From what we have seen during the past 48 hours, even in periods where the servers were operating reasonably smooth, there seems to be no "idle log-out" mechanism in effect.
This may be convenient, since whoever is logged in is not forcibly logged out under normal circumstances, but it definitely does not contribute to the myriad of server congestion issues.
So, perhaps you should enable such an option, logging out characters who have remained idle for a number of minutes, such as 10-15?
While I do think an Idle Log-Out feature is desperately needed, I think it should only be 10-15 minutes for a week or two to allow for servers to balance out in the congestion area. After two weeks it should be increased to 45 mins to an Hour for the idle auto log-out.
Agreed. If they're going to fucking force us to not even have a login queue and wait hours just to be able to play, then they need to boot off the people who log in specifically to idle while they go to work and then come back to play.
And yes, there is ABSOLUTELY no idle auto-disconnect. I know this because I fell asleep in my chair on day 1 of early access, and woke up a few hours later still standing in front of the Aetheryte in Drybone.
There really is no reason for there to not be an auto-disconnect feature. Mind-boggling.
agree I have seen the same char. in the same spot for hours. This is a common sense thing SE. Don't throttle back my log in instead start booting idle players!!
I'd say ten minutes of idle should lead to a kick. That would fix 3102, without kicking someone who stopped to answer the phone.
They had this back in Phase 4 (during the last day I believe) no idea why they haven't brought it back. Thankfully I have other games so I'm not too bent out of shape about this

Stop it guys, how am i supposed to play when i get home from work if i don't stay logged in the entire day?
This feature needs to be implemented. It is MMO 101, especially for release. Most, if not all of the log in issues are probably being caused by squatters.
This Idle Auto Disconnect feature needs to have the ability to detect those who are using auto-run into walls to by pass the auto disconnect feature as well.
Please kick idel players after 15 minutes have walked over a dead player numerous times...looks like a carpet just lying there.
This a BASIC mmo feature.

Yes, definitely. I was surprised while playing the Open Beta that this wasn't a feature. It would really help the overload. I know I've seen people saying they've been lucky in getting on and if they have to leave for work etc. they just keep the game running. That's not fair to the incredibly large number of players who are unable to log in to actually play.
It seems we all agree, Square-Enix needs to implement this ASAP, or enable it (if it's disabled)
