Is there not a timeout for people who are logged in? If they're afk for a certain period of time does this game not kick them out? I would hope they have a system like that in place...especially now. I've been trying to log in for about an hour now with no luck....seems I can only play at late night hours. I hope that people can't stay afk for an unlimited amount of time....
unfortunatly viscaria no idle kicks yet. They "Claim" they may look into one later, but if they follow the footsteps of FFXI then they will simply Not have one. Lets just hope thats not the case.
also check out my petition your not the only one who cant login, especially when your limited to timeframes you can play. --- > http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l-Queue-System <---
Nope no time limit they can stay logged in all night and day as long as the client doesn't crash and that's a problem. There is no afk boot.
Bots and gold sellers would replace those that were afk. It would accomplish nothing. I'm not saying there should be one in place, but putting an AFK timeout would not fix much right now.
If x player gets kicked offline for being afk, one more person would fill that spot that plays. not being hostile and I'm not disagreeing, but there are far more problems right now than someone afking because they got fed up with trying to get in for hours on end.
not really as it would force log out everyone and then anyone that is really interested in playing would simply log in after the given time of servers being down. This would remove probably close to half the populations of every server currently logged in as I have seen countless of those little red "AFK" chairs next to peoples names while walking through the towns and aetheryte camps
This is beyond frustrating, its stressful :(

I recalled a few games doing a daily or a weekly server reboot. As long as you know when it's happening. Like an hour before or two hours before you should more than finish your dungeon. If you don't then that's your fault for trying to squeeze one last one in. But it would kick off a lot of the people whom afk since they're gone for most of the day anyways. The idea isn't bad and the fact that they haven't proceeded to do it is a bit disappointing.
wasn't suggesting a daily reset, as I had said prior " implement a afk-timeout then restart the servers" but upon further reflection and reading other posts this would prove to just allow more bots in, instead of those of us that actually wish to be productive inside the game.
I say give people 30 - 1 hr then kick em'.
Because some on this is fuckin' tiresome.
I wouldn't object to kind of a lengthy AFK timeout, I think an hour or two would be a good number. I still think the servers would be just as full as they are now though regardless of the AFK boots.
Not near as many as there are people that cant play or even buy the game at this point. SE should have seen that servers are needed if they are going to limit the amount of subscribers on one server at any given time. I work with several people that want to buy the game now but cant because they pulled the game due to no room on the servers...
Message from YoshiP regarding current situation - http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...72#post1111872
Not really, they are trying to implement a method that will give better result if it works, if it doesn't then they will have to think otherwise and implement the AFK over time = kick feature.
Yep this is getting a little annoying need to increase Q size
Great, so now more people will be able to afk, i mean access the game...
Finally a half decent response from Yoshi-P, which most people were looking for.
Though I am still of the all or none theory >.< or kicking based on the amount of game time logged, so that others have a chance to enjoy the game, however wishful thinking would never happen, just venting!
Going on 10 hours and I never thought I would say this but I am about done with this game its just to frustrating.
you know i have only had an issue with this once and that was before release. Now its over population on the server that makes it lag really really bad can't do anything . As for the guy who said kick based on time played. did you mean that anyone that is able to play many hours should be kicked just becaues they have been able to or did you mean those that are idle? Because if you mean the former you need to get a clue if the latter i agree.
Well if we simply had an understanding community who knows there are people waiting to play and would log out instead of AFK when they are done, we would all be better off. I could care less if it pisses people off if they restart the servers. At least it would give those of us that which are trying to play the game for 8 hours with no success, a chance to play for a change if nothing else.
Screw that i'm logging in on PC tomorrow morning and staying logged on 24/7 forget SE.I would feel bad about others not being able to log on,but since I got 50 spammed RMT messages at this point I don't care....................good luck
Kick out all AFK people! I've been logging out every time when I was able to log in ....
Is the search function broken or something?
Nope... used advanced search and in a manner of seconds I found links to the threads I had put up on these things the other day, trying to get some people riled up and talking about such concepts.
I simply searched on "reboot servers" and got 67 hits to not only threads on scheduling reboots, but remedies for auto-kick as well--my posts from just a couple days ago were at the top, and were just on the front page again last night.

Unfortunately, posts meant to bring forth solutions just keep getting pushed to the back pages because of all the new duplicate posts clogging the front page.
Please people, unless you are going to be dedicated to trying to keep a thread active and on the front page to keep a conversation going for a while, take a moment to check if your idea hasn't already been put out there recently before starting a new thread. Even if you aren't comfortable with the advanced search tool, simply putting your posts to display setting to a higher value may allow you to see your idea already up on the first two pages--you can make it show 40 posts per page.
