Full Legacy Servers??

Anyone know if they are locking servers because they are at max capacity or is the queue system just broken. If my friends are unable to create a char on my server im done. I cant re-roll, ive played my main since 2010. What do I do SE. I see your advice is "please consider rolling a server with a lower population". So how do I do that w/ my legacy character??

This same exact situation happened when they merged servers back in 1.0. I talked my brother and a few of his friends into playing but Istory was full. So that was 4 more subscribers lost.

who knows it's lame as hell though... my legacy char is useless

Had I known that Excalibur would become the almighty congested mess that it is now, I would've transferred...

im in the same boat as you man..just said fuck it and made a new char with my friends on a diffrent server hopefully one day he will be reborn ;) <--- haha made a little funny there

Having the same issue, I want to play with my old LS on Hyperion but since phase 4 I'm unable to create a character there. :( I'm leveling an alt just to enjoy the game but it's kinda sad that I can't play with my friends.

In my opinion, they should give us free world transfers for a few days afters launch so everyone can be on the server they want. :)

I had the same issue, close the launcher and try again. It will eventually placed you on a queue to wait.

Yeah there's just something that I'm not understanding. I'm sorry some of you had to re-roll a new char to play with friends, I feel that is just unfair. Especially if you've put a lot of work into your 1.0 toon. I have been through at-least half a dozen mmo launches and have not once run into a company totally locking servers. It is a massive multilayer game, and something like being able to play with all of your friends is extremely important. SE help me out - excuse my ignorance if locking servers is absolutely necessary. I understand that congested servers cause instability, but what happened to the queue system? waiting in line to connect?? I've been in a queue line as long as 1000 players in other games, but I would take that any day over "Nope srry, you cant play with buds, re-roll".

This issue really needs a response. I'm concerned they are not even going to let us legacy players leave legacy servers for a long time anyways... Meanwhile my friends are forced to roll a character on a new server since Hyperion is full and I don't know if they are all going to want to transfer to a legacy just cause I'm stuck on it . :(

This and This. I'm in the same situation. My friends were not able to join my legacy server during phase 4 cuz SE locked it. Now that my friends made a character on a new server I decided to ditch my legacy just to join them but now SE also locked that "new" server so now I'm the one unable to join my friends' new server. Was looking and excited to play with my friend in this early access but ended getting frustrated and not even bothering to log in even on my legacy character. This is total BS

What full legacy servers?
The current full NA/EU servers are Gilgamesh, Leivathan and Moogle. And they are not Legacy.

I'm really surprised that they don't just open another legacy or two and allow free transfers for legacy who wish to play with friends. Seems like the logical solution as this seems to be a huge issue for people as of late.

He means a new world that's technically a legacy world to allow legacy players to have a place to go to play with friends and keep their character. It wasn't to just let legacy players go anywhere.

My suggestions: Prioritize keeping your 1.0 with one of these steps

A. Talk with your friends and see if they will all reroll on your server once it opens up, one fresh start in an MMO not to late in can be fun as it allows your friends to take their experience and apply it from the beginning. I always start over at least once to recustomize my character with things that bothered me in any MMO, it's fun at least for me, I find having a better understanding of the basics and knowing what to expect (not messing around learning menus and core parts of the game, while trying to take in a world and a story) makes the beginning much more enjoyable.

B. Plan to play with your friends for around 6 months on a new toon then xfer your 1.0 when that time comes.

C. If there are lots of friends coming for example a guild from another game and it's to much to coordinate just let the ones that don't get on your server go. A huge portion of MMO players have no loyalty or ability to play any MMO for a prolong period of time, most of them won't stay no matter how good the game is. You don't just decide you love Moogles, and stories randomly always about crystals, and chocobo's. People are going to get mad when i say this but, a lot of the hype is that people want to play a new MMO that's fresh. FF's 2 MMOs I will say to me are different as they are Final Fantasy MMOs and that's why I play them. I enjoy final fantasy I enjoy MMOs hence I enjoy Final Fantasy MMOs. (Obviously this does not apply to everyone.)

Personally I would not be able to throw away all my time invested and game things earned. As that's half of any MMO.

1.0 used the same lock system (seems identical) took about 1-2 weeks to get in at primetime on popular servers. You could get in any weeknight if you set an alarm for 3am and tried then keep in mind old servers had 2 primetimes making them more packed around the clock.

The lock is not a maximum number of character the server can handle kind of lock. It's a launch lock to prevent the starting areas from getting bottle neck flooded causing crashes or the log in servers getting hit to hard and crashing. The population now is much higher then the population two weeks from now, that's just how MMO's work especially if they arn't charging a sub but will be. No MMO has and ever will grow immediately from launch day and never lose players at the start even the dream utopian apex of MMO's 30 years ahead of it's time given to the humans by an advanced alien race would maintain it's launch subscribers without a decline first.

Right now, for people in this predicament, there are 3 options: Play with friends and lose your progress, keep your progress and play without friends or wait indefinitely for the servers to open back up. Seems like lose lose lose to me.

Actually there is another option. Play on a new world for the next 2-3 weeks and transfer then.

dont know why they couldnt do something like the world pass from xi, seems they have overlooked this important aspect of mmos

That's exactly what I'm planning. I'm actually ON moogle. Unfortunately every single one of my friends didn't get on. So now there's about 20 people I had planned to play with that rolled on Phoenix.

Since I've invested time in my character and its very much Solo for the first 25 levels really I said I'll just server transfer in 2-3 weeks when it opens up. I'd like to say that SE might implement a "World Pass" similar to that of XI to allow a single server transfer of a non legacy character so you can play with friends. Seems likely to be honest.

If not I'll have to fork up the cash for a paid character transfer. Which will be quite shady on SE's behalf but I'll have to live with it.

Not that I even have this problem as my wife and I are both on the same server but that seems to be essentially time wasted as once you get back to your main, that character will be put aside. Not to mention if your friends join a new player server, as all legacy servers seem to be locked to character creation afaik, they will all have to pay a fee to transfer to the legacy server as legacy can't transfer to the new servers. If you have several friends who have to pay the transfer fee this could pose a problem.

It seems SE is still thinking that people will stop being logged in for 16+ hours a day and the congestion will subside allowing them to open up new character creation again.

In my opinion, while most people will go back to their regular 2-3 or 4-8 hours a day in a week or less, this is offset by the return of additional 1.0 players with characters that are not legacy and are not in Early Release yet. They have 2 weeks after release (until Sept. 9th) of free to play to decide if they want to subscribe or not.

With NA/EU prime time rolling into one another, I see Legacy servers being full 12 hours a day for the next 3-4 weeks. They did say they will allow paid server transfers in 2-3 weeks after launch, so that would be the time to add servers.

I just hope they add at least a couple additional servers sooner rather than later. ARR is here to say and will draw more players.

The big problem is you can't really plan before all those player that will leave after their 14/30 days trial are gone. If you would add servers now you are going to risk to make the same mistake like SWTOR and getting ghostservers 6 months after launch. That would be far worse than 2 -3 weeks of full servers...
I'm quite sure after all the 1.0 player that won't sub are gone, the problem will be solved and the best solution would be a short period of free transfer non legacy -> legacy (sry but I don't think it's a good idea to let legacy chars transfer onto new servers)

And it would not really be a legacy server if the server is new. Legacy server = 1.0 server

While this is true, they also stand to lose a lot of players who are likely to sub a very long time due to having friends in the game. 2-3 weeks is quite a long time for a fresh game. It's just a sh*tty situation all around for these folks.

I know Excalibur(legacy) is locked, as it is the one my friends were trying to join me on. The last i checked all but 1 legacy server was unlocked. Seriously upsetting, as the last time this happened during the 1.0 server merge Istory was not unlocked for 3 months. I feel it is totally unfair too that I am in a position where I may have to re-roll when I stuck with 1.0 and supported SE as they struggled to revive a broken game. It isnt even to the point where I may re-roll, I will be leaving if I cannot play on my 1.0 char with all of my friends.

I am trying to log in Ragnarok but it just say server if full there is not even a Que system now.
Is this there way to fix things lock people out of server?

Your friends haven't been persistent enough/weren't loyal enough to you.

The last of my friends was able to get into my server this morning. He is re-rolling.

They are having congestion issues. Locking the servers seems like a logical step.
The fact that you're friends are out is no one's fault but their own. The only way it can be is first come first serve. they just came too late. Sad but i dont see it as unfair.

i actually want off of Masamune... i'd take a free world transfer in a flash
