Aspects of SCH seemingly not working as intended:

I have some feedback regarding my experiences healing as a SCH.

1. Selene's AI doesn't properly manage her buffs. Both buffs have a 30 second duration and a 60 second cooldown. Her AI should rotate them automatically. Right now she will only use one.

2. The Malboro Fruit in Aurum Vale needs to cure pet debuffs as well. The fight is pretty broken when your fairy dies every 20 seconds.

3. Our shield should reset the duration of itself if reapplied before wearing off. It you Succor and then Adloquium, the Adloquium barrier won't overwrite the Succor barrier even though it would mitigate more damage. It also seems silly that we can't reapply a shield before the old one wears off.

The pet AI in general is abysmal. It feels as if the fairy was meant to be summoned and left alone. The most frustrating thing about Selene is I will tell her to use the melee skill speed buff and she then overwrites it with the spell speed buff as soon as it is off of CD. Why don't the buffs stack anyway? There is no real fear of it being overbalanced. The only work around is to tell her to cast the spell speed buff and then overwrite it yourself for melee heavy parties. These points are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to pet micro though.

To be honest, I enjoy having the Fairy AI take care of embrace. The cooldowns need better AI or a better system for us to manage them.

it does overwrite it if it's better, I don't know how you missed that, similarly a critical Adloquium overwrites a normal one but not the opposites.

You mean the aspect where you have a AI fairy heal for you? its like tanks having a AI pet to tank half the time for them.

Seems abit retarded to me, i get the SCH have to do some heals them selves, and i imagine the positioning of the fairy is important but seems abit of a cheat to me.

But gota love a cute half naked fairy floating around you, lol

Honestly one of the biggest issues I am having with an otherwise beloved class is being unable to direct your pet while casting. Even not being a scholar yet, I find it causing issues in my arcanist solo play when I cannot tell topaz to go tank something, less of a deal in party play.

I have been super excited about becoming a scholar, but now I am hoping they fix some of these issues soon before I get there and have to deal with them too >.>

This, so much. Why can't we tell our pet to do things while we're casting? To me that's the point of pets in the first place. Pet control is the should be a skill marker for this class, and yet we're not allowed to take our game to that next level.

Exactly! It should be a benchmark, the difference between an average player and a great one. There is so much POTENTIAL here, lying wasted and unused.

Question for you scholar folks out there already. Does the party UI overlay the absorbs on hp bars at all, or do I just get a buff icon that disappears when the absorb is gone. One of the few things I am missing from my wow healing days are the raid frames that show incoming heals and absorb overlays, so I can better gauge how much my heal will do in comparison to their hp pool or in the case of an absorb, when it is about to pop.

This is another reason why I wish phase 4 was longer and they let us test these jobs. Playing SCH can be extremely frustrating because of said issues OP pointed out >.<

I actually disagree that you should be able to order your pet during a cast. It'd be a bigger testament of skill to be aware of what's happening, what's going to happen, and directing your fairy and timing your own casts in accordance to the situation. I feel that SCH should be more about making decisions and planning for something that is coming, while WHMs should have powerful heals that are more about reactions.

I strongly agree that the fairy AI should be looked at though. Besides the buffs and important spells just triggering on their own, it feels really lazy to be able to just have a mini-healer do half your job for you.

One thing I want to point out is we DO have the option to set the pet AI to where we can reserve certain skills for us to trigger solely, and just have the fairies do the Auto-embrace thing. I forget which stance it is right now (perils of the stupid 1017), but it works pretty well for that...

Beyond that, based on what I've experienced playing right now, it seems CNJ/WHM is designed for aoe/group healing, whereas SCH is designed for single target/tank healing. Both have merits and both work well, but it's all in how you play them. For thsoe who play(ed) WoW, it seems to be the difference between Disc and Holy priests. One specializes in mitigation and single target, one specializes in area/group/burst healing.
