Well true story :/ Simple add AFK Timer 20 Min (or less) and we have no more Problems.

As long as there's no maintenance, I will be ok. Sucks that it has to be this way, but since SE stubbornly refuses to add an AFK timer and they botched the stress test, I'm making the best of the situation.

I got disconnected twice (you got me again, error 90000...) yesterday while doing random stuff. I don't think leaving your char logged in is a guarantee of anything xD

Well i cant blame you , pretty sure everyone who even has the slightest interest in playing this game would act the same way.

I honestly considered doing this but I don't mind getting rested XP and I really really doubt we'll go all day without some maintenance. SE will see significantly less numbers for today since it's a work/school day, it's the best possible time for them to implement any new fixes they've come up with.

I left my character standing in the inn room. I'm not sure that staying logged out gives you more rested experience.

I hope they do some maintenance and replace the tired hamsters that are powering their cardboard box PCs, but professional experience tells me this is not caused solely by hardware limitations.

I know I'm part of the problem....but the game is so fun

That reminds me...

I wrote and posted a greasemonkey script on the beta forums to ignorate users (completely remove all threads and posts from them from the HTML elements instead of hiding them, and all posts quoting them), and I got banned for it.

Just trying to make the forums a better place, SE. =(

I considered it, but then I realized I was just wasting a slot for someone else who actually wanted to play while I wasn't.

I mean, it's behavior like that that keeps people out in the first place and I don't really want to be that guy that gives out the same error I've dealt with all Sunday. Those peoples is jerkz.

Myself and other LS mates did the same im standing outside Haltali Eddard Stark on Diabolos give me a wave if you pass by

I hope they come up with a game plan like..... today.

My character has been logged in for over 24 hours now. When I got home last night, I was able to get right to my game, run dungeons with the LS, do my instanced class quests, and get two crafting classes to 20.

Provisioning new servers may take 1-2 days tops, but setting up all the actual FFXIV servers in them and integrating them with the rest of the infrastructure might not be that fast. One week to set up a bunch of new servers does not seem that unreasonable to me.

While the not being able to login bit is irritating, I am somewhat pleased that the game has such a high level of interest.. as others have said it is a great game when you can manage to login ^^;

They've admitted to reaching facility maximum, and that they're looking to expand it by early next week. It's a classic miscalculation of expected users and mismanagement of failover procedures, probably caused by hiring incompetent sysadmins and typical difficulty communicating across time zones.

Wonderful news about the data center, but that is for the JP data center no the NA one.

I'd imagine either a) typo or b) applies to both datacenters.

Or c) their NA datacenter is still hosed because the company that they're renting from or the team they've hired to manage it is incompetent.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to run across incompetent system administrators, and how easy it is for incompetent system administrators to find work. In fact, it's happening daily where I work, and it's an international titan with over 120,000 employees and profits comparable to a small country.

True it is a big miscalculation. I think they were trying to be conservative on their estimates cuz of what happened during 1.0. During 1.0 there was also huge influx during release but just after a month or so the playerbase was reduced to less than 50% and they suddenly had a lot of under-populated servers which still costs money to maintain etc. They had to merge servers and the excess servers were then considered losses. We have to remember that a server also has a fix monthly cost to a company. Hope they can fix this problem soon. Really love this game from watching my friends play lol!! I myself can't seem to enter cuz of server full :)

It really sounds like that. I wonder where the times have been left, when you simply went up and put SOME new servers SOMEWHERE and simply ignore the trouble you are calling for next month simply because it works as it is. :D
However to be honest... todays requirements for security and robustness for random stuff probably just don't give any more room for such simple solutions. Script kiddies are everywhere...

With a little bad luck there problem isn't the datacenter, but the supplier is simply out of stock requiring them to deliver new hardware to Canada. :)

Perhaps! I was actually surprised to get someone from Melrose in my FC and I saw a few in another community thread on here as well. Seems MA is actually being represented.

Confession time:
I play on Hades and don't speak any japanese, mainly because on beta 4 moogle world was locked and hades was my server on FFXI before the merge, still i do all the duty finders just fine just check the languages J E F D also be sure to Level up a tank or healer as second job to avoid long waits on duty finders and use the auto_translate to comunicate as they will notice you don't understand what they speak, and on critical situations they will speak english :p.
there are more people like me so if we come together on duty remember to share LS pearls free comanys are not the only way to be social at the start you migth have many pearls but soon they will populate the most known ones.

I did the right thing and logged out last night so some other poor soul could play.

The attitude of this community frightens me.

I logged out yesterday night after i was done... but then logged right back up at 7 am before heading to work. After having spammed the login for an hr and change yesterday night i'm not about to go through that mess again.

Agreed :/ I tried logging in all last night after work (tried playing League and Borderlands in between logs but it just wasn't the same) and couldn't get in at all

I managed to log in this morning before work to claim my CE items and considered staying logged in but I didn't. I'm more patient than most so I figure if I open a spot for someone who is still on the fence about playing then why in the world would I take that away from them? I know I'll be around for a while :P

I disconnected twice last night and it never took me more than 20 minutes to get back in. Hammering will eventually get you queued. Your mistake was playing other games... I just put the TV on and watched while pressing X on my controller lol
