in FFX, X-2 and XIII, The Last Remnant.. our character can talk during the battle. when using skills, magic, attack, etc
add a lot of fun to combat
in XIV our character can't talk anything except groaning ughh, ahhh, haaah and it's boring :(

It seems like a fun and good idea to me.. I can imagine characters yelling the name of the weapon skill used "Red Lotus!!".. pretty cool.. **
Albeit it is something they should had done before releasing the game..
It does sound cool, but there are already people complaining about the voices. I can't imagine the criticism for something like this...
redu rotosu!!!!!
i am not sure if i want my GLA scream every 5 sec. Imagine he does and the other party members too... no thanks.
Actually a few mmo do have Vo in battles. I forget which though.... Mighta been WoW.or Aion... or something again i forget. But I know it is possible. its a random thing when doing skills (not an addon i never had them)
Speech, in at least the cut scenes would a boon.
In combat, well, plenty of other games do it too. So I don't see the problem, especially if there was an option to toggle its use.
As long as you could turn it off/on meh- I'm not too bothered. They would have to have a pretty big repertoire in my opinion or this would get very boring very quickly (and irritating)
Reminds me too much of Infinite Undiscovery.... "Grin Valesti!!" lol.
I doubt it'd happen but I agree, it would be cool to hear random battle cries from our characters. It doesn't need to be as consistent as yelling (Red Lotus Blade!) every single WS, but maybe here and there something like, "And stay down!" or "Argh, take that!".
i think that would be quite hard to do, all the voiceovers of the cutscenes are in english (even in the japanese version which is a point of complaint for some japanese players already)
our character voices on the other hand are provided by japanese voice actors (one of the miqote voices is in fact a reather knowen seiyuu)
that would make it pretty hard to make voiceovers without changing the voices completely for each region, and also ingame it would be problematic, if only because a german/french/japanese player would hear my character with a different voice than chose which might be very bad.
on the other hand if they could lock your voice to your region but that would kinda suck too, imagine 4 gladiators using the same skill and everyone shouts in a different language. (which would make at least me cringe cause i hate the german skill names, thats why i play in enlish)
btw first thing on my mind when i was thinking about the XIII voiceovers lol

LOL, imagine when you play GTA IV and Niko says something funny during his fight/drive
It would be an interesting feature. However, it could also get rather annoying hearing "Cure II!!!" or Cure III!!!" mutliple multiple times per battle, it would be a bit better if it activated more randomly, and had a little speel that went along with it, like the ones from the original Final Fantasy Tactics.
OMG if anyone here have played Aion they know how this can be annoying @_@
IMHO character talking during combat is nice for offline games, but it's a pain for a MMO.
I love this idea :D
Oh lookie another lenneth.. I would have gotten a Lenneth Valkyrie name for my character if everyone didn't reserve it on all servers during beta... <.< So I went with Kainé Gestalt.. inspired by Nier..
When do beta name reservations expire anyways..?
It really dows sound like a great idea! And while we are at it, introduce a talking "motion" when we type in /say (just like WoW and other games), have our characters stand still while talking is... static, dead, cold.
Yup, menu options are always the answer for people who complain, haha.
Exactly!
