Sad that we are just guinea pigs, right?
But we are the pigs who PAID.

One post gathers everything I think about:
This is so beautiful. Exactly what I've been saying.

Well to be fair early adopters to anything are glorified testers for the product. One of the downsides to wanting to play right at launch.
That's pretty much how MMOs work.
It really does feel that way sometimes today.
All players for the first 45-90 days of an MMOs release are technically Guinea Pigs.
Praise Jesus!
You all make me glad I'm out of town this weekend and can't play even if I wanted to!
Welcome to a MMO launch, nice to meet you.
In all the MMORPGs that I have played in my life, I have never played one where it did not have problems at the very beginning. I have come to accept it as just a necessary evil from wanting to get in the game from the start.
Agreed. But this one has been extra rocky. It's my opinion that SE would benefit a lot from a little communication. We were supposed to be able to log back in almost an hour ago, yet many, if not most, of us are unable to get past the character screen. No explanation. No timetable. Keep in mind that, for Europe, it is the middle of the day. Prime play time for EA customers.
While I am happy I was able to play for a few hours, and highly disappointed in the number of issues and the response from SE.
Running smoothly is one thing but atleast i was able to play others
I simply can't understand why people actually defend when a MMO launch is fail. Yes, the majority of launches are fail, but hey: We had 4 beta phases! This is SquareEnix, a big fat ass game company! This is not a free-to-play freemium crap game!
We paid for the early access (pre-ordering something unreleased). Stop defending saying that this happens and stop qq. We all paid, we all can rage as much as we like. As consumers, we were sold something that is not happening. Again, this is not a F2P game, this is a paid thing. We expect some decency with promises and dates.
So why the hell we pre-ordered anyway if isn't for the early access and get leveled before normal people? For that ugly mog cap? I don't think so.
This is exactly the way I feel. I expect some rocky starts for smaller companies, but SE had 4 beta phases... I know shit happens, but damn I have barely been able to login this weekend to play. For some crazy reason I thought SE would surprise us and have zero issues during Early Access... or at least very minor ones. They have a smaller margin for error since this is the second time this game was released and they are trying to prove themselves again.
And yet, in the end, 1.0 failed.......hence why we have ARR. I'd rather have a rocky start (despite how much it sucks) & have them figure out all the issues. We may only have a handful of hours here & there that we can play, BUT - We can still PLAY. I figured not all would be baby smooth. I would have prefered smoother then this, but when they are dealing with millions of lines of coding they need to sort thru, when the issue has the potential of being ONE little piece of broken code that they need to find & fix, or some little glitch that they may never have expected to arise from a way they put things together - they are only human folks. They are trying. My husband & I are just going to enjoy what we can & be glad we have that. We've still been having fun. Sad for whoever would rather complain then enjoy what they have.
After being 3102ed for much of the OB, and now can't progress at all during EA cause of the instance bug. I feel like it's a lot of time wasted for me. I didn't care as much in OB, because it was a beta, and I figured they were going to fix things. But now that my credit card has been charged already, and I can't progress at all just like in OB, I'm starting to get very disappointed. In the MMO business, the launch window is perhaps the most important part to get right when launching a new game. A really bad start will start to build up bad impressions early on, as I'm sure is happening already with FF14, even if the game is decent. Yes, other games have had similar problematic launches, but there have also been many MMOs with very successful launches with minor bugs (GW2 and Tera to name a few recent ones). A buggy launch with lots of downtime should not be considered the norm these days.
If this were a game wide issue it would be understandable, but the fact is that this problem is only occurring on NA/EU side. I've dealt with Squeenix since the days of NA FFXI release and this is nothing new for them. JP side runs smooth while NA is down more often than not. I'm not saying its intentional, but after this many years it's hard to argue with that idea.
JP servers are also dead in comparison to na/eu during the hours we are getting patched. and the only problems are server not game related. so overall this has been a pretty good start. rocky server issues but great so far when the servers dont explode.
Am I ever glad I cancelled my order with another company and bought it from SE to insure I got early access.
Not only did I give up an awesome looking poster, I gave up free shipping.
I paid an extra $12 in shipping fees, and lost out on cool stuff, for this early access. and so far I've gotten 15 minutes of play time.
We aren't even guinea pigs at this point, the servers have to be on for us to be guinea pigs. The best label we can hope for, at this point, is "Sucker"
Hey Peppe, we've did Ifrit together last night remember? I want the CNJ. I don't have a keyboard lol.
xD Everyone else died and it was just you and me? Good times. I shoulda let you used the limit break but I wanted to see how my 2nd one looked like.
I think you coulda used Topaz Carby so it coulda tanked. c:
Good run.
I have run into very little issues on the ps3 compared to PC, w.
Basically it comes down to 1 thing. They didn't do a long enough, appropriate stress test in P4. We started seeing these problems in P4 and they clearly were not fixed. That is the whole point of beta to eliminate major issues like this. The release of an MMO always has bugs but they should be minor. We waited and suffered delays with pre-Activison Blizzard because they produced a quality product that worked. Early Access is not supposed to be a beta stress test that was P4...
Annnd all NA down again http://arrstatus.com/
While JP all up. As always.
When I logged on today the game was playing fine. The chat log wasn't filled with complaints. I truly am enjoying this game. I mean whats the hurry? Why is everyone in a rush? Murica!
Official release = beta 6?
