How do I get an active service account?

Was in Beta Phase 3 and 4 on PS3 and was told we could use the Phase 4 client to play after release. Problem is, the only options I see to be able to play is to purchase the game for $40.

Does this seem right, if I want to use my Phase 4 character in release?

I can't seem to find any info at all regarding this.

Shouldn't we just be able to activate our already attached service account through the Mog Station, choose our Phase 4 character, and be on our way?

If your phase 4 character is on a service account that either has 1.0/1.23 or a ARR registration then go ahead and use it. If its not had a game registered then no, just pick up the game from amazon or a local reseller.
Sounds to me that no game is registered on your phase 4 account though.

I DO have a character and service account attached to my SE account, but it's only showing the character I made on the JP servers while that 3012 was going on.

Do you think whenever my US character appears on there I should be able to play?

NA/EU characters arent showing on mogstation but are in the client. Try logging in on the client (same as Phase 4 client). It would soon tell you if there was a problem lol.
If all you have registered is the beta game to a service account it will show as 'inactive'. If you do have a game registered it will show and let you change subscription type or register codes.

Ya, for some reason, the client says No valid or active service account. Kinda sad about that. Does that mean I can't actually use my beta character?

I don't understand though. How would we be able to play our beta characters if it's juat going to be 'Inactive' and I have to buy the game anyway and start from the beginning?

I have a feeling I'm missing something really small and stupid here. lol

I also can't seem to just get a direct link to their phone support number either. I really don't understand why this process has to be made so entirely difficult through Square.

Does anyone have the number for phone support?

Theres just no game registered to that acount other than the old beta codes (which are now inactive) To play the character you had in beta you need to add either a 1.0 or ARR game code to that account. Once you've registered a game, the character will be waiting for you :)

But does that mean I need to buy the game even though SE told us we can just use the Phase 4 client to play? It doesn't make sense that they would say that and not make it so we can just purchase a game code without needing to buy the game.

I think using phase 4 client to play just meant you can updated it to the launch client.
Buying a game code is buying the game no? O_O

Maybe this will help you a bit. I checked my status on that mogstation account service link. I currently have two days remaining as the "free trial." I have not input my official game key yet. Displayed is only my character from the Japan server Ultima. I was fully able to log on in my NA server charcter (not displayed in the mogstation) Mythic Rose this morning to play before work. I should be able to play either character for at least one more day if I don't enter an actual game code for subcription purposes.

When it comes to MMO's you dont buy the game client, you buy an account, which includes 30 days game play. if you have not payed a cent to SE yet (for either 1.0 or ARR) you need to buy the game (your account) for $30 to get the activation code, then you can use your client to continue to play.

to clear things up, SE says the phase 4 client can be used for official launch, they did not say you can play the game for free after launch. if you have not bought FFXIV 1.0 or FFXIV:ARR then you need to do so to play.
