Where's the common sense in isolating Limsa till you're level 21

Why in V2 are those playing in Limsa isolated till they're level 21? What happened to the "I want to play with friends" bit, seeing as how unlike in V1 you don't get to choose your starting city it seems to be pre-selected based on your starting class: I say 'seems to be' because due to all EU servers being currently locked to new characters I can't actually complete the creation process.

So if you choose one class based in Limsa and all your friends choose classes in the other two cities you're SOL till you get to 21.

I got my airship pass at level 15. How'd you manage to hit 21 without moving past Limsa?

I ask because story missions pretty much take you to the other cities around level 15.

emm you can ride the airship around lvl 10... after the lvl 10 main story you get an airship pass

beats me, I find it a waste everytime I have to pay 200 g for transportation ;(

yep Lvl 15 to travel from limsa to warever you like :)

Pretty sure there's a boat too which is available at any level. The only reason people didn't use it in beta was because SE set the price ridiculously high. It's been confirmed to be lower now though so there is always that option, although I'm not sure what price it is now.

I found the ferry closed (on the Thanalan side) with a 'out of use' NPC message like backin V1 beta. I Googled it ('cos God knows SE's games don't tell you much) and found someone saying you needed to complete a level 21 quest to gain access, didn't get as far as looking for the airship unlock details. That's why I believed what I posted.

Oh that's a bit odd that they've put a level restriction on it, but yea you can still get airship access at level 10 ish. Or you could simply choose a class that starts in the city you want and unlock other classes after level 10? It's annoying that you can't choose your starting city but there are ways around it and in my experience level 1-10 doesn't take long at all even if you only do story quests.

Since you have a level 50 class I assume you are legacy/1.0 like me, so I'd recommend doing the story missions. You obtain the airship pass during the course of the quests. (The quests with the blue fire icon). It's the only way to get the pass. SE is essentially making everyone complete the story from the beginning regardless of level.

Try that and see if you make any progress. Doesn't take very long if you do only the story quests. A few hours tops. And that's going slow.

Before you google anything for this game (since there's still ton's of 1.0 info out there that simply isn't true anymore) you really should use the search features in the forum to try and find answers. Alternatively you could ask random people in game, I've seen lots of new players asking questions and plenty of people being helpful and providing answers.
