Is this still going to happen next week, the week after, next month?
Seriously, why can't something be done about this!?!

it will be fixed next year i promise
If you just play in the japan servers its wide open. No love for NA/EU.
New server upgrades this next few days. It's been said before.
Just like the last ff14 horrible launch. GG square.
It will fix itself. I promise. About the time Elder Scrolls Online releases...
Was finally able to log in for the first time in four days. Played for about 35 mins and was booted from the server. All I can say is awesome. Have all these people logged in for hrs and hrs on end doing absolutely nothing just saving their spot on the server so they wont get locked out. However people out leveling and progressing get removed.
Being on vacation i've been lucky enough to log in for a few hours at odd time. That said most of my gaming time is, and will be, in prime time. I've no doubt that the problem will be sorted, either with increased servers or with the inevitable subs drop after launch. My only gripe, being an unlucky ff14 v 1.0 customer, is that i won't probably be able to get much out of my 14 free days. I think those are foundamental for a lot of people to judge the product after its previous debacle. The market is changed a lot and to require a subscription you really have to put a lot on the table with so many free alternatives. Does a realm reborn has what it takes? I don't know, can't say if i can't play. I won't subscribe out of blind trust. I did that the previous time and got burned badly..
Yeah waiting in 1017 limbo is just great. I want to get PLD today.

I've only gotten to lvl 16 so far, but I do think the game itself is solid and fun.
I know these "growing pains" will be resolved eventually, I would just like to see a stronger response from Square Enix than, "Be patient, we're working on it."
Don't worry, I made a gameplay video for the 1017 error.
FFMXVII: A Realm Rebroken
Enjoy!
How about you READ the dev posts instead of making ANOTHER 1017 thread. Everyone wanting to see more from Square Enix apparantly aren't reading the news they put out.
What news? The ones about how they're "working on it" and are "going to fix it"? I think we've seen those ones.

All the information one would need.
Why is there no auto-disconnect for players who have been afk 20-30 minutes? There is absolutely no reason to allow players to AFK indefinitely now that retainers have taken the place of bazaars. This would keep a fresh cycle of players connecting to the server and cut down on the 1017s significantly.
Also, why do we see 1017 instead of getting put into a queue? Is there queue system really that poorly designed that it can't handle more than a few hundred people?
This launch has been a freaking joke. The few times I have managed to get in, I am forced to leave the game running all day while I am gone, wasting electricity, just so I will be able to play during primetime--which just so happens to be the only time that I have free to play.

This from your vaunted "dev post":
"Resolving AFK Character Issues
From several users on some of our more congested Worlds, we have received requests for a feature which automatically logs out characters who are AFK for an extended period of time. We are actively looking into the implementation of such a feature, but have decided to first concentrate our efforts on increasing the number of Worlds and optimizing the Duty Finder servers."
You're right, that answers my every question. Or not.

So the programmers are working on the servers. No wonder its taking so long, they are sitting there with Servers for Dummies trying to figure out what to do.
For the simple minded ill make it clearer. That is 2 different departments. It would be like going to the grocery store and being told they cant check you out in til the butcher cuts some meat.

Hoveurt = fangirl. You've seen this before. As have I.
SE FIX IT!!
Are you not embarrassed?
Actually pal, I'm just sick of seeing the SAME EXACT THREAD when there are over 200 pages of a 1017 thread already going. I'm a guy so IF I were white knighting it would be Fanboy.
I won't stop posting helpful post's because of a little anonymous hatred.
I was pretty pissed too on day one (24th) with the slew of problems, stayed pissed until the dev team started giving answers instead of apologies. We're getting comped time and probably going to get a pretty badass in game item. (meta thinking of course)
Bash me all you wan't, but coming here to complain without seeking answers first just adds to the poor state of the community.
at least put a damn queue line X_X lol

Just going by the avatar picture you chose to represent yourself. Dude.
Here's the deal: nobody has appointed you the arbiter of what we can talk about. Griping, "venting" if you will, when frustrated is normal and cathartic. If you're tired of reading it, skip the '1017' threads.
But you won't do that. Self-righteousness is no fun at all in a lonely room.
And for the record, that dev post did not address the 1017 issue in any meaningful way. They're "working on it". I get that. Why was auto-disconnect not implemented at launch? There is no down side to it.
