Company page: What your guesses?

Well, i like guessing stuff and that page was nice enough to psych me up again!

So, what your thoughts about it?

Merlwyb: Roegadyn female (this is obvious). But what is she wearing? Would it be MRD AF? Because its a coatee model and I'd be going crazy if its MRD AF ^^ The why i wonder is because the other 2 chiefs do have class-related armors.

Kan-E-Senna: She obviously is a CON assuming the coat style...but it would fit perfectly the AF role for CON.

Raubahn: He's actually the one who called my attention regarding AF. For those who played FFTA series, his armor obviously points to GLA AF. What would fit a GLA better than a chain vest and an armguard?

What you guys think about it?

If that is a Roegadyn female.... please add more to the game SE, thank you.

The "Will of Fire" has started to heat again for me...I am ecstatic again to hunt NMs with my LS and do the company thing! Good job SE on slowly re-introducing excitement with alot of promise! I've always been an active player since Sept Launch and its nice to see that FFXIV is starting to blossom slowly. Good timing too..its spring --- heading to summer..

I dunno... she looked kinda Elezen to me...

But if she is a Roegadyn female, that would be neat. I've always imagine that the Roegadyn female character designs and models would be a contrast to the male designs/models. Rather than being gruff, I think it would be neat if they were one of the most beautiful races in the game.

I hope you're right about them sporting AF though.

I'll second that. It looks like a pretty sweet design for Roegadyn females. While on the topic of races, remember how some of the CON guild leaders are that child-like race with horns? Perhaps the Gridania company leader is the female of that race.

It looks like there will be quite a bit of new content via these companies that may start at rank 30. I hope I'm permitted to do them all, or at least choose which company I get to quest for.

I think you're on to something there. The first thing I thought of after reading the company details (well, okay not the first thing) was that while our nation quests begin at independent points and you can only experience one of them (until they converge) the Grand Companies will be more akin to the FFXI style nation quests where you could do all of them.

... at least thats what I'm hoping for. So, REDace0, I'm with you on that one!

I do hope your right and you can experience more than just one cities grand company. I do recall SE saying a while back though that the linkshells would be more casual and the companies would be more of something you would stay in a long time. This could of been before they changed direction though so who knows.. I am mainly concerned about the group part of companies. Since Grid is practically a "dead" city on my server I wonder how they will balance out the grand companies. Will these be locked to your home state or as an adventurer can you choose? If its not locked to a home city i can see a lot of people just going to the Uldah grand company just because that is where everyone is nowdays on my server.

I suspect that any class-specific special gear that can be acquired through participation with the Company quests will likely be limited to the guilds that are present in that city. That would be the inducement to participate at each city.

That said, participation with each city-state's Company would be necessary to improve various classes through this gear, so after that it would just be limited by time, and would provide (nicely, imho) a way for classes to specialize from each other just a bit.

I agree this would be a great idea to have certain gear be based on the guilds in that city. Hopefully we will be able to join more than one company though or you would be stuck with a couple sets of gear based on your company you choose...

One thing that caught my eye is the other colorful banners being flown in the artwork. Could that indicate that we players could create our own smaller companies? Something that doesn't qualify as "grand", but serves the same purpose?

Hmm as for the race of Merlwyb- I thought she was elezan but after taking a closer look she doesn't have the ears! Roegadyn female actually makes more sense. Also as to her class I thought (and I am surprised no one else has brought this up) LL actually has a unusable class using guns. Musketeers or something. I think she will be that class, it would be a great way to further introduce it.

With all the talk from the NPC's about war coming to Gridania and it's surrounding areas, that may bring more players to the area when that sort of content is released. Just my guess though. I'm from Gridania also and hate seeing it dead, so it is exciting to hear what the NPC's are saying about the increasing frequency of Garlean airship sightings and whatnot.

Indeed. Companies might be giving Gridania a new life...because obviously its the first one in line for a "Garlebash". Being the closest one, its even possible that the storyline start moving that way just like it did in Ul'dah until now.

Too bad Limsa is like UK during WWI...being an island they might be losing all the continent fun. But a point that i loved on these new quests..."The Astalicia needs new engines!" This might means that the Maelstron might actually be composed of airships instead of ships, which turn MRDs into Sky Pirates (Which IS an existing class in some other FFs - Just another point regarding Ivalice Alliance content...now lets cross fingers and hope @_@)

They updated the company page with more lore btw.

Interesting idea, that would be awesome.

I just read the new lore on the companies and thought they would add that Merlwyb was in fact a female Roegadyn, but nothing. I still believe it though, and she is a Musketeer!

Limsa's chick is a musketeer, Grids chick is a Conj, and Ulds dude is a gladiator.
OR
Limsa's chick is a fisher, Grids chick is a botanist, and Ulds dude is a miner.

When I saw that new page on companies, I instantly thought, "OMG!!! CHOCOBOS!!!!" How is Ishgard going to play into this? Will they have a Grand Company aswell as the other 3 city states?

isn't Ishgard, the garleans? which is the enemy of the grand companies

The empire is in a land we cant travel to currently, but they can reach us, because of airships. (I think anyways)

Oh... Did you all notice the description for the grid chick says implies has tiny boobs?

Maybe you are thinking of Ala Mhigo? I know that they were taken by the Empire. From what I understand Ishgard is not under the rule of Garleans, but they do have a nasty dragon problem. I could be wrong though.

lol Ishgard is not the garleans. Ala Mhigo was taken by the Garlean Empire, yes. Ishgard is it's own city-state that is lead by an Arch Bishop. Currently the gates are closed by his word. /shrug

sorry my bad lol x.x was confused about that for a bit, kept getting different stories from people and apparently am not far enough in the story to know anything about Ishgard itself XD

Ala Mihgo was razed not taken.

They all use relic/mythic weapons from FFXI. Wonder if this game will get a completely new set of ultimate weapons + weapon skills later on.

Well, what about the new page update? After reading it i got the feeling it will use a very similar system of the one used at WotG regarding allegiance, rankings and combat/suply missions, which is very good! ^^

If we can have similar content from WotG and ToAU here i'd be delighted with the content already! ^^

the only problem i see is the thing about quests, almost everyone I think will choose uldah as thats where everyone always is which is upsetting.

Perhaps the gear mentioned will be different enough in each city to coax people into joining one of the other companies.

Well, now i believe the mission merge in Ul'dah is over. I believe that now we will really start local missions at each nation and that it might only merge again when we have access ro Ishgard (merging there).
