting their asses so we can have fun. So give them a damn break, and do something else with your damn life until they're done.

Comparing the "My Little Pony" fandom (aka 'Bronies') to the homosexual community is insulting at best. People are born homosexual and did not choose to be attracted to members of the same sex, you and other like you choose to watch a television show, dress like characters from it, and create NSFW toys based on it. Well looking from OP's character, date of post and recruitment for his "brony" FC, he abandoned his notion of abandoning the game. Yeah there were issues at the start but everything is running fairly smooth now. It seems that someone was a bit too hasty in their conviction and should have withheld it entirely.
