Increasing current World capacity?

Why does Yoshida not mention increasing the capacity of current Worlds in his new blog post? Are the existing populated NA worlds like Ultros still going to be locked at 5000 connections on Wednesday, after the new server installations are complete? I sincerely hope that they don't think people are going to jump ship from the Worlds they have established characters on to the new Worlds. Really, I have this sneaking suspicion that we're still going to be getting login errors if they don't bump up the server connection cap significantly in addition to adding new worlds and spreading the duty finder out.

I honestly don't know if they are increasing world capacity, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, nor would I be surprised if 1017 remains a nuisance after the update. Square Enix has proved that they are incompetent when it comes to this kind of thing. Single-player RPGs seem to be their forte. "we believe that many of the login issues that players are currently experiencing will clear." - translation: it might still happen afterwards.

The way I understand it ( and they way they have it written) there is no plan to increase the maximum connections allowed on the existing servers.

They are installing new servers to create new worlds...and this is just a band aid on a much bigger problem. If I know SE like I think I do, they will install just enough servers to accommodate the current player base. This is assuming they offer a free transfer to clear out the existing servers.

And then....when they start selling the game again....BAM. Error 1017. New servers are all well and good. And sorely needed. But increasing the maximum capacity of the existing worlds is a must as well.

I would love some clarification on this from an SE rep. Is the addition of new servers going to raise the cap of concurrent connections on the worlds that are currently overloaded, or is it just going to let the folks who still haven't been able to create a character have a chance?

They can't increase the current worlds any longer. It's ridiculous doing fates with the quantity of people crammed up. There's so much people everywhere! I loved to explore the wild, barren lands, void of people with dangerous mobs roaming around during beta but now there are no barren lands void of people! There are tons of players, chocobos and magitek everywhere. They can't fit anyone else in there...

They will be adding worlds not increasing world size. When they say increased world capacity they do not mean increase of world size, just increase of the capacity of the worlds to choose from on the list. So, if you don't get to play on a server with friends, you gotta get them to move to a new server to play with them after the update.

What a load of bs! You mean to tell me the same log-in difficulties will persist?

Can I get my free days reimbursed for the days I can't play, like, for instance, today, yesterday, the day before, and most likely tomorrow and the day after?

It is not much "free" 30 days when I can't log in on any of those days right?

if that's the case what a bummer i got invited to play with friends and i cant even make a character on a us server this forum character is on a Japanese server lol i don't speak Japanese

We still had to pay money for the game regardless of subs. This is fraud. What they need to do like most every other mmo is kick afkers. Problem solved.

Not once has he mentioned that they will increase logins on the servers as 5000 is currently cap.

They will introduce new servers thinking half of the current population will hop into the new worlds BULL SHIT. As if we would having lvl 50 characters.

Come wednesday maintenance nothing will be fixed and I mean nothing.

1017 will continue and SE are too fucking cheap and having a moron lead them makes no sense at all.

Yoshida has already mentioned it was his complete fault and not seeing ahead with the numbers they had predicted now they face massive issues.

Actually, Yoshida said that they are "actively looking into implementing such a feature", but that the server additions are top priority to them. There's no guarantee that it's going to happen any time soon, even after the addition of more Worlds.

Frankly I feel that we need some sort of communication as to what the addition of new Worlds is actually going to end up tangibly doing for the existing player base. Clearly they want to add spots for more players - I mean, sales have been quite high so far, and many people haven't been able to play whatsoever - but for those of us who already have characters, who are already playing on the ultra-populated NA/EU servers... where is the assurance that our issues will go away? What does "World capacity" mean? This was never mentioned again in either of Yoshida's posts regarding the login issues. Is it the number of worlds? The number of active connections? I'd really like for the dev team to actually give us some transparency about their plans, considering we're all paying customers here.

I hope I chose a server that will live.... if they keep adding servers instead of adding to its cap. it's going to create "low pop server" syndrome :( That's never fun... The hype is going to die down after a while, so I hope I chose a good one. whew...

Any character moved to a new server would retain their items/level etc. This is something that has happened before with FFXI and that game has had an existing world transfer system for years since the last time they expander servers there. The only kicker with FFXIV is going to be the Free Companies. They can't do what they did in FFXI and just give the leader a fresh unopened linkshell. They need to be prepared to fully transfer FCs to the new servers. Also it pretty much isn't mechanically possible to increase server populations as there is only so many concurrent connections the hardware can handle.. That is the whole reason for implementing new Worlds. They haven't said how many they are adding so we'll have to see, but people are going to have to start actually logging out...

And weekend is my only free time
This weekend I spend over 3 hours seeing 2002 and 1017
It is utterly stupid system
Queuing is another fail system, I never saw my no. go beyond 22X, 23X
The over population is no news to them as they can predict from the preorder no.

increasing the population cap should not be impossible, server architecture and server machines live on their expandability and even yoshi P has mentioned that they "link" server boxes per world. , if they chose to use hamsters in an excercise wheel then that is their problem. there are many ways to alleviate the population problem, they are choosing the most cost effective one. and that will in turn cause them to shoot themselves in the foot.

I'm going to bump this because I would still like to have some sort of response.

Please, someone reassure me that server capacity is going to be increased with the additional servers. I'm actually worried that they won't.

I really hope it is. I am content in staying on Adamantoise. All my friends are on it. Yoshida and his team needs to communicate more.

Get a grasp on our brand you FF XIV ARR! You can play late with our "Late Access" Policy which allows you to constantly frustrate trying to log in into the game you paid for! So much better than that "Early Access" S**t. I mean, seriously, don't you love that AMAZING Log in music? We know you do! There you go! 1017 for everyone! Enjoy!

I hate to bring up World of Warcraft, but how Blizzard handled overpopulated servers was to open new servers, and tell people that they were opening free transfers to those servers. If enough people willingly transferred then fine, but if they didnt, then Blizzard would randomly pick characters to transfer. What happened was entire guilds transferred to avoid the possibility of being broken up. It worked extremely well.
