Playing on JP world... Any different than NA/EU?

No kidding... The NA/EU worlds are full!

Out of curiosity... Since there seems to be almost no full JP worlds, is it any different to play on a JP world other than most likely running into the Japanese?

NPCs and quests still in English since it's an English version of the game I have?

Anyone? Anyone?

Yes no lag or issues. Three of my LS migrated over and created new accounts there before they put the "No New Accounts" ban on JP servers. Whenever they can't log in to our Diabolos server, they just hop on their other char and play on Fenrir and they arent experiencing the things we are experiencing here. I would rather not waste my time...I put too much time into my character and if Im gonna play, I want the effort going towards my main char not a sub so I just go do other real world things until I can get back in. Hope that answers your question though.

I can't speak from personal experience, but I've been hearing that the JP servers have recently begun filling up to the point where they're starting to experience the same issues that most of the NA/EU servers have been having. Just hearsay at this point unless someone else can verify, as I haven't been home for quite some time and haven't been able to check the world lists.


But anyway, I imagine that for the most part it'd be largely the same. Probably less English in the Shout channels, though.

Kind of. So the JP worlds are all in English, it's just more Japanese player base?

Also, I know it says you cannot transfer over, but with the issues as bad as they are, has there been anything about being allowed to transfer over to other worlds, regardless if on JP or NA/EU?

The game's language is entirely dependant on your client not server. There is literally no difference between NA and JP servers at all, only physical location, thus a little 'o bit of ping.
Personally haven't got any lag at all in the JP servers

Here's the difference:

There are plenty of English speaking players, especially now. For whatever reason tho, these players are wiser in their use of /sh

I have played on a JP server and it is exactly like the NA servers except less crowded because of the time difference. And quieter, regardless. Even in the beta when I played on a JP server and there were loads of players everywhere, there was not as much chatter in /shout as I was used to seeing on a NA server. Was like that in 1.0 too though when we were all on JP servers.

Aside from that, and the possible language issue with your fellow players, the other thing to consider is your ping. That depends on where you live though. As an example, I live on the west coast of the US and I ran a ping test which showed only a ~20 ms difference between the NA and JP servers. But if you are on the east coast near the servers it may be a bigger deal.

As for transfers, the example given on the page for the world transfer service (coming mid-Sept) used a JP/NA transfer as an example, so I imagine they will allow transfers between the regions.

So if I just want to play now on a JP world, I should just do that and wait for Sept. to come along and do a transfer?

My legacy has always been on a JP server. It's about 50/50 english/japanese speaking. Runs great, no queue.

Minor lag issues. Almost unnoticable. Mostly when you get quests. Some combat lag, not that bad. Just when it's dead, there will be a hesitation before the bar drops to 0. Seriously nothing that would make me stop playing the game.

It's a good option if you just want to play.

I did not notice any lag that wasn't present on the NA servers as well. Also, It seems really strange to me that the issues with the overpopulated servers only get looked at once the JP servers begin to have issues............hmmm

Have no major issues with Fenrir (JP) either. Seems only a slight bit of world latency, but that's it.

I started playing on JP TITAN world because it sounds cool, lol, but I just wanted to play already and since I hear they're going to be doing a world transfer in Sept. that made me more inclined to go ahead and playing on a JP world.
