So it sounds like the data center expansion is just to add new worlds... That is what the letter indicates. All that is happening this week is new worlds added so new players can create characters and play. That is nice and all but for those of us on congested servers, it sounds like cap will stay in place, 1017 will stay in place, and we will never actually be able to play.
I really hope Yoshi clarifies his statement and proves this to be wrong but this is seriously what it sounds like is happening.

Lol what in gods name is Yoshi thinking just adding new worlds? I feel his career is on the line with this because SE would not be happy if it flopped and just adding new worlds to na/eu. Haha that is the most pathetic adjustment he could have made to this situation. Bottom line I am on Diabolos with my FC, and I will NEVER actually be able to play the game until NA/Eu servers become so dead because of his incompetence.

The worlds are probably already at the maximum number of players that the server software can handle. Just throwing hardware at the problem will probably not help and might cause the worlds to become unstable. Hopefully they will allow players to transfer their characters to another world for free to even out the server load. They have not said they will allow free transfers, but it seems like that is what they need to do to fix the problem.

The problem lies with the Lobby server, if that gets bombed then no one will log in, regardless of which world that you are on!
Adding more servers will help new players create characters.. that is it, because once their character is created, they will still be going through the same lobby server as all of us, and it isn't just the 1071 error, its the fact that it can't always located NA/EU servers. As the list is called from the lobby.
So add as many worlds as you want, you will still have the same problems! -

Yep, I am playing the TESO beta right now. The longer it takes for SE to correct the problem the more likely I will not come back to the game. I know they acknowledge the faults, but to keep so many people from being able to play for the long weekend means they are missing out on making me a loyal customer. The game is good, but it is not good enough to withstand the this. Living in a results based society, a goal of Wednesday to fix the problem is unacceptable and if the problem persists at the level I have experienced today then I will not be giving SE my money.

None of the points addressed by Yoshi are in any way relevant to the fact that the worlds/servers are designed to hold 5K players simultaneously "sprinkled" across its zones. This is, and will continue to be, a massive problem. Server population will need to be balanced/rebalanced.
More servers with the same issues as the current set up is not the answer. -

Whatever fears we may have, all that can be done will be done, and I am sure that things will be better soon. There are ways to gate and manage entry and they will be implimented I am sure to ease the flow. We face the challenge of any and all mass events online..and how much any system can bear. There are limits and we will have to evolve with them and learn now ways of managing our own expectations and actions. I chose to log on when i could only for certain limited times to allow others to play. We can also set up self regulated ways, like only logging on on odd or even days based on the first letter of our last name. Such a self disciplined manner of helping would overnight change the crisis. It would offer us the chance to be part of the solution.

Lol CrisGer I WISH the community could be self regulating... login problems would not exist if the community had any common sense. But the fact that there are ungodly amounts of afk'ers proves this can never happen. The player's rationale: "I can't ever log in so when i log in I am not going to log out!" HOWEVER! The reason they can never log in is because everyone is NOT logging out. I just can't even begin to understand the mentality of the afk'ers... And what sucks is new servers added wednesday, but transfers not offered till later so yeah, all of us will still be suffering.
