Hi!

I haven't done it myself, but I think I've read that it requires mooching other fish.
I believe the method is, fish up HQ smaller fish, mooch it to catch higher fish.
And I'm not sure if those sharks require double mooching or not, where you mooch the fish you caught from mooching the first fish.
You can get Silver Sharks mooching Fullmoon Sardines in Eastern La Noscea or Merlthor Goby in Western Thanalan, still trying to find the Hammerheads.
I was wondering if someone could help me since im on a new server and no one is using these things yet. I have been fishing up some silver sharks at costa del sol and was wondering how much they sell for. I heard they were expensive but since none are on the market board or have ever been sold i have nothing to go on. thanks in advance
There are some hammerheads in West La Noscea past Aleport camp to the NW, Lvl35 body of water with LVL 41+ mobs around. It's a bad catch rate since there's about eight things in the water there.
Awesome! Time to get us some shark oil xD
The full moon sardine can only be fish at night, I was using Spoon Worms
I'm not seeing any Merlthor Gobies in Western Thanalan, where exactly? Thanks.
For reference, In Cape West you have to double mooch (Goby into Wahoo into Shark)
I'm using rat tails ar starting bait.
Is there a certain amount of Perception you need for gathering the Silver Sharks?
You can reel in Hammerheads by the truckloads using Iron Jig lure around Silver Bazaar (Western Thanalan). Silver Sharks are a pain in the arse, though - you either mooch/double mooch with low-level bait in Cape Westwind, or try your luck in Bloodshore during nighttime for Sardine mooching.
At Cape West Wind, mooching Merlthor Goby can catch either Wahoo or Silver Shark. The rate of getting Wahoo seems to be slightly higher, though.
It's a lot easier to just mooch Silver Sharks with Merlthor Gobies with Lug Worms in South Bloodshore than trying to get them with Fullmoon Sardines. You get either Silver Shark or a Blue Octopus, and the rate seems to be about 15-1 shark-octopus when I've caught them. Why everyone either tries to double mooch through Wahoo or use time limited Fullmoons always baffles me.
You don't have to use sardines in specific. You can catch Merlthor Goby off the South Bloodshore (in my case with a floating minnow jig) to mooch for Silver Shark there as well, and since it's a level 25 location, you'll have more luck getting high quality Goby. The downside is you'll have more types of fish to get after a Mooch. Cape Westwind is good if you're a high level fisherman, but anything lower will slash your HQ Goby chance significantly.
EDIT: The coral butterflies and blue coral are also pretty nice to catch from Bloodshore, too.
