1017 would be solved by kicking all AFK Players...

Dear Square Enix,

First off I'd like to say I love this game; and that's the reason why I signed up for beta (Phases 1-4) and that is also why I must say some things about the strange way you are handling too many people connecting to the gaming servers.

1) The Queue:
The Queue worked just fine in Beta - why get rid of it now? I'd be glad to wait for 2-4 hours to get into the game; just as long as I KNOW I'm in line to get in, and not receiving an error message basically telling me "Ooops our bad; can you try later?"

2) AFKs:
I bet there isn't a single player (who is on Sargatanas) that hasn't seen at LEAST 20-30 people just AFK around city LightStones or around major "Mission giving" Characters. How is it that the company responsible for Final Fantasy 11 would not think to provide a timeout (or kicking out of idle players) in this MMO as well?

I believe that if you kicked out everyone that has sat around idling for at least 45 minutes these 1017 errors would appear about 75% less often. This is because all of these AFKs that are just congesting the cities and taking up vital server space would be gone; and people actually trying to play would be able to get in.

Just needed to add my 2 cents as I'm a paying client of this game.

When I used to actually be able to sign in within an hour or 12 on Sargatanas, I used to fear turning in quests because the congestion of idle/inactive players just stood in clumps. I just managed to get onto a queue only to then be 1017'd off of the queue?! I'm so bewildered :(

its a great idea!... however, it could be circumvented by using auto run, a macro, or maybe even an ingenious device that presses random keys while you a AFK...

It could be, but i don't think every afker will do it.
1017 really makes me mad. Can't login for 2 hours already

Don't forget gil sellers, they are probably causin more problems then real players.

There hasn't been a game made in the last 7 years that is fooled by that. They can tell if human input is happening.

It's hard to blame people that just AFK for the night. Thanks to 1017 its terrifying to log out because you never know when or if you're going to be able to log in again.

I don't understand why you would decide not to have this standard feature of time-outs to help manage server load.

Yes, booting afk players would allow a greater chance of access, but it wouldn't resolve it. The servers are full immediately after being down. Square Enix screwed everyone by not properly gauging how many players would be accessing the game. It's entirely their fault, and I swear there must be a goddamned monkey running the show.

Oh, and I love the message that says "We hope to have implemented more world capacity by next week." So vague. You HOPE....to have increased capacity by some time next week...could be Monday...Tuesday..Wednesday..Thursday..Friday...Saturday..Sunday... Who knows!!! But at least one vague message is better than none.

That would make too much sense. They obviously dont subscribe to logic. Its been one mistep after the other. "we didnt know it would sell so well" . Ohh ok, sound reasoning....

While I will agree with the AFK Timeout (just like FFXI has) ... something that does concern me is the wait some of us have for getting into a Duty via the Finder, as on average it takes me 30-50minutes.
This is ridiculous on it's own, but often I don't really have much else available to me when waiting for them. It likely would be a single fix to exempt such people, but then I fear that would only cause most of the AFK people to simply move to clogging up the Duty Finder and those areas instead.

Something that is annoying the **** out of me though are the RMT Bots, there is no block, ignore or report that I can see... hopefully Square can get on top of this like they did in FFXI, as it's annoying and ruins the experience seeing these leeching ***holes.

FFXI never had auto-time out. They had a timer that you could turn off. I'd stay logged in for weeks doing bazaar.
