I've done LL and Gridania. Basically just walls of text and a call to arms. Gonna do Ul'Dah now to see if a chain pops, though I doubt it.
Anyone else done any?
no thoughts on the quests?
I did the Ul'duh one, and I drank the rare/ex item you get as a reward... restored MP/HP.
you drank water, MAN THATS INSANE!!!!!!
so... no CS for quests yet?
I'm enjoying the new quests. Very different from the previous ones:
Some allow you to party with 2 more players.
Some have you travel to the villages, and not only the city-states
Some are instanced
You really start to feel the pressure of the empire and some prophecies are being told. Things are becoming much more interesting. I'm loving them.
I'm done with every quest in Uldah now and they are still pretty boring and easy.
I have no idea what SirEdeon is talking about. Quests still feel disjointed from the world and pointless to your character growth.
do you guys actually read the quests text?
it suppose to be local lore not game story lore. Just something to get to know these places a bit more from local stories. They were also not for leveling... Sir took time to read a quest and one talked about a lalafell commiting murder....
The ones I've gotten so far haven't been spectacular, but they're giving me something else to do. It's fine.
No, theres quite a bit of game lore. There's mention of the Garlean empire, Sixth Umbral Era, the original Grand Companies. Of course theres a lot of local lore as well, there were even a few that made me laugh out loud. And ya, I read all of it.
I quite enjoyed the new quests. My only problem as they are right now is that they could atleast give us the illusion of variety. It's always 8 mobs, 8 items, or 5 NPCs, and those numbers never ever change. Switch it up a bit SE!
I'm really liking the news quests. I'm finding myself running all over the city looking for the quest marker to pop up on my mini map. I'm finding quite a few quests to do, this is really great!
Without taking the lore in consideration, is there a point in doing those quests?
Do they give any reward worth of the time spent?
Content Filler and sense of accomplishment?! I'm a completionist so I do everything in games :P But I'll agree to both points made so far, quests are of higher quality than the last batch by a fair margin and while it is a wall of text the writing is superb :D Contains both local AND world lore, it's a great break from leves and the like so been really enjoying it so far! There's no cutscenes but you get into mini instances like main quests in this new batch, seen a goblin questgiver (Fun stuff if u figure out what he's talking about, made me laugh^^ so cute too *^.^*), and the few fights I did were alot more fun than the 8x kill quests :)
Mine's still updating... T_T
I can't wait to try the new quests!! So excited :D
I can't wait to get in on these!
Ok. Now I've finished an instanced one, and I have to say, it was fun. :)
I'm enjoying the quests in general, they give a story to the world, its pretty cool - I hope they have some sort of fame system ala FFXI that has some benefits tagged with it.
I just did one quest where I had to fight two ama'ljah beastmen. It was okay. It would be nice if quests had some voice overs, but I suppose that's asking for a lot. But even justa little voice emote for NPCs when they give you a quest or ask for your help, and the beastmen too should probably say something instead of just grunting when they die. I realise as Im saying this that the thread isn't a suggestion thread, but I can't help myself.
And can I just ask: why does that annoying blue box have to pop up and obscure my screen every single second of my playtime only to inform me that I completed a quest or that one of guildleve mobs is fleeing? It's so annoying. I wouldn't mind it if it didn't occlude so much of the screen at any given time, being so centered right in the middle as it is.
Reminds me too much of guildleves.
If leveling is your single, soul purpose for playing, then yes, I wouldn't imagine the side quests will interest you much. But if you like doing quests just for the sake of doing quests (like me :D ), then you will probably enjoy them very much.
They really add to the lore as well. I like that too.
Sidequests were good before I think and better since you now gain sp/xp. No cutscenes for them and I'm 100% fine with that because they are sidequests. There's enough story to entertain and it gives me a sense of immersion from their dialect and personality.
They're especially good I think if you have something you'd like to level that you haven't yet. It would feel like a waste to do these R10 R15 sidequests with a R30+ job.
let's see:
I've done a quest that gave me beer, or a stein of some kind of drink, and where all the ppl I talked to talked about the Maelstrom (prereq. for grand company maybe?)
I've also done a quest for a gobbie (not even the echo could translate her accent)
and I killed an imperial death squad or two, and saved this midget from the Garlonde Ironworks. Again seems to involve the Maelstrom.
new quests are not bad.
I have done some of the new quest and like where story is going with them.
