In order to prevent server outages due to login and world congestion, we are currently closely monitoring server loads and making adjustments to both character creation and login limits as needed.

As we approach the peak North American play hours, the North American and European servers listed below in will have their login restrictions adjusted with particular scrutiny in order to ensure a pleasant play experience for all players.

As we continue to monitor the situation, we will be allowing players to log in sequentially. This will unfortunately have the effect of causing wait times for logins to these worlds, but this is a necessary step for the sake of server stability, and we ask for your understanding and patience during this time.

Additionally, character creation restrictions are currently in place for the following worlds:

Behemoth
Sargatanas
Diabolos
Gilgamesh
Leviathan
Balmung
Excalibur
Hyperion
Tonberry
Mandragora
Bahamut
Chocobo

In the event of any changes in the situation, follow-up news posts will be posted here as well.

That was a pretty useless post. More of the same copy-pasted crap, and they still haven't explained to us how they're going to solve the problem. How long is this going to go on before players can log in normally? Queues would still be disappointing because they're unwilling to explain to us why they won't improve the server capabilities. What a load of garbage this is.

I just wonder if this will have a solution ... and when?

I'm honestly kind of confused as to why they threw up an arbitrary list of worlds as though they are somehow different from the rest of them. I've been refreshing the list trying to make a character on Diabolos and all of them have been off or on whether they are on that list or not. At one point I refreshed and ALL NA servers were closed.

Square Enix... if you're going to restrict the amount of users per server... and you have users not able to log in because of it... time for more servers. DUH.

Just give me a god forsaken que to join, thats all I want - to wait in line four hours if need be - theres no way im sitting here for hours clicking the same 4 buttons. Do they even understand the problem?

I do NOT understand....I paid for this fucking product and I'm sick of you just saying "just be patient and deal with it" without actually telling us how you're fixing it...not to mention this crap shouldn't have even gotten to this point to begin with. I've tried to be patient but fuck SE I'm sick of this shit and asking for a refund.

The list isn't arbitrary. Those servers are perma-locked now until they flip the switch to allow intermittent access by new players. The other servers may occasionally allow for new character creations. All I gotta say is, don't delete your toon from one of the listed servers, you won't be able to remake it. I hope you don't have any friends who want to join you on any of those servers, either.

Sorry to tell you, but 8:30 pm PST is not peak hours. That is the end of it. Realize that most NA players are 2 or more hours ahead of that time. 2 things need to change at launch. First and foremost, you need to enable idle kicks. If someone is idle for 20 minutes or more, they get dc so others can play. Second, just put in the queue. I'll sit in a line of how ever many, but this "server is full try again after it frees up" is garbage. Drop me in line and log me in when it frees up.

I think we are going to be getting into true "peak time" in a bit, I hope the "sequential" logins will be readily apparent. The 1017 is just downright unhelpful "Please wait until an opening is available and try again".

How am I suppose to know when an opening is available?
How long should we wait to try again?

All the error is encouraging is everyone spamming the login screen because we have no clue has to when "an opening" is going to be available. There has to be a better solution than this random login roulette.

to fix this instead of saying "sorry" that kinda holds no meaning after awhile. something I was tought at a young age...

Add 5 NA Legacy Servers

Add 3 NA Non Legacy Servers

Add more EU servers (idk I dont play on them)

ADD A FLIPPING AFK BOOTER after 15 Minutes of being afk. For the love of the game .... good lord

Enable a 1 time free transfer to those new created servers.

Enable server transfers like right now lol, this should clear up the log in problem

DONT wait for people to drop you guys, that it a terrible idea for a company looking for redemption, things arent gonna auto fix themselves and after spending so much time and money you kinda need to make this one to count, you have something here go with it

What the hell does that mean? Seriously. What does it mean? Are they letting less people in? I haven't been able to log in for two days now, how can they possibly have more 'scrutiny'.

Nice of them to post a list. But I do wish they'd let you create characters on a world if you already have a character there. You can only log on with one at a time anyway, and it would help the poor folks that managed to get onto their desired server and then realized they wanted their character to be taller or that they hated their voice with the rest of the emotes.

What the hell does this mean? We already know this. Wait times already exist, this much is painfully obvious.

Do they mean the wait times that already exist but aren't explicitly told to us because currently we only get a generic 1017 error instead of an actual queue?

So is "this will cause wait times" essentially a strange Japanese translation for "will now cause users to be put into a queue so they can actually SEE what the wait time is"?

Seriously, is this a bad translation problem? How can an announcement be so purposely daft? Who is writing these things?

Whats really sad about this whole situation is this:

SE first attempt at this game was a bomb, a complete and utter catastrophe. It was so bad they released a press release TO THE WORLD apologizing for how bad it was. Then, after a period of time, they took it offline with grandiose claims that they would redo the whole thing, get a new team in, get this shit in ship shape order.

AND THEY DID!!! Yall can say whatever you want about the servers and login restrictions and the duty finder server crap. But the game, the actual game, not the hardware that supports it... IS AWESOME! It's beautiful, its well thought out, its balanced, its involved! And for a follow-up to the previous version, i couldn't be more satisfied. And for a company that was "looking for redemption" as an earlier poster put it, if nothing else mattered, they would have earned that and more.

And now for the sad part. They were so focused on improving the game itself, that they never thought to improve everything else. That right there is called tunnel vision and is the equivalent planning the perfect vacation: You picked the location, decided what you were gonna wear and where you're gonna eat and get so wrapped up in all the details that you failed to notice the world has succumbed to zombie apocalypse and you'r zombie dog is nipping at your heels.

And in the end, the sad truth is that by the time they correct all these hardware issues and implement the ideas that would help this situation a bunch, enough people will have abandoned it as another scratch of a game... that it will probably be shut down again for good in a year or two and what could have been an amazing game, will never be more then a wiki post...

What they again fail to mention is character creation has been suspended on a lot of NA worlds and HAS BEEN SINCE p4. Meaning if you have friends you want to play with, you're screwed. Not to mention when you FINALLY have a character somewhere you must have horse shoes up your rear to log on.

I can't even COMMENT on the game because I refuse to play if I cannot play with friends. Which means I've logged maybe a 2 hours tops since p4 beta.

I feel you Acrimonia. this is my highest level at the moment. I wanna play, but I feel no motivation knowing that I won't be playing with my friends. :(
