Arcanist Pets need to have "Obey" as a TOGGLE, not a command.

Very simple.

Make it so when you use "Obey", it toggles the pet behavior.
Currently Obey is a command that tells your pet to attack, why not just make it a stance of some sort?

Sic then becomes a generic attack command, and your pet will either use the special skills if Obey is off, or refrain from using them if Obey is on.

This would bring a LOT of control to the Arcanist class, and prevent a lot of accidental skill use. Emerald Carbuncle/Garuda using their level 40 skill with no DoTs on the mob because you didn't tell it to Obey is awful.

Another great feature would be to automatically make your pet "Heel" when you run too far after using "Place". Often times I see people do this, then they run out of range of their pet and it unsummons.

This would be amazing. I'd prefer to be able to toggle individual abilities on and off admittedly, but this'd be a great change.

In a similar vein, why is the default stance to guard? Why does the stance reset when the pet is re-summoned? We should be able to pick a stance and have the summon stick in that stance until we change it manually ourselves regardless of anything else.

We need toggle on/off for pet skills. Please use World of warcraft pet controls. Its good.

And also pet commands ARE BLOCKED while main character is doing a action like using a skill. It makes no sense you can only give commands when not doing anything.

Please fix asap.

Yes, please fix the Sic/Obey issues, they should be toggled or use the WOW style toggling of specific pet skills. It makes playing the ACN/SMN far more of a pain than it should be right now. We also need the ability to add pet skills to macros. I'm seriously missing the ability to macro /pet attack to my primary skills like i could in every other mmo with a pet class that i've played.

For once I wish they would copy WoW.
Pet controls are really bad in this game.

Even just being able to command your pets while casting would be a godsend.

how about when mounted? nothings worse than running through aggressive mobs and losing my summon because i can't click heel.... -_-

Agreed. Especially as a Scholar, it sucks that I can't move my fairies into position when I'm casting. Fights where my fairy gets knocked back become pretty annoying because of this.

This would also be great. I lose my summon almost every time I travel in this game, they always die or despawn fighting aggro'd mobs.

We need better summon models. Like seriously, these are a joke.

Years later and sic/obey is still an issue. FFS! Sic/Obey should be a CLIENT-SIDE DEFAULT! Not a SERVER-side default! I don't pay my fairy to do whatever SHE wants!

Obey, Sic, Guard, etc all drive me bonkers. Oh the times I accidentally pulled the boss because I clicked "Obey" when targeting the boss.

I don't really mind it the way that it is now, but I wouldn't be opposed to it either, I suppose.

What I'd rather see is across-the-board pet "slots" for the hotkeys so you don't have to have all four Garuda keys and all four Ifrit keys keybound, just when you summon Garuda it shows hers and when you summon Ifrit it shows his.

To break it down, instead of keybinding Contagion, I would keybind "Pet Action #4" and then with Garuda out, that keybind becomes contagion, and with Ifrit out it becomes Flaming Crush, with all recasts reflected appropriately. Then in the event that you ever need to micromanage Titan it'd also already be keybound, etc.

Let no one say necromancy isn't a thing, we just bore witness to it!

As for the topic, well... the Summoner job at least as a whole could use an overhaul so...... As for the faeries, I keep them on Obey anyway always when I play SCH.

OMG, I was enjoying lev my SMN UNTIL I'd heard you need to keep pets on OBEY, then in NN some mentors were telling me that was old, and they keep pets on SIC. I'm so confused, being a FF newbie I have enough to worry about trying to keep up with my rotation. So now it's back to keeping pets on OBEY ? Guess I'll just STOP playing my SMN!

there is a simple rule: never trust a mentor. mentors uhm... have a reeeeaaaally bad reputation and you will not find many of the better players between them.

YOu can keep Ifrit on sic, but Garuda you generally want on obey so as she doesn't use Contagion uselessly or knock back mobs in dungeons. When you get better keep Ifrit on obey too, and use radiant shield for raid wide aoes etc. But don't let it discourage you!

But yes, having obey/sic as a stance would be great, with a separate 'engage' button. Top tip though, if you use a swift cast summon macro, put /pac "Obey" <me> somewhere on it so as your pet doesn't accidentally engage the enemy.

I know it would be better if directly implemented, but you can use a macro to mimic that with the /hotbar place thing (macro to summon Garuda AND place her actions, AND put her on obey, and another macro to summon ifrit, puts him on SiC and puts his skills in the same spots)

The only difference I have with this is using Garuda, who I tend to use at level in the open world, where I leave her on Sic.

Then one for Ifrit and Titan too, keeping the aoe, buff/debuff and stun/knockback on the same buttons (for example, Contagion is replaced by Radiant Shield when switching to Ifrit) to help with muscle memory.

are u using ifrit on obey as well? else... I don't see a reason to change their skills with a macro.. – well I use similar macros on Sch but never needed them for Smn tho.. just wondering : o

I certainly do, I like having control over the stun, and also timing Radiant Shield for things like raid-wide aoes or waiting until the tank has pulled the whole pack. Is annoying when he pops his shield just as the last mob n a pack dies...
