should be add or not?
I think the face should be separate from the head. Seems kind of silly that you can't wear a mask or glasses while wearing a hat. :D
Maybe they could categorize it as an accessory slot.
Cape would be interesting, as well as face when you are wearing a cloak or a hat. Shoulders might be too similar to a cape slot. They should just add a "Back" slot.
Don't want shoulders or cape (its not WoW ROFLOL) face isn't a bad idea though.
They cant balance accessories already so more equip slot options seems like a very , very far away idea , if it ever would happen.
personally im all about it customization is great. But judging by the developers history i would think this is never going to happen.
but I want Cape
they can add epicness to our characters and many characters in FF series wear capes
cape, hmmmmm.
i wouldn't make it a cape slot, rather a "back" slot.
would be pretty cool to have such a slot for class specific gear.
like a backbag for DoL classes to have increased inventory space especially for farming.
or a scarf for thief/ninja classes and capes for the tanks.
but mostly this stuff is just for looks, and if SE feels like adding a cape/scarf or backbag to have a more unique class design they'd prolly do so by just adding those pieces so it's conntected with the body armor.
There is already a pouch slot.Quote:

I have seen NPC wearing glasses together with a hood, you can find the NPC standing around in the traumaturge guild close to the entrance.
i know, but as a pouch i more of understand something like a small waist bag.
i wonder if we'll ever get equip for that slot ._.!
I remember back in beta being able to equip a mask and a hooded cowl at the same time, too bad they removed it.
I think those assassins from The Devilet Inside also wear masks and hooded cowls.
Accessories are balanced, the stats themselves aren't.
Stuff like this would fall under "decoration" type of equipment, separate from beneficial equipment. Also "judging by the developer's history", e.g Final Fantasy 1 - 14 (and off shoots), Front Mission - Front Mission Online/Evolved, Romancing SaGa 1-3 (+ Frontier, Remakes etc) it's up to if they decide it worthwhile in an MMO environment.
sorry tough we were talking about FFXIV.
And no i would say yey for more slots for actual equipment , we dont need more fluff with the stage of the game.
The only reason to not be able to equip full accessories slots is because they were to lazy or ran out of time to balance it correctly .This type of development is seen all around in the game.
Shoulders: No. Shoulderpads and such are already built into the armors, so there's no need.
Face: Yes, but it would probably be to hard to do separate face/helm components. You would need to account for every single variation when making new items for either.
Cloaks: Yes, with two caveats. 1) They should have hoods that can be raised/lowered. Said hoods should also not cause my hair to disappear. 2) They should be full cloaks, meaning they wrap all the way around the sides to the front, instead of just hanging uselessly on our back.
We are talking about XIV, but when you say Developer's history, you're refering to Square(soft)Enix's history, which plenty of their games have decoration type of equipment. Decoration equipment in MMORPGs are stuff that makes your character "look epic" but doesn't give you wildly useful stats, which is what end game equipment and the like are for which we already know is coming.
Take Ragnarok Online for example, Wings and earmuff type of gears give nice little boosts, but nothing that will completely change your gameplay experience, mostly for looks for those who want to look epic mainly. I shouldn't have to use a cape because it gives +50 INT and 275 Magic Accuracy, it would look silly on a conjurer.
That's why they call it "decoration", another word is "Optional".
I wouldn't mind getting the back slot back...especially since they teased us with the NPC in the opening video leaning against the wall with a visible cape (something that was wanted since XI)...

If the cape is this subtle yeah.
Yeah this is a great idea and then SE could also then add a slot cost to the Cape, Shoulder, Face and Head items so that it would be more inefficient to wear the high level gear.
Only kidding just venting my anger on the accessory slot cost thing ^^ but yeah more item's and gear can never be a bad thing can it?
Great Idea!! SE please do this!!
I started a 'capes thread' a couple weeks back about the physics capabilities of the graphics engine, but also how timely it would be for the devs to graphically fit capes over every piece of gear. I followed up with an idea about implementing gear slots within certain pieces of gear (mid-high level) that allowed for capes and materia add-ons (materia could boost certain abilities/skills as opposed to character stats like WoW's glyph system... forgive me for using WoW as an example).
That logic was based mainly on the current system to be able to implement capes over the current gear system... but if I were to choose regardless of man-power, time and dev priorities... man, I'd pee myself over an update with new back slots for visible physics-based capes, hooded cloaks, scarves, backpacks and FFXI's potion tanks as additional gear options... sigh... one can only hope.
I say yes to as many gear slots as possible.
Agreed. I want more masks and to be able to wear them with a cloak!
Make the face slot completely cosmetic
I thought it was weird that I couldn't equip a circlet and a wooden mask at the same time.
So, yeah.
i want wings with plus to movement speed :)
Well, seeing as how I've already made a thread about a "face" slot, I'm all for it! And yes, it would be a purely cosmetic slot, so that people could wear glasses, goggles, masks, etc. along with their hats and helms.
Shoulder slots seem a bit useless. "Body" gear already has shoulders on them. I guess if they were to be added, they should only provide a minimal amount of stats.
Capes seem kind of tacky, but as long as they're purely cosmetic and/or can be hidden, I guess that's alright. I'd definitely be leaving mine blank, haha. There's also already a thread on capes as well.
Might want to do some quick searching before creating new threads. :p
cape would be nice. but i want option to show/ turn off cape future.
No cape slot, were adventurers, not super heroes... As for shoulders, it just wouldn't work because current body slot models already have shoulder pads on them. However, the face slot would be a good idea.
it shouldn't be "cape," no, but we should have a "back" option, much like FFXI had. You could wear mantles, capes and such. Also...in regards to your superhero comment...many many adventurers wear capes. Have you ever played Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, ANY early FF, or really any other good fantasy game? Most of the adventurers in these games had a cape or mantel of some sorts.
I realize there were capes in FFXI, but they were not visible. FFXIV has made it a point to make all of your gear visible, even your rings. I just don't think capes would fit the art direction in this game.Quote:
