Remember EA is a privilege not a right..... They didnt have to include EA in pre order at all.
Ohhhh here we go. Players demanding stuff as usual......
The fact is, like Ceol said, SE included early access as part of their pre-order advertisement, i.e. it served as an incentive to persuade people pre-order the game.
Therefore it should be consider part of the product.
If they don't deliver part of the product, they need to consider compensate their customers.
If it is a physical product it can be considered a scam if they don't do anything. I am not sure how exactly it works on electronic products, but I don't think it would differ that much.
And before all else, it's about their business reputation.
You expect compensation?

Compensation for a bonus? ._.
how is it a privilege if we paid for it? You got EA because you pre-ordered/bought the copy.
Beta was a privilege, EA was something we were promised as a part of a deal. "You buy the game before it comes out we let you play a few days before". Except one of the parties involved didn't seem to be able to follow through
Funny that there are always someone that post threads like this.
What sort of compensation do those who feel they deserve it have in mind?
Wow, I didn't realize there were so many business experts and lawyers on these forums!
A mount that was four moggles holding a small platform (one at each end of said platform) that you sat on while they flew you around with their cute faces. Or one of those Moggle Blimps. A Moggle suit to wear. A Moggle doll weapon for Arcanist/Summoners/that other class (who cares?) Lets see, Moggle barding for chocobos... Oh a Moggle Minion that made cute noises when you clicked on it.
Made this:

I would settle for them telling us how to get the Magitek mount.
I'd settle for a Goblin mount >.>
I think peoples whining tears are enough compensation bonus for me. These threads are rather humorous. So many people feeling so entitled, its really amazing what people feel they are entitled to. Just sit back and relax ;)
Don't be this guy.

Some people are acting like they are withholding the servers intentionally. With an initial launch errors should be expected, just man up and wait until things get lined up.
Compensation for the time you lost due to issues that are somewhat standard at launch (server crashes and overflow) no, I do however think a free server transfer to lower population servers so friends can play together since they cant at this time due to the massive ammounts of lockouts would be fine enough.
Last I checked the deal was:
Not:Quote:
If you pre-order FFXIV: A Realm Reborn from a participating retailer and register the pre-order code within the specificied time period, you will be granted access to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn prior to the official launch!
The only thing I expect to see is free server transfers, probably for select servers, but that really has nothing to do with Early Access and more to do with the fact that some servers actually are overpopulated.Quote:
If you pre-order FFXIV: A Realm Reborn from a participating retailer and register the pre-order code within the specificied time period, you will be granted access to play a completely error free version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn prior to the official launch!
free transfer? i'd be happy with ANY transfer. i'm stuck on a server in japan because i played the 1.0 beta. most things run fine enough, but gathering is a pain (every time i hit it has to go to the server, confirm the hit, and i'm not sure how much it has to do but there is about a 1-3 second delay between hit button and get item) and of course avoiding AOE is even harder since the attack seems to hit where i was about a second or two ago.
You got early access. Nowhere did they say you'd get an entire, uninterrupted 142 hours.
What exactly did you earn or pay for and not receive that requires compensation?
If you advertise a bonus, privilege, bribe or anything else you want to call it and don't deliver you have essentially committed false advertisement. That's the black and white of it. SE failed to uphold their end of the bargain because they didn't qualify the terms.
If SE had added something like "Please be aware that server stability may limit the time in which you may participate in Early Access", what would have happened?
Fewer pre-orders for one.
"Hey, order the game and get in early! We won't tell you how early until it's really close to the time, and then we're not gonna mention server stability either because LOL@U, you already paid!" Not a very catchy slogan. And the "you should've known it would be like this, every launch has issues, blah blah" argument is weak. It is what it is, a messed up Early Access.
There is absolutely no way anyone can justify or defend this from a business standpoint. Anyone who says otherwise is just delusional, and I pray you never have any serious control over any company I invest in.
As far as how big a deal it is, it's not that big of a deal to me. I certainly don't think anyone deserves super special mounts or weapons for it.
If anything, SE could send an in-game item, one-time use that grants +50% (or so) exp for 3 days (time runs out whether you're logged in or not) to make up for any 'time/exp loss'. I couldn't care less!
i should be compensated for reading a lot of these posts.
You know what...I don't even mind all the server and downtime errors. I do mind my two friends inability to join my server however...and I find that inexcusable.
Ahh nice to see the draconian posting limitations are doing their job stopping troll threads, stopping stupid threads, and stopping dupe threads.
They don't owe you sh*t. Yes, it is said that if you pre-order, you get into early access. And you guys did get into early access. It was buggy, yes, but it is early access. Had some maintenances that made me wait, that didn't prevent me to get up to Haukke Manor story-wise and get all my THM/BLM quests done. I had my early access. It was not flawless, but I had it.
We are still getting 1017s and my gf is threatening to quit the game.
They appeared to have 'extended' the 'early access' period to August 29, but with the game formally released on the 26th, the extension probably means you get two more days for free.
It's extra frustrating to keep looking at character selection screen and unable to login after a hard day's work, not to mention hours of productivity loss attempting to login.
I think students and no-lifer can shut up on this issue since you guys won't really understanding this is close to a deal-breaking situation for us.
Well my own solution is if my 15 free days run out and I can't get on still due to restrictions then I will just never play it again.
I would like to get a queue when I try to log in instead of a "F--- YOU!" error as compensation for EA.
EA allows you to play 3 extra days earlier without paying. Since SE screw it up that many can't play the full 3 days, SE needs to do something about it.
I believe they've announced yesterday that they will extend the EA period for another 3 days, meaning that you'll still get your 3 extra day of game time.
If you're still pissed after that, it could be two things:
-you have a huge ego: you lost those 3 days to play before others join, and can't no longer show off your levels to the other newbies/friends.
-you think getting in 3 days earlier is going to give you a huge advantage in the end-game: unfortunately there's no cure for this one.
Yes its frustrating. I took Monday off and only manage to play for half a day due to that. Since you're a working adult, you should had seen many MMO to understand that there will be complications at launch.
I look beyond this short term problem, and are more concerned about the long term playability...so far it seems great to me.
I normally defend Americans when I hear stories about mistreatment abroad simply because of their nationality.. But this sense of entitlement and compensation when something goes against them is disgusting. You see it at restaurants and other businesses, where such things as rude waiters, long waits, messed up orders etc end up with a customer demanding compensation, and usually getting it. It's a trait that the world would be far, far better off without.
Seriously, think of someone other than yourself for once and suck it up, enjoy the game when it's fixed and you're able to play. Accept that things don't always work the way you want them to and deal with a problem without receiving something for it.
You're on my server too.. Low population and easy to get on. God help us (if he exists).
Agreed OP. Regardless of the mindless trolls already here. WE PAID for a service and a game part of that service was HEAD START! Which they didn't deliver upon! So I guess when you trolls go out to eat or something and they tell you to buy a combo meal because its the same price but comes with fries. but than you don't get the fries thats okay with you? The fries were part of the combo you bought so whats the difference? There isn't one! Should give us an extra week for free or something!!
wow stereotype much? When we dont get what we ordered yea we speak up. As of today everyone paid for the game so if the item you paid for isent there than yea people will complain..
When you eat out and wait 3 hours for your food do you complain? Im a 1.0 player and I bought 2 extra copys to help support the game and If I cant play for weeks yea thats a problem.. might as well call this simcity 2.0..
