Hatching Tide hats?

Has anyone gotten anything else except the pristine egg cap? I'm trying to figure out how to unlock the further tiers. x.x Already got the first cap in Ul'dah. If anyone has any information on how to get the 20+ hats, please assist! Thank you.

It's either going to be content released each few days or upgradable by crafting.

I'd like to know the same thing. I'd be nice if the DEVS WOULD TALK TO US about it... :C

Well, according to data mining the Archon Egg, Astral Archon Egg, Colored Archon Egg, Darkened Archon Egg, Earth Archon Egg, Fire Archon Egg, Ice Archon Egg, Lightning Archon Egg, Painted Archon Egg, Umbral Archon Egg, Water Archon Egg, and Wind Archon Egg were added to the game, I intend to collect them all before turning anything in. I would hope that this is the secret to receiving the r40 cap

well first of all where do you find diffrent eggs! you only recieve earth water lightning and the archon egg! nothing else!
well i hope its more then just a bug and i hope its more then just to recieve it on a later day of the event!

Wouldnt it be cool if you had to figure it out yourself? maybe like wearing your egg hat for a while and it "evolve" to the next level after it? or finding diffrent eggs during fightning mobs?

Or maybe it really IS an egg hunt, and you can only find them with your egg cap on.

I hope whatever it is, they'll tell us what it is... I hate being left in the dark. Especially for something I can only do for a limited time.

On the day after the event, I saw someone do a shout about an umbral egg trade, and I thought they had received one.. I must have been wrong. so far I have 2 water, 2 Lightning, 2 Earth, and 1 Archon egg..

Hm...I think I see a correspondence between the non-elemental eggs and at least some of the caps. I would bet we get colored, darkened, and painted eggs later on in the event and have to collect different elemental eggs to complete the other caps, similar to how it takes an Archon egg and 3 elemental eggs to get the first cap.

After getting a second archon egg, I decided to go ahead and trade them in to the npc to get my one cap. Then I tried to go to grid with an archon egg and all 3 elemental eggs and tried to initiate the quest again, but nothing happened (It gave me the "you cannot recieve an archon egg" or whatever the correct wording is, thing.)

If you talk to the girl in Grid though, she mentions something about 10+2 or whatever and the gods or something (I did this earlier so I dont remember her words exactly), so that's 12 (I know math =D), and if you count the eggs, there are 12, so there must be some correlation, just I couldn't exactly find any hints or anything in her words..

Seems like the event will be a complete failure if SE don't give a clue soon.

But then again, the hats look dumb on everybody except lalafells so to me, the event already failed. It's obviously lala gear, just like the onion stuff.

It's never a good sign for an MMO when devs are able to get away with fixating on their favorite classes/jobs or whatever.

14 has done ok at keeping that in check so far, it's not at all as bad as say Warhammer was, but the f&@*ing lolly-fails are the class they'll obsess over if their managers don't keep them in check.

Aside from the CE helm, Onion gear looks fine on Hyur....don't see the issue. And Coatee's are definitely not targeted at Lalas.

I personally think they look cute on everyone, just onion set looks nice on anyone (with the helmet, it becomes funny for everyone). See? It's a matter of taste, please don't hasty to claim your tastes are everyone's. The rest of the community thanks you for your understanding. :o

Racist. Lalafells aren't a "class" either. Its a race. And since I AM a Lalafell, I happen to like Lalafells. And don't be butthurt just because EVERYTHING looks good on us. It doesn't mean it was catered to us.

How did you get other eggs ?
First time i start the quest in gridania i got an earth egg.
Then i keep only giving me a water egg.
I tried a different nation but got nothing else.
Please help

Keep trying, it's random. Same with me, I get a lot of water and lightning eggs, but rarely earth eggs.

I actually think the devs and the fans favourite are Miqo'te, just look at the Coatee set on a Miqo'te :S

Faq

What is remarkable about this event?
First time we get lodestone entries for an event. Your characterpicture changes too. Seems to be a timeintensive
event.

How many lodestone entries do we get?
8: 5 for the caps to get and 3 for finishing the city quest for this event in Limsa Lominsa, Uldah and Gridania.

What do i have to do?
Ask the quest NPC about an egg and give those eggs in certain combinations to the NPC besides the egg-giving/quest
NPC. Theggs, which are given , are random.

Where do i find the NPC?
They are at the main plaza of each city near the aetherytes.

Which combination do i have to give and why do i get only one egg?
There are many open questions and i can solve only some of them today. Indeed it would be nice, if somebody can help
me out with testing. I have only 1 main char and 2 sidekicks sofar and i've already wasted 4 eggs on testing purpose
by a sidekick.

What is unknown? How can i help?

A short list, what is proven and not in percent.

- At all three cities the first cap, which you can get and only get, is a “Pristine Egg Cap” 100%
- The recipe of “Pristine Egg Cap” is “Normal-Unique”, Earth, Lightning and Water Archon Egg (each egg 1x) 100%
- How do i know the recipes? The cap-giving NPC is telling you 100%
- You can take only 1 quest at time. In other words. You can't begin the quest in Gridania, if you have an open
Uldah quest 100%
- You can only get 1 egg at a time. Even if you have finished all three quests, only one NPC of the possible three will give you an egg. Which NPC is your choice, if you have finished all three quests! 100%
- You can get an egg by every NPC, whom you have done the quest or actually doing. In other words you can't get an egg without an archives entry.
- You can also give eggs to those cap-giving NPCs, for which the quest is already fullfilled, regardless if you are doing a quest in another city or not. You can exchange eggs for a cap whenever you want.100%
- Do i get other eggs e.g. fire eggs, even i have not gotten my pristine cap? No 100%
- If you finished one quest and you went to another city for another one, you get the same recipe for pristine cap
as before, regardless if you wear your prestine cap or not. 100%
- Can i get other eggs like fire, if i have gotten my pristine egg and i am on another quest? No, there is a high chance, that you need to finish all three quests first and hope for an event update (April 21st). %100
- You are only able to start a new quest, if the timer allows you to get a new egg. Don't waste anima. You can't
rush though it. You need atleast 20 hours realtime for all three 100%
- When can i get a new egg? Every 8 hours realtime + time to next anima reset. This is no glitch. The egg script is written based on anima timer. The Npc resets only after an anima reset. The 8 hours are prerequisites and have to be fullfilled before reset. In theory, you must wait nearly 12h (worst case). 100%
-Finishing all 3 quests needs either tossing your pristine egg cap or giving it a retainer. The cap giving npc only accepts the eggcombination of pristine cap and tells you to get rid off your previous cap.
- If you have finished all three quest, there is no change for the event. The NPC accepts only pristine eggcombination.
Neither the spriggans nor the NPCs are telling you something new in all three cities. The given eggs are the same too. 100%
-If all three quests are done, the event npcs get a new exclamation mark/quest flag. 100%
- The R15 Chocobo egg cap needs a “normal” unique Archon egg too 80%
- The higher caps (R20+) need correspondent unique egg of the rank (e.g. unique R40 egg to R40 cap) 50%

High Speculation, can only prove some in the next few days without percentage

- The unreachable exclamation mark west of botanist guild is involved. I don't think so.
- Crafting is not involved for this event. I and others tried armorer and goldsmithing to no avail. There are no HQ variants known ingame, but datamining found even a pristine egg cap +3. There is a chance, that they can be crafted later. There are archon eggs +3 in the data, too.
- The missing eggs can't be collected by disciple of land.
- The missing eggs are not dropped by mobs,
- The missing eggs can't be gotten by other NPCs in the cities, regardless if you have fullfilled all sidequests so far.
-The missing eggs can't be gotten by leves, neither by crafting rewards, faction or regional rewards.
- The missing eggs can't be found in chests.
- If you have finished your quest at one or all cities (!), the recipe could change, but it doesn't do for me.
- How do i get the chocobo cap? Someone mentioned, you must equip the pristine cap first. For testing purpose please
equip the prestine cap after you got it, if you speak with the event NPCs. After equipping you should try to fullfill the recipe requirements.
- Can i avoid to get “3” pristine caps (unique, so you will most likely loose 2 anyways). Highly speculative,
because i havn't calculated this test szenario at the beginning, which i regret now.
If you finish your first quest for pristine and finish the 2nd recipe (most likely the chocobo cap) without (!)
taking another quest, then you could have the chance to avoid getting another pristine in the next city.
Why? In my opinion the R20 to R40 caps are specific to each city. Please see the cosplay of the NPCs. In my theory
you can get pristine and chocobo at each city but only the cosplay cap at the specific city. If this is correct, a
new quest will start directly with the recipe of the higher rank cap, if you got both lower rank caps in another
city before. Bad enough i am already on the 2nd quest with 2 chars without trying this (to 99% wrong without an event update)
- Do i need rank requirments for this event e.g. R40 cap only for R40+ jobs? No idea. I don't think so. Too many
would cry.
- Oher recipes: unknown

This revision is written with all quests done, egg cap equipped and all 4 known eggs in inventory.

We should be getting some update tomorrow if they're planning on updating the event on a weekly basis until the beginning of May.

I think they've somehow tied the lore of this game into the date of Easter for us. I'm hoping something big is going to start happening on Sunday..

Well, if you want some random guesses, the element eggs and the verses both point to an order...its explained bt Bricot in Gridania...and, while we can't trade eggs in certain order, we do can speak with NPCs in this order.

Note that they're exactly the weather that happens at 3 nations (Jihli verses also say something about weathers)...Ul'dah has sandstorm (earth), Limsa has rain (water) and Gridania has thunderstorm (lightning)...here what bricot says:

Bricot: Once we have all the eggs, Jihli'll ready the summoning. Oh, and I'll help! I remember exactly what she told me! The Archon egg goes in the, um, middle, and the others go around it. Lightning, then water, then earth...or was it water, then lightning, then earth...or...um...

Also, we can see that these 3 elements are related....so lightning is supposed to be in the middle since, no matter the orderit is the middle (earth > lightning > water or water < lightning < earth) so it could indicate an order of talking.

But, anyway, its just completely random guesses...but i'd love to see the event having an update triggered sunday (since the new caps are already ingame i don't think a patch would be needed...just like events have timer to end they might have timer to start too if needed).

We brought it on ourselves I guess. We asked for a more intricate holiday event. They gave us one. We asked for puzzles and riddles to solve that tie into the lore of the world. Well, here you go.

It might smack of gimmickry ... but now that I know that this is more than "collect eggs, turn in eggs, get a hat" I'm going to be an egg collecting fool then next 2-3 days.

To be honest, trying to figure this out is my favorite part of the game at the moment. This sort of deep open engagement is the what I love.

I find it completely annoying, I don't mind a challenge but they don't give you anything but some silly riddle to draw a conclusion from. Why not post something on Lodestone about the complete history of the event as a bigger hint.

For the record, here's the verse you get when you start one of the egg quests. In case anyone wants to give it a look (I copied it from the LL NPC, and I'm from Ul'dah, so, btw):

From a land not our own, a hero will come
To answer the song the Archons have sung.

And with his strong hands, an egg he will grasp
To grant it his warmth, for this is his task.

Yet one will not serve, as all lack a mother.
Twelve grant him strength to take up another.

A Twelve-fold vision to the Dreamer is due,

The first three stanzas appear to just be talking about getting eggs, holding onto them, and getting more.

The fourth stanza could indicate getting the Pristine hat from the eggs, or it could indicate that there's something more the Dreamer can somehow do if we figure out how to trigger it. It could also just be talking about the imbuing of the elemental energies into the eggs before we're given them.

The fifth stanza could again indicate the crafting of the Pristine hat, the passing of the archon and elemental eggs to the NPC, or some other effect that we haven't seen yet.

The sixth stanza seems to talk about something we haven't figured out yet. "...the circle is paced" could talk about an actual physical route to take, an order of NPCs to talk to, or something else. I'm actually not sure.

At this point I should probably go back to the Lodestone and see if there's anything else I can glean....

Wonder if crafting jobs paint them or something.
My lodestone profile is also not an egg hat any more. That's suspicious.

The verses changes from NPC to NPC. Only verses that stay the same are the ones sung by the NPC from where you already completed the quest.

I tried copying Jihli ones yesterday, but due full screen the ctrl + C only copied one verse at a time. Rukkirii could be nice and post the full verses for us! @_@ (or have them added at quests' journal)

Jihli's in Gridania, right?

I got my Archon egg this morning, so once I get my hands on a water egg and earth egg I can finish that quest and move on to Grid. I can copy those lines down at that point.
