Why the fuck would you put me in a queue if you're just going to 1017 me? Square Enix, this is just rude.

It's not rude. It's an error. Its not like it was done on purpose.
Just please, keep your pants on until they i ncrease capacity.
These threads are becoming more hilarious.
I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that 1017 is not an error. It is a signal that everything is full. Which I don't know why I'm in a queue if it's going to 1017.
I forgot to load my prepaid debit card (which I use for all internet things since my CC got ripped off a few months ago). Soo they could not charge me for the CE I ordered, so tonight I wont be able to play anymore! I did it on accident but turns out I now cant buy a copy of the game anyways digitally. So guess I am going to just wait till they fix these issues then buy the game. Since I cant login anyways because of 1017 error anyways. So in my case they might have accidentally lost me as a customer. Weeeeeeee.
a few hundred thousand simultaneous users tells me that it wasn't botched by any meaning of the word. Most MMOs would kill for that many simultaneous users.
We all know about the problems, and we also know they're working to fix them. there is no point or value in a being a bitter jerk, it won't get things fixed faster. They already explained in great detail why their level of preperation for the current number of users was off the mark. Stop being a <something> and either hate them forever and leave, or suck it up and wait.
I'm not excusing the fact that they made mistakes, but if it was as "botched" as you say it was, it would already have empty servers and be terminating service in a few months
your free time lasts at least until the 10th (1.0 players) or some time past that (new player free trial). So you should still be able to play 9or try to at least) well beyond the time they're supposed to have straightened this out by.Quote:
I have played through the launch of many MMOs. EQ, EQ2, Vanguard, AO, DAOC, Eve, GW2. None of them wouldn't let me play for days at a time. None of them had this issue. (Granted, AO and Vanguard had problems, but you could at least play). We may not be paying for time yet, but we did pay for the game. I don't understand how people like you defend this nonsense. It's as if SE is paying you and not the other way around.
If you bought a new car, would you be supporting the manufacturer if it only started 1 out of 5 days? I don't understand the blind loyalism video game companies seem to get.
The night is dark, and full of terrors

I get where you are coming from, am I pissed off yes. Am I going to cancel my sub and quit the game, hell no. I think this game is amazing all around, yes we have issues getting on, but why the hell do we keep trying to get on, because it is that good, it is amazing, it's not blind loyalty its knowing what they have is great and having faith that they will not only do the right thing for us, but they will make good on this situation.
They are working on it, Yoshi put out a nice message not to long ago about the state of everything, and honestly its more than just another "I'm sorry" it had a plan of action behind it. This is temporary, to get up and rage quit... thats forever, and you know this game is way to good to pass up over a hiccup.
For other mmos its okay if they messed up their launch as most of them are either buy to play or free to play.
But ffxiv is a whole different story. We are paying to play this game. We are being charged monthly. So it is not acceptable that while we are paying them, we cant play because of their mistake. Sure mistakes happen, but this is something that can be avoided right from the start. We are paying them therefore theres no excuse for them that they lack the funds to pay for upgrading their servers.
Yes the error sucks....but you know what get a controller for that computer....spam "A" or "x" you get on...normally takes me 15 as i watch some anime....to all you that also keep going...bla bla bla square messed up is second launch of ffxiv....do the above. funny thing is i am on when i want to be on because of spamming the log in, as i lazily watch anime and omg it takes the frustration away..and so can you.....just read the above text and life will be better. So please stop these post its a known issue nothing more should be said. They announce new sever compactly. They listen its in the works!.....
Ps: threads like this get funnier everyday....you people are so addicted...and so am I lol...and also if i sound mean in this post i am not trying to be...just telling the truth and personal past experiences..
Oh and one more thing free trail is extended you are not paying monthly fees yet. i personally have 63 days free. so all you demanding money back...they got the compensation taken care of..if that still isn't enough....then dispute the purchase charge for ffxiv with the bank.
None of those games were so hugely popular that the companies making them couldn't possibly fathom how much stress it would put on the servers.
Also bad analogy is bad, and you should feel bad. It's not at all like a manufacturer selling you a car that you can only drive 1/5th of the time. It's closer to a company selling millions of cars, so many that you can't even get the thing out of the parking lot to drive it, because it's so popular that everyone is doing the same.
inb4 default "white knight" remark, go to excuse of bads who don't know what they're actually talking about.
Say what you will, but I'd bet all you people defending the game have yet to log off......BECAUSE IT HAS NO AUTO-KICK FOR AFK. As if this were the first MMO ever made and not 2013. Combined with the lack of server capacity, it's just a mind boggling lack of foresight and/or ineptitude.
Oh.. it's an error.. I thought it was this.. Login Mini Game
ha you think thats bad, I was #1 in the que, #1!!! Then it went to the loading screen and I thought I was finally getting in...only to get error 1017!!! Nooooo.
these post are just fun to read now.
you know we just beat the record of "players online at the same time" for a Japanese game? never tought that might be the cause
taken fromthis site/

Just yesterday we learned that the game had broken the record for concurrent connections (users online at the same time) for an online game operated by a Japanese company with 187,000 users online at the same time, and today’s numbers are even higher.
1) He is able to play the game. It's his own fault for choosing to play on a full server. Sure, he might have a character on that server already, but launches always have issues with full servers. If he doesn't want to wait, then he can play a temporary character on a lower pop server.
2) Not the same game in the slightest. The only things that transferred over were characters and lore. The game was rebuilt with an entirely different engine.
3) They haven't botched anything. If this is your first MMO, I can understand why you don't understand that. The first week of an MMO launch always has these problems. Even SWTOR, which had the smoothest launch ever, had queues that were up to 10 hours long.
1. ...but all of the servers are either full or locked.
2. It's still a second chance run, not many companies get those.
3. They HAVE botched this launch. What you fail to grasp is that the magnitude of error in this particular launch is unprecedented. As others have already stated, never in my long MMO history has a game that I'VE PAID FOR ever told me "we're full go away" in so many words. Everyone whose feeling frustrated has a right to be and they have a right to complain. Personally, I don't care if it bothers you. It makes me feel better.
It comes down to this. What is the point of a queuing system, if it will tell you at the end of the queue that it is full. Isn't the queuing system supposed to know the current load and let you in as the load eases up? Call me crazy but that is how I would interpret a queue system. You're in line to be let in as capacity permits.
Yea, 1017 here as well. I was 111 in queue and then after 30 seconds I was 110 in queue and then 30 seconds it was back to the FF14 Mini Login Game.
I love the game but this is really sad, especially since this is their second attempt at this title. After such a terrible performance the first time around you think they would have gone a bit overboard on this attempt to avoid this kind of problem. It's not like they can't see how many subscribers they have or how many people bought the game, they know these numbers. They should have known from those numbers how much they were going to get hit and said "Wow, we're gonna need a bigger boat."
Also, add an AFK kick timer to the game. I know of a lot of people who do not log out unless they get kicked off. They stay logged in while at work and while sleeping. Hell I bet 25% of the people on at any given time have been AFK for hours.
Get those servers updated Square...
Amusingly enough, this is my solution, as well. I've got the PS3 controller in hand, with the login server on the big screen, and I'm watching anime streamed through Hulu on my laptop as I wait. I've yet to get through a full episode of anything before I get in to play, except in the 9pm to 12a "peak time."
Folks, take a deep breath, calm down, give them some time to blow the man down. This is an awesome game, and we all love it, so give them time to work the kinks out.
If you guys complaining, would stop for a second and actually read things. You would know SE has more servers and they will he functional by next week. You're paying monthly? Umm idk about you but up to even today I haven't had to use my product code. And my account is still on ea. Why? Oh ya.... Because SE extended it because of server issues. No one is paying monthly yet, not you, not me ,not new players or legacy.
Wow, you managed to be incorrect on both counts.
No, all of the servers are not locked or full. That's simply not the case.
No, the launch has not been botched. Millions are playing the game. And your very words betray you, since you either A) don't have a long history with MMOs at all if you don't understand that the first week of launch is always like this, or B) you're purposefully trolling.
Yeah, you paid for the game and you can play it. You might have to play on a server that you didn't plan to play on, but that doesn't mean you're incapable of playing. At any time there are plenty of servers you'd be able to log into with no problems. If you want to play on a specific server that has a high pop, then you're going to have to wait... like every other major MMO launch in history.
Nothing bothers me about your whining. But I do have to correct people when they make false claims.
Server issues don't equal a botched game...the game itself is amazing. Server woes are typical in MMO launches because for most it's a flavor of the month and they're all looking for the next big thing. SE didn't botch this, blame all the tards who are AFK in game and keeping the rest of us out.
