How To Defeat Chimera for A Relic Reborn Quest (Relic Weapon)

What you can have: 2 Whms, 2 PLD, 1 BRD, Rest DD.


What you SHOULD have: 1 PLD, 2 WHMS, 5 BRDS.


What you need to do: Start the fight off with the PLD attacking first, and the rest of you after. Once you get his HP to about 80%, hese gonna start casting voices (Dragon and Rams voice). Those are the only 2 things you need to worry about, everything else can be dodged or tanked. When he starts casting a voice, someone, prefer a BRD, needs to use blunt arrow and silence the move. You need to keep a close eye and really watch for it, as to not miss it. It's perfered to set a order of who is using blunt arrow first, that way the other BRDS know who's turn it is. If you have a PLD, PLD has a skill that silences also, so this way can work to if say you go first and then the PLD watches for it next. I prefer BRDS so that PLD can focus on tanking. Also when possible, PLD needs to use his stun attack when Voice of the Keeper starts to happen around 40%. It won't always work though.




How I found out how to kill it: By starting from 8:00am this morning to just now beating it..... 10000 Deaths.

perhaps but no alt swapping out being excluded altogether since we can all be those things no matter what class we do the fight for unless they restrict it to where you have to be the class that needs the relic

And so does SCH (Selene).

And DRG have a stun.

And SMN can have a stun (Ifrit).

And WAR can have a stun.

OP is just locking jobs. Mayhap with other DDs the fight will go much faster.

BRDs probably work best since they can attack from the distance, no AoE to have to run from ect.

I just hate it when people think you have to class stack to make it easy. Now people will get it in their heads that's the only way to do it and people who don't have a tank, healer, or bard are SOL. I have all of those, but that's beside the point. I hate to say it, but people just need to play better :/

What this guy said. All classes have a stun/silence that can be used effectively.

Just play better.

Relying on class stacking legitimately makes you a bad player, bro.

We kept dying from the voice move until we found this ^(props for find this out)
Our setup : PLD MNK DRG WHM WHM BRD BRD BLM
Two bards rotating blunt arrow was more than enough
It was very easy until the keeper of the ram attack where it does start getting harder
Around 20% both white mages died, and I used a level3 limit break to bring everyone back
Barely was able to snag the win.
Went roughly 1/13 with a shout group and three friends helping. Just silence the voices. Dodge, and kill. Pretty simple really.

So can SMN so can BLM OP just wanted easy mode, just like everyone who posts these "guides".

Once people gear up more this encounter won't be that difficult. I find it funny some people feel entitled to the best weapon in the game as soon as they hit 50.

Exactly. Yoshi-p clearly stated himself that you're supposed to get one set of gear to then tackle the next things to obtain better gear.
At this point, I'm sure the point is to at least get a Darklight set before tackling those things.

Fresh new player, not played 1.0, Managed to 1 shot this chimera with a group hastily put together in 10minutes from our free company, For people looking to do this, and reading threads like this don't worry, if you have common sense and good playing skills and teamwork it is not very hard fight at all, it was harder getting the crafting item from wanderer keep coffin due to random giving to other player than this, good luck all :)

It doesn't HAVE to be all bards, I just find it easier with bards. Half of you wouldn't even of beat it if I didn't tell you how, stop complaining and be greatful. Don't expect me to do this again that's for sure...

This is the kind of ignorance that took the fun out of 1.0 end game for a lot of people.

I give advice and I'm being ignorant, sounds about right. What's funny is people complain yet they still use the advice anyway. It's like, "I hate your way but we pretty much used your same silence basics and ended up finally beating it". Lawl

It's not the advice you gave - that probably will help a lot of people. It's the attitude you've given towards people who have considered your presentation to be a be-all-end-all tactic rather than just your winning experience. If you would use a little more class, and not try to defend yourself so hurriedly against the criticisms, people might give you a bit more respect.

Just cleared this with the helpful advice from the OP. Our setup was PLD PLD SMN BLM BRD BRD WHM WHM.

If I could make any suggestion, just let a PLD handle all the voices. Spirit's Within > Shield Bash > Spirit's Within > Shield Bash. It will never gain immunity to stun if you space them like that. The Lion's Keeper can be avoided simply by running, and two WHM were more than enough to keep everyone alive from the minor damages. Our tanks just ate the breaths.

I did this fight on my MNK to help out someone we had x2 pld x2 whm x2 mnk and I guess the other 2 ppl were blm or brd idk. all you have to do is stun every voice move he does have one pld tank it and the other focus on stuns with shield bash I guess they get? I stood next to his back right leg just out of range of the breath attack and the back attack. when he does the ball of lightning and it targets the pld or yourself run. other than that if you are a caster make sure you don't get hit from the ice attack thing I forgot what its called. It took a few tries but we figured out that having only the pld stun was better than everyone so there was no DR on stun near his death cause it seems like he resist it over time and when he is below 10% and miss that stun your screwed. the only times I ever got hit was when stun missed. Sucks I will have to do it again but was easy.
