Idk, but all this downtime is making me so soft right now...

I think adding more servers and having the option to transfer a character to them would solve allot of these problems currently but have to wait and see I guess :x
It won't fix anything, just like every single maintenance yesterday. It's absolutely ridiculous. They'll also bring back even MORE strict login restrictions I bet so only a quarter of the actual community will get to play, and that's whoever doesn't error first.
I don't think they are fixing this only during this 2-hour maintenance. More like they are working constantly on the fixing and fine tuning of the game server's code, then bring the servers down to apply the changes
Based on what Yoshida said, I doubt thast would work.
the only real fix I'd see, is splitting the servers from all being in the same place.
Different data centers. Which would cause a similar issue where JP severs and NA/EU servers cant communicate together.
(I could be wrong, but this isnt an issue with hardware but programming from what he said.)

On a more serious note, I really doubt it will fix anything, it's just a reset button..
I think the login restrictions is because no one is willing to go to another server and start over after all the time spent on their current character. Early morning time I had no issue's with duty finder etc because other people either asleep or what not but as soon 9am and past is when it started again we need people to move to different server know will SE do free world transfer along with that besides even more strict login's that up in the air lol just an opinion though :P
They have brought the servers down 4 times now in space of 36 hours, and every time it was for the same reason, and every time they told us they had identified and corrected the issue...
What do I really think they are doing? Just rebooting the servers and hoping that as people get demotivated less people will login and it will look like they actually fixed it!
I find it really amusing to think that the real reason why we're having this log-in issues errors and what not is because there are too many players. If they added more servers we probably won't be seeing these problems at all, but naturally nobody is gonna want to start over when their friend is on another server right?
You know what the worst part is?
I DIDN'T EVEN WANT A DUTY FINDER IN THE FIRST PLACE! DAMN
While fixing errors please add a tackle box for fishing ! Thank you. And raise fishprices a bit cos if i got to live out of fishing like the way its now i will starve to death.
The bigger problem might be they need more physical server racks, they might be bustin balls to get what they currently have working until they can get more server capacity up and running. Basically a band-aid on the problem for now, it's evident they have far more people than they projected and planned for.
The trick is not spend *too* much upgrading to allow capacity for people who might play a month or so then leave. They should probably look into renting out server space for now until they see how much they are going to need when the sheer amount of logins settle down and they see how much they actually need.
Ah finally able to post... I was wondering when the forum was gonna update (these restrictions are just... ugh)
Anyway, the constant maintenances suck but why are people ignoring the fact that the last one DID fix the duty finder server? Ive been playing for the last 6 hours or so and did a ton of instanced quests and they worked just fine
So yeah, theyre not just waving a magic wand at the servers expecting them to fix themselves
When I saw the ingame message for this maintenance I was actually puzzled, since other than the duty finder Ive had no issues whatsoever
Although, if we had proper EU servers, not only would EU players have a superior experience, but the NA/EU population would be split likely solving these problems... But instead they wanted to be cheap and get a canadian server for both, and now it bites them in the ass
well, they could move the EU server to ya know. the EU?
Ireland is great, apparently. so long as you place them outside of northern Ireland (because then its outside of the eu via a technicality of the north part being under English laws) you are part of the EU, and unlike the datacenters of Germany (anyone rememeber the problems nintendo had with the 18rated games because nintendo of europe was based in Germany and so had to follow their laws about 18 and adult rated entertainment?) you can still have blood and gore happening to humanoid characters and whatnot. probably cheaper too.
and if they offered a free migration for those that were willing to start up on new NA/EU servers, instead of waiting months to offer it as a paid service, alot of the problems would be at least, cooled down. fewer angry posts, less trouble and conjestion on launch day too. infact, why not open some more EU servers and designate them specific language (ie , german and french, since i have seen a fair few people asking in those languages for free companies) offer them a free transfer there and make even more people happier.
they're just vand-aiding. hopefully they catch up and patch a fix before launch.
I think they should add more servers and allow legacy and non legacy players on the over populated servers to choose to migrate to the new servers. Also they should look at adding a second instance server, and separating the north american servers into 2 instance groups.
kinda off topic but
<<=====this hairstyle....very popular.
on topic: i think a solution to this would be to remove quest based instances and only reserve instances for dungeons. all those server requests for instances must have burned out the servers.
How much longer? Lol
probably did give the poor servers virtual migrain's all those people bouncing about between class quests.
and it does look like SE totaly underestimated the amount of players. more servers would be called for, and if, after a month or two half the playerbase has gone on to other pastures new, they can allways retrofit them to be instance servers or housing servers/free company houseing servers.
(again, just saying we need more NA/EU servers because you guys do seem to have gotten your numbers backwards. so many more people playing out here in NA/EU that need housing than anywhere else it seems)
*edit*
whoa. those EU servers look like someone snuck into my boss's store and took photos of our basement salvage machines :O
i have at least one of each of those in the back too lol. only ones missing are the flat top ones you can store your monitor on top of.
well servers are back up it seems anndddddd 1017 wooooooooooooooooooooo
Final fantasy: A error reborn.
And now we're playing the error access! Well we're not playing because you know what? Error error error error
I would suspect that they've been trying to rule out the potential problems. 9000 sounds like a nondescript error, and so were the errors when entering instances. These problems are happening consistently on the highest traffic servers, so it has something to do with high traffic. No doubt each maintenance required resetting servers and flushing errors from the system, which takes time. Upon bringing the systems back up, they probably made changes that helped with congestion to rule out simple server overload. Maintenance or no, devs are probably combing thousands of lines of code on both client and server software. Once they rule out congestion and code errors as the *root* cause, they will be able to make a case for hardware problems, at which point they go to their vendors. Worst case, they have to get new hardware or even change vendors.
Actually, they only said they thought they fixed it once... on the second maintenance if I remember correctly. All other maintenance posts have simply stated the time and reason, along with an apology. Don't make things up to justify people's anger.
Just open up temporary servers and allow free transfers to and from them. After a month, close them.
