Future improvements to the New Lodestone?

Greetings.

I like the new Lodestone dark design, my eyes are thankful for that, but it would be nice to have more features from the previous Lodestone to improve the community. I've a few suggestions:

1. Please add back the History tab. In 1.0 it was nice to have track of all the completed quests or special achievements (like the purple ones related to the Seventh Umbral Era or defeating primals in short order), and it's too bad that in the new Lodestone your completed quests are not listed.

2. It would be nice, at the same time, to list the completion of all the FATEs. That would be an incentive to do them all, rather than do as many as possible for the normal in-game achievement.

3. When logging in, there's a Red Exclamation Mark on the topright, near the avatar. That's a sign something new happened, the problem is it doesn't say what's new. Please add back the feature of the old Lodestone that gives proper notifications when a new activity takes place.

4. Add proper text formatting (bold, colors, hyperlinks, etc.).

5. Add a Like button, as not everyone uses Facebook (I think this is already planned).

6. Rise the disk usage space, please... Other japanese players have reached already the max image count from the old Lodestone. Having at least a 5000 characters limit, rather than 3000, would also be nice.

7. Add filters to the “Wall” in the Personal Page the “Wall” like in the old Lodestone (filtered by language or entries displayed).


I think the New Lodestone has much potential, but right now it's incomplete. Please consider adding these features to support more the community.

The thing I'm missing most is providing an RSS feed from the news page (the old Lodestone had this). My FC site has suddenly gone quiet because I can no longer feed in news! Please give us this!

The development team is working on a couple of additions and improvements for the Lodestone, and I wanted to pass along some of the things they are looking to do.

• Currently developing a filter feature to be added to your wall.
• Addition of a mouse-over feature for your free company’s chest.
• Looking into various measures for uploading images, such as linking to external sites, to address the image space concerns.
• Addition of direct links for URLs placed in topics and news announcements.
• Planning to provide tools that will allow you to reference the planned Lodestone data base from external sites.

About other features besides the already good ones you mentioned (I'll particularly look forward to the other ways to upload photos), what I'd also like to see return is the History features of the old Lodestone, for completed quests and now would be nice for completed FATEs as well. Those colored “achievements” were a nice addition to the normal in-game Achievements!

I'd really like to see an RSS feed for the Topics and news posts. If there is one already, please make the feed URL easier to find!

I'd like to see a recipe listing.

Or is that planned with the Lodestone database?

An RSS feed would be nice too.

I am glad you mention to suggestion more feedback if needed. From what I remember I was on beta lodestone at first time, Every time I see red exclaim mark beside my avatar meant something new, I click it on, and it goes to front page and show nothing what it's new? I recommend you to add what it new on the forum, follow, etc. I would appreciate to have message to other FC, or LS or Friend in site if we not in game, it would be helpful to keep in communicate from mobile phone or computer to in game who is online or online on the lodestone site. Yes Please implement for Feature similar as ejins, so the Leader or sub-leader can create their FC, LS for members to join and have events announce within Lodestone.

That's all I have in my mind.

Please upgrade the forums to have true forum functionality. ie able to Edit your posts (not JUST the OP), able to use html codes such as [youtube] or other common html codes.

Also adding privileges to members based on their FC rank would be amazing and very convenient. such as Master / Officers can be "mods" in their own FC forum domain.

Another amazing feature would be a calendar type where higher ranked(not class lvl) members can create events such as "raid on tuesday @ x:xx" and can notify members by in-game mail or a notification pop-up when they open lodestone. Kind of like when there is new activity on your feed you see a little red "!".

And as the OP mentioned, PLEASE remove or drastically increase the character restriction limit. 3000 Just doesn't cut it when you're trying to come up with strategies, or just general helpful information. I fully understand this is done to preserve the stability of the servers, however please look into upgrading this either through new blade servers or something. SE's going to be rolling in money from all the subs you're getting because the game is amazing :P

Also, give my thanks to your lodestone team.. I love the new UI so far better than the older version aside from the lack of the above features.

Please, for the love of the Twelve, provide an RSS feed for the news topics! The old Lodestone had this. I don't understand why getting game news out in an easy to publish manner is not a priority.

Can't wait for my updates list to not be an endless wall of "______ has logged in."

It would be awesome if there was a way to preview each of a character's class/job sets, instead of only the one they logged out with. Maybe take a snapshot from the saved in-game gear sets (perhaps only the one with the highest level for that class, as I may not be the only one with a couple of afk looks that use ACN as the base class).

Any chance of re-instating the Like button that is internal to the Lodestone?
I will not use any of the non-FFXIV social media systems for this. And if you check many of the Japanese blogs that used to get lots of Likes, it's now completely dead.

And hopefully the image upload change will not require people to use other non-FFXIV sharing sites.
I was at 11% usage on the old Lodestone and with the new Lodestone I'm at 100% right from the start. Screenshots were a big part of what I liked to share on my blog... so basically it's completely unusable for me now. ><;

So I realise my FFXIV RSS feeds have dried up and figure it's because of the new lodestone, I go to update my link... wait... what's that? no RSS feeds? This makes no sense!

Please bring back RSS feeds!

Additionally, I can't find the Official Blog anymore, I used to have an RSS for that too. Has it moved? anyone know where to? (Admittedly, I haven't given the new Lodestone much of a rummage yet).

Strike while the iron is hot, right? You need to have news out there flowing while everyone is still abuzz with excitement and people want to read it! Instead, news is drying up and going quiet.

Apologies for the wait, but we are currently preparing the Eorzea Database for release and it will take just a short while longer. Once the schedule for release has been finalized we will be sure to make an announcement!

I asked people with the iPhone and in Libra Eorzea, the promised database on item drops isn't in there either.

So is that part of what you're working on as well? Or is the Libra Eorzea just a slogan that will contain no material and we are still expected to build our own databases and turn to third party database sites?

Note that just the ability to browse is not enough these days. It may be enough in 1970, but not in 2013. :3

I donno what RSS is but I guess people loves it.

I like to point out that I find the FC activity list is too much filled up with achievements and logins of member. I only check it too see if someone has made a blog or responded in one.

• I suggest splitting up blog activities + forum activitis from logins + achievements to different tabs

Two months now and still no acknowledgement that an RSS feed for news topics will be returning to the Lodestone. Can you please let us know if this is on the web team's to-do list?

I check the Lodestone every day just to see if this has been implemented and it's becoming a frustrating issue.

So, imagine my surprise when a post showed up the other day in my Lodestone RSS feed... because it was from the old Lodestone!

How are we three months into launch with a bright and shiny new Lodestone that still doesn't have an essential news feature that even the clunky old Lodestone had?

Please, can we get a status update on an RSS feed for news topics?

Good evening.

In a few hours the old Lodestone will shut down. I was still at 49% of my hard disk space for image upload there. Me and other adventurers won't be able to upload pictures anymore in the new Lodestone.

I still consider the old version better and I hope the new one will get the promised improvements. Many adventurers aren't writing anymore like they used to, because of the several important features missing in the new platform and that were instead available in the old one (besides, of course, the problem of not being able to upload any more images...).
The old Lodestone really had a strong community, particularly in Japan, but now it's not like that anymore.

I hope as time goes by we'll get improvements in the new Lodestone like the one suggested here, or simply make it more similar to the old one, that was very valid. And it still is, in this last hours of life left. :D

A million times yes!

I hate that the wall is useless to me, as it is almost always listing japanese blogs, none of which I am capable of reading. Let me filter by language, like I can in-game with the duty finder! Then this tool would finally be useful to many of us.

+1 to this, I am trying to use the Lodestone for the Free Company I am managing, but right now is very difficult resist the temptation to use external forums, due the lack of even the basic things.

I also noticed you cannot edit your own posts, if they are not the OP.
Tried to workaround the 1000 characters limit, doing two posts in same thread, but 2nd post cannot be edited, making void my try.

Great ideas all, I hope someday at least some of them will be implemented. Being able to edit my own posts after they have been posted would be an important one. I am puzzled though why there has been very little info why two tabs have been greyed out since the beginning of the new Lodestone. Those are the companion and retainer tabs. Considering the wealth of information that is available for both now, I would think they would be very useful.
