I honestly think the timing is perfect, Its not meant to be fast. If im making something like 10 iron plates i know i have a min or two to go grab a drink or drop a deuce. Its meant to circumvent the menu steps on basic ingredients. Maybe add an option to increase the timer but dont force everyone to speed up. Besides this is an mmo and mmo= time sinks.
It has that same delay between synth's that gathering has between gathering attempts. SE screwed up somewhere on both of them.
And.... It is meant to be fast, thats the whole reason they put it in there - to knock out some NQ mats fast.
Time isn't bad I just wish it didn't give half the xp or crafting it normally. I understand it needs to be lower so people actually craft and not just quick synth and go watch tv but make it 75% or something. I don't want to sit around making 500 Iron Ingots just to get decent xp in the process
The crafting classes are just that, classes, just like the combat classes. There is no button to auto-kill 100 easy mobs for xp while you go make a sandwich.
They were nice enough to give you a quicker option for making some of the lower level items you need in mass quantities, and nice enough to give you some xp for it. If you want more xp, do it the slower way and actually play your class instead of afk your class.
Actually it's bugged.. it's giving you less experience per item then doing it normally, and the description doesn't say it's supposed to do that......
well then they should change the in game guide then, shouldn't they?
Largely irrelevant to me . I tried crafting and it has to be the most boring thing in this game (or any other).
Guess you need patience.

They really should have never added quick synthesis, and just have gone with my suggestion from way back when....
Stay in synthesis modes until you run out of materials, or press quit. That is all. Once you finish a synth, if you have materials to make more it just restarts the synthesis process, full CP, full durability, 0 progress and quality matching what materials were used and items re-used.
I should point out that they already have it so that your materials don't really get used until you perform an action while in synthesis mode. If you select synthesize, but press quit before doing anything, you don't lose any materials.
If you make quick synth quicker you get a problem that xp wise it is better to go for quick synth then doing normal.
If you make for example a basic ingredient where you need like a 100 and you still get like 200xp for the quick synth you can't make it quicker as you will then gain more xp per minute then compared to doing to whole synth which net you for example 1000 xp.
Well TBH exp for crafting professions is same for all whatever nerfs or buffs they make to it. It does not affect the levels of your combat classes, unlike GW2 where people were levelling alts to cap purely on crafting; so hardly a game breaker.
Yeah, I do think crafting speed needs worked on. I wouldn't mind the quick syth with all it's current penalties if it didn't take so long, FOR NO REASON. If you're using quick syth then you're wanting to make a bunch of components ASAP so you can actually get to work on making whatever it is you're actually wanting to work on. The xp you gain is negliable and isn't even a consideration since for the same amount of time, you could've gotten 10-20x that amount of xp with 1 or 2 syths that you actually did some work on.
Seriously...just do it like GW2...every syth takes half the time of the previous one, until around 6+ it's happening almost instantly. All the quests encourage you to make HQ gear, which requires you to actually do it manually (and preferably using HQ mats starting from the lowest tier of the crafting process). Or just limit it to only massed produced stuff like thread, lumber, cloth, consumables, etc, not actual items.
It is fine the way it is. It also puts a value on your time. If you can hit a couple buttons and have 100 sets of subcomponents to make various pieces of gear in less than a minute, the market would only flood worse than it already is. Take advantage of the new "guaranteed" quick synthesis. Start it off then get a beer, or take a shower or throw out the garbage, etc.
