I originally quit back in Nov and came back about 3 weeks ago and I'm having a much better time with the game, they have definitely improved it since back then, can only get better IMO.
I'll probably start playing again once the battle patch comes out. For now I've just been checking the changes in-game then quitting a day or two later.
I agree, I have always loved it. Everything about is great and its just getting better. I love the world and story they have put together. I just hope the new dev team continues the old story in as good a manner and does not mess with the battle system too much.
I've been playing since beta-3 so I knew the game was going to have a rocky launch, but I knew SE would improve it, and they have. I'm very glad they made this game more casual at first. Get the game mechanics down, flesh out the world, the lore, and then add "hardcore content". In the mean time explore Eorzea, and have fun with what there is.
Too many complainers, and "make it like FFXI" people here. This is not XI, so lets have fun with something different. SE has the money to try something different, not do more of the same just to make money.
This is an MMO if something doesn't work a patch can fix that. Unlike offline games once its out, its out.
I heart this game for sure.
I admit though... I play largely out of faith. Squeeix == Epic. FFXIV != epic. Fingers crossed that soon... FFXIV == epic.
I have liked this game from the beginning, and I also have faith that SE will make it epic.
Same with me. I mostly level crafting, but I can't resist battling some too. I really like Conjurer. I hope they don't change it too much.
If they do, well, it not like I wasn't warned.
I like it, not love it. I still think the UI could be more responsive. There are not mayn classes I like but this should change. I mostly like playing magic-based classes although some sort of battlemages are awesome (I look at you RDM!!!).
The cutscenes are very nice! The overall difficulty is a bit too much on the lower side in my opinion (only the rank46 mission was 'challenging'). It is so far accessible to anyone and that's a very good point!
Me too, I love it! And I love where it seems to be going! :o
WOW Received positive feedback. Ill we support everyone, if need a friend for quest or notoriuos Monsters. I like to help with conjurer.
It's improved dramatically from the public beta, and I'm looking forward to future updates. I like what I've heard from Yoshi-P, in fact what he's said he wants to do for the MMO is the whole reason I finally picked it up.
I love XIV as well! /high five /chest bump
I'm a pretty low-flying/casual player now, but have been loving it since CE release, and the ball is still only starting to roll.
I can see myself in Eorzea for many years to come
i like the game with the vids I seen, they did epic motion capture for it :3
Best thread yet! Thankyou all for posting positive comments, it's refreshing!!
I think the dev team and yoshi-p are doing the best they can at making this game fun for EVERYONE.
I been playing since CB and the game keeps getting better, not worse.
There have been few times playing that I have gotten bored, usually changing jobs fixes that for me.
Again kudos to positive posts, lets make the forums a nice place to be!!!!!
One of my favorite things about this game was how little content there was at release. Seriously. I know this sounds like a backward comment, but in FFXI the most disparaging thought for me was that no matter how long I played I would NEVER see everything in the game. When XIV came out, I was excited to start at square one and be able to experience everything as it comes out.
Last week I finally got R50 on pugilist. That means if a new high-level event or dungeon is released, I'll actually be able to participate in it. In XI I was always too low or had not enough skill or something. "Oh they added more high-level content? Woopee! Another cool thing I can't participate in..."
In FFXIV it's the opposite. They just released new NMs and I've been able to solo/small party most of them. And it was GREAT!
TL;DR I like being able to experience everything as it comes out. So if things come out slowly, that just gives me more time to play with what's already out.
I love this game too :) I may complain about small things but I will most certainly still be playing it anyway!
I just started playing again last week because of patch 1.17. The game has been constantly improving since beta, but I feel like it's finally almost in a good place. Once Companies and the new battle system come out this game is going to be awesome.
I like this game. I see it as having incredible potential. The atmosphere and stylistic direction of the game is some of the classiest and carefully crafted handling of fantasy setting I have ever seen in a game, but I feel it was released far too early and it originally used far too many of the expected formulaic, over-structured, and linear style of Squares latest games. It is however improving. There's a lot more variety and it seems things will get even more interesting in the upcoming months.
And I do care what other people think about it because the strength of an MMO is its community.
I tried to play other MMO like Rift or Vindictus.. it fun at first 2-3 weeks but after a while it bored me for no reason ( same as I used to played WoW ) and I stop and cancel subscribe it before month..
But FFXIV, even I know it incomplete and need lot of work to fix.. but when I compare the system & graphic to mentioned games... I feel like FFXIV is far better than them.. like super-detail armor and weapon that no other game can do.
Right now I don't have inspiration to play FFXIV much but I still keep checking their update.. and I wish Yoshi-P team will overhaul the battle system asap because right now I feel no fun for fighting in FFXIV.... at all.
I've loved the game since launch—even its quirks.
I genuinely like this game. Seriously. I do. I started at launch with the mindset of playing for the long haul, and that is just what I am gonna do. I am aware of the many issues this game currently has, but they won't be things I will allow to boggle me down.
I've been playin since the CE release, I gotta say, that the game is nowhere near as bad as the "elitists" say. It has it's flaws, but they aren't beyond improvement. I like the ability to party or go solo. I like the leve linking. I like that I can wear heavy armor as an arc if I want to. I still believe this game is better without auto-attack, there is no need to switch to a ffxi style job-system, and I'm not too fond of the updater.
Overall though, I have enjoyed myself quite a bit, enough that I don't log into xi much anymore.
I bought the collectors edition, played a week early, quit sometime about November, came back in December due to it being winter break, and quit again when school is in. This games not good enough to make me forget I have homework to do, which is actually kinda good i guess :/ I like this game but it wasn't my first mmo, and I've really given up trying to recreate the magic XI was, because its nostalgic to me, being my first mmo lol.
Ooh a love thread these are awesome.
<3
I really enjoy this game, I don't care too much what people say or think of it as long as it's there and it makes me happy. So far it's done that. I tried to play some Rift too, I felt it was a flash in the pan and didn't stand out to me though it was pretty. I imagine some feel the same way about FFXIV, but to me it's the world I love playing in.
I love this game and have since Alpha and its nice to see a positive topic!! The game is taking shape now and i feel i am coming to the end of a long Alpha/Beta test and the game is getting to where it should have been on release.
Love it?
'Love' doesn't "Even, F*CKING, DEWSCRIIIIBE IT!!"
It could be unbelievable for some people, but I find so much to do in this game in my free time =D
Yeah it had to have been clear to TPTB at SE that FFXIV would not have been ready by September 2010. Release dates for games are pushed back all the time and I see an FF as no different. At least SE acknowledged that...kind of.
Not sure if a team restructure was needed. In any case here we are six months later and still playing. I'm enjoying the game and look forward to the planned content.
That's the beauty of MMO's, they evolve and grow, and become apart of your life. Not in the sense they take over (time management) but that you start to feel the world is real..Eorzea will be there by years end. :)
I think that is one of the best things about it. I enjoy my Botany and sometimes a bit of fighting, but I'm still a part of the world filled with other players from all over Earth, taking part in something that we share. I've been here since the launch and still really enjoying it, and I haven't even really taken part in crafting (Highest is Weaver at 20) and my highest Combat skill is only 27, where as my Botany is at Rank 39, and I have a full set of stuff to wear while doing it.
I love that the Crafting and Gathering are truly 'Classes' in their own right, with their own stats and gearing, and hope that continues to be the case into the future, rather than them being a 'profession' that you do only when you want to make a bit of money or an item for yourself.
In fact, my brother even started playing today as he has liked the look of the improvements since launch, and he has been happily wandering around Gridania until he took a break a little while ago. Definitely looking forward to the future of the game, as long as we don't 'lose' a lot of the things that Tanaka had planned - not that I am against Yoshi-P in any way, but the future ideas and such looked really good and I don't want to lose them for a game that could pass for any other minus the graphics.
Been loving the game since beta 1, regardless of it's issues. If i didn't, I would have quit a long time ago.
I really love this game! I'm playing it since beta, and EVEN then it was fun. I really enjoy grinding with a good party, take risks on higher level mobs, traveling across Eorzea, the great LS community we have.
I'll be playing for long (it has only been 6 months!)
;)
