Cannot connect error 2002

When i open the game i right away get a error saying
"The Lobby Server Connection Has Encountered An Error 2002"

I am getting the same error.

After I log in, and click on start, it goes to connect to the character list and can't connect.


As far as Start graying out, I am an administrator, it doesn't matter if you do run as administrator when you are an administrator. But I do occasionally get that grayed out, restarting the game usually corrects it for me.

edit: Now it's occurring at different times. Sometimes when I click on play, sometimes after clicking on start, or just waiting on the first screen.

(It isn't my ISP, I'm sure it's a server/connection issue on Square-Enix's end)

Same here. Won't allow me to click the start and brings up error 2002. I'm on PS3.

I am getting the same error... with the odd 1017 error inbetween. *sigh*

Just adding to the masses. I've got the 2002 error.

Update: I am able to connect now. How about the rest of you?

i get the dissconnected from lobby 2002 error, then after starting the game again it says the NA/EU world list is down

same here, but lodstone say "all servers up" :confused:

no more 2002 error but now the NA/EU server list won't load

I had te whole week dealing with fucking error 1017. No that isla saturday and want to play, I get this shit and im not even able to show my character. Seriously SE? This piece of shit is going from bad to worse.

Same problem here, for the past 2 hours I've been getting the standard 1017s and a 2002 error every 10 minutes it seems.

Now I'm getting the error that the NA/EU server list is unavailable.

all servers ARE up, they are just full

And we can't get in because there are two servers. The lobby server which is like 100s of thousands of people trying to get on this morning and then the world servers, which are all full.

Same issue here. I've tried to connect several different times and I've gotten both 9000 error and 2002 error. Currently, it is stating that NA/EU server are not available. Yet they are saying server issues were resolved...

Cannot log in......

Now I can get in but it keeps saying Unable to update group NA/EU lists. Damnit.

I'm getting so many errors that I can't keep track of them all. I was playing and I got booted out of the game. When I tried to log back in the "Start" button was greyed out. Once that went away, I started getting the 2002 error. Now I'm getting that and the occasional 1017 error. I've also had both the "NA/EU" and "JP" character list error.

I finally got my issue with PS3 code resolved and now I am getting the 2002 error and the EU/NA worlds are not available. *sigh*. I went to bed at 1am trying to get this solved. Woke up at 5. Waited 3 hours to get to talk to a EU Square Enix account rep. Finally got this all figured out and there are 10000x errors. UGH. I just want to play my game all weekend. >,>,

I like how a lot of this crap happens after they're pleased to announced they resolved issues. Oh. No more lobby error for me. NA list down though

I'm also getting the 2002 error. My game was working just fine last night then I got booted at about midnight EST (GMT-5). When I tried to log back in (just steps away from an inn) the Start was greyed out. My system froze so I rebooted and just went to bed. I figured I'd get connected this morning. I've been trying since 8AM (EST) to get in.

I've tried rebooting, running as admin, resetting my router, etc. Nothing worked. I felt (slightly) better when I saw others were having the same issue as me pointing to a server/lobby error and not something wrong with my system... but that still doesn't fix the problem. I have purchased a game which includes 30 days free of service/early access and I've only been able to actually PLAY it for a few hours over the last week. Then because of the restrictions I can't even play with my FRIENDS because they are on servers that suddenly stopped allowing new characters. I certainly hope once they get this fixed they will adjust everyone's "free" 30 days to actually be a "FULL" 30 days!

Yay long weekend and no play time. They did state that they will be offering something when this is all resolved. We will see.

I like what you have to say. Same here about the 30 days. It is just painful to be able to log in at best a hour or two a day. Because of lobby problems or full servers.

Why isn't there a news post on the official site stating they are aware of the issue at least?!!!

Wow finally got in. Well on JP server. Anyone else having better luck?

I was getting 1017 at first. I figured, "well it is the weekend, everyone is logging in." Now I started getting the 2002 error and after that i got the NA/EU worlds cannot be obtained error and now it went straight back to the 2002 error. Yay...

Hi all,

Just a quick note on this, I have been getting this same error has well. I cannot find the fix for it, but I can tell you what I have been able to determine. From my initial testing, it appears to be a connectivity issue that is caused when we first start opening up the launcher and then the login screen. There is a simple test for this if you are on a PC.

First, start a ping test going (type "cmd" to bring up the console)
For the ping test, recommending using the following command: ping -t www.google.com
Ok once you have this running, watch it for a bit to see if there are any "request time-out" type of lines. If you see consistent replies, then you connection should be relatively stable, KEEP THIS RUNNING.

Now open up FFXIV and attempt to login like normal until it kicks you are or if you are luck it actually lets you in.
If you are windowed, keep an eye on that ping test to see if you are getting "request time-out" type of lines.
If you are not windowed, you can always use an ALT-TAB to check on it if it has not thrown you out of FFXIV yet.

This is basically where I have been stumped and someone more knowledgeable than myself might want to investigate.
From my IT knowledge, the traffic appears to be getting throttled or losing integrity on the way to the FFXIV login servers.
I have called my ISP (Time Warner Cable) and they have assured me they are not doing anything with my connecting (This is after talking with the highest tiered tech support I could speak with)
So at this point, I am not sure what to make of it.
My internet works perfectly fine and only starts getting unstable when starting up FFXIV and trying to get in.
I have done everything I could think of on my router has well, but nothing is working.

If anyone is more knowledgeable about these types of things I would love to hear you take on this issue.

Edit: and I just tried the ping, during the whole process my ping time to google never went above 11ms, no dropped packets etc.

nope, cant log in into the lobby server at all, game crashes at the start screen ^^; 2002

Not sure how I never got this error before and all of a sudden am >.>;; quite annoying.

Logged off an hour ago and now I log back in and get this issue.

This is getting a bit ridiculous >.< I can understand the first few days being hectic and what not...but it has been over a week now with these errors. Well, longer actually considering they started in phase 4.

Got the same Error Code 2002 I am on the PS3

I'm getting the greyed out Start link and then "The lobby server connection has encountered an error" "2002". My concern on this one is it kicks me out of the application and I've got an authenticator so I'm burning through the numbers every time I try to get in. At least with the other errors I just needed to click on Start over and over again. Of course my preferred method of being delayed is getting into a queue so I can see the count down.

Wish there was a notification on the issue and an estimated time to check back.
