Priority for character visualization

I play on ps3 and this is the actual priority on loading something on screen

Arcanist's pets
Companions
Other players
Enemies

On ps3 or due to my internet connection there is a limit on elements on screen. This lead to big FATE (maybe 20-40 ppl with both pet and companion) to become a mass of ifrit/titan/garuda/chocobo that fight alone. Occasionally i see spawm a player or a little add but i tried twice and i couldn't see how the NM in vigil is like

This need reconsideration. Other player's pets and companions should be the last thing you load

One other bug (i hope is not intentional)

If i have no target and press X in fate i target the monster even if surrounded by players. Then why if there is a pet i target him? Change this. Getting to a mob that is hunted by many players if pets are around is really awful and i don't see why i ever want to target a other player's pet when targetting

I tried out the PS3 version in Beta 4- the targeting was not super desirable- however, I believe there are some options to alter some of the targeting defaults- have you tried any of those out?

Posting in here to hopefully keep it somewhat alive. I am on PS3 and I have to say that the loading priorities are horrible. I noticed issues of the loading priorities first in East shroud around lv 22. This was day 1 of early access. Fates would start and masses of people would rush in to try and get credit. Players would start vanishing from the screen, leaving just a bunch of carbuncles. occasionally players would show up and if I was lucky, the FATE monsters would appear long enough for me to know where to cast Blizz2 so I could get some credit.



The lag/loading cap/loading priority issue (don't really know what to call the issue in specific) can cause a lot of problems to PS3 players. It also affects attack/spell animations. Ill have my BLM cast Blizz2, and he'll just stay in casting pose since the PS3 is having a heart attack trying to load everything on screen. Coerthas so far is the worst (haven't gotten further yet).

The FATEs leading up to Svara...90% of the time I don't see the wyverns/monsters on screen. i see a mix of ifrit and titan egis (an occasional fairy and carbuncle too) as well as chocobos. Players will run to the monsters and just vanish.

In Svara's Fate, the dragon doesn't even show up 99% of the time. He'll show up for a couple seconds and vanish again. This issue is only going to get worse if there is a cap to what can be loaded on screen by the PS3. What happens when you go into an alliance raid and things start vanishing? There are two world Primals where you'll have a shed load of people coming in to kill Behemoth and/or Odin. PS3 users will have problems there too because You need to see the boss to not die and to target in order to get credit.

Please address this issue Dev's. FATEs are impossible to participate in at this point on PS3 because the FATE ends before the monsters even load. Monsters should be the first thing to load and my characters actions should be a higher priority than loading other peoples characters/pets and NPCs.

AGREED. I noticed this too in cities where there are no mass sets of enemies. Carbuncles seemed for the most part without an owner.

Posting this because Behemoth has just spawned on Leviathan and absolutely nothing loaded. We fought him in Snowdrift and there was so much death because nothing would load for PS3 players. So many were complaining due to him not rendering. We then chased him to his dominion, in which he only showed up on screen for moments. Then the final battle against Behemoth. The dominion seemed desolate, even though the battle was happening. I followed the markers of attacks that left dark circles on the ground in order to try and do something. That did little it seemed. When I finally died, characters started rendering and I knew where he was, though Behemoth never rendered on screen. The loading priority needs to change so PS3 players can actually experience FATEs. Seeing the monsters is much more productive than seeing a hundred pets and chocobos running around.

I'm glad for your support, let's hope dev will answer to us. They are doing a great job so far. Just some adjustment needed

Yeah. Super big problem in FATEs like Svara or Behemoth. They rarely show up on screen at all due to the amount of people. You'd think priority would go something like You > Enemies > party members > others

I agree! I hope they'll change this thing, it's impossible to do FATE on ps3 this way.

I totally agree with this, after 2 failed attempts at Svara because I couldn't see her, this really needs looking into.

NPCs/monsters should always load first, Then players in your party/alliance, then pets from players in your party/alliance, then other players and their pets/companions. The day i got my preorder bonus items, i spent what seemed like at least 5 minutes staring at where the delivery moogle was, because more and more people kept spawning

This is an issue that is not relegated to the ps3 alone. Behemeoth, Svara, and Odin are all pretty much a waste of time for me at this point because the mob just keeps disappearing at random.

Agreed. A few times now I've showed up to a FATE that has barely started, and stood around for its entire duration while I wait for the mobs to load. Its not always like this, but when it does happen it can be pretty frustrating

One thing i noticed meanwhile

If i cast blizzard 2 near where companions are battling the umbral ice get refreshed even if i don't see the dragon and i get the reward. So if you don't see the boss, spam nontarget AOE in the position and you should at least get contribute bonus

As a workaround - definitelly not as a (final) solution - first of all even if you don't have mob rendered on screen you should be able to "select" it using F11 (or some other targeting keys available). Secondly - you can change in the setting which actions are displayed, taking of most (all) of them apart your own might help a bit here too.

Well, if mob is not rendered i can't target him. Worst, if i had it targetted and he disappear i am left with no target at all =/
Where are exactly those settings please? I'll definitly try to turn them off and see if this will ease the problem

I'll try that again tonight but I think I've managed to actually target the "invisible" mob this way in some FATEs. The settings are in the System (or Character? can't check it rihgt now) setting. If you'll not find it let me know and I'll post the exact location once back home.

Honestly, I would think the solution would be as simple as giving us the ablility to turn on/off non party(alliance) member companions/pets, as well as non party(alliance) players. Aion had this, and it made doing anything where there was a mass of people ALOT less laggy. We can already turn off peoples shadows and such, why not turn them off entirely.

even this can be a solution but i find best way is make them lower priority, render them only if all other things are rendered =o so if you don't have the resources to show them they are hidden, otherwise they will be shown without drowbacks (well, excluding epilessy in limsa lominsa XD)

seems like it should be simple to just add a button to turn off/on various aspects pointed out in this thread.

-off/on check box (or even better a hotbar command :) )companion, pets, non-targetted monsters in fates ( or more specifically, monsters that you don't care about, like you only want to see the main monster and any adds for a fate, and maybe aggroing regular spawn mosters (that have actually aggro'd someone), not all the surrounding regular spawn mobs), characters outside party/alliance

- I think a huge part of this, and expecially the video a page or so back, is to turn off character visualizations (which is already in the game if I recall...I'm at work so I can't check either).

-I'm sure it would be nice to have a visualization order something like this: self>party/alli>target monster>fate adds>aggro monsters>other players>pets>choco's>companions...but honestly I don't care about seeing pets or choco's very much, and i definitely don't want to see a baby behemoth or a chigoe or something, and I'm not sure how complex the code for visualization order would be compared to just adding an on/off switch....at least for now, on/off switch would be much more useful.

I can't fate grind because the mob won't pop up on the ps3 this is not good at all I play tank class. How can I do my job if I can't see the mob. I had to go back to questing if I wanted to lv. Been so frustrated it has lead me to fish and lv low classes all day

Buuuump. I just upgraded my Internet today from 6 mb dsl to 50 mb cable hoping to alleviate the issue but still no change in fates which is the main problem but duty finder is much better now
