Chocobo Companion

How do you get it? I can't seem to figure it out..

you need to be in a GC and then u need 1000 tokens from fates.

just wondering GC ? fate Tokens okay but what's GC ?

How do you get your Battle Chocobo? Iv long goon and had the mount one.. lil help plz ^^

You must first enlist in a Grand Company. (GC) There may be a prerequisite quest involved after joining GC.

I am not talking about getting a Chocobo.. but the companion. Fighting along side of you.

no one seems to know shit about the battle chocobo's -_- or how to get them ....

iv got all lv50s, fin all my Story quets up to lv30, have 99 greens on me and my GC Chief Serpent rank back and still cant got it.. So 1: SE wont let us use one till after live, or 2: Ppl cant seem to get it bc SE for got to add the right quest/NPC or 3: We just have no idea what to do.. ooo well lol

To get a chocobo mount or battle companion you just follow the main story. Once you get past the ifrit battle you will be instructed to join a grand company. Once you do that you will be given a quest to talk to the chocobo dude. He tell you to buy an item from the grand company you joined. This costs 1000 grand company seals. Once you buy it you can summon the chocobo as a mount. To summon him as a fighting companion you need to buy gysahl greens from an independent importer, the dude who sells the pets. Then you just use the greens to summon the companion. At least this is how it was in P3.

It cost me 2K seals. The Wandering Minstrel isn't around to get whats needed to use the Chocobo in battle, and the Greens don't seem to work to summon it. Can only seem to summon it and use it as a mount.

so they dropped the ball and freaking forgot to make sure one of the best aspects to have at launch is completely broken due to quest chains

Again, you are misunderstanding me. I have 3 mounts, including 2 different Chocobos.
I am looking to get the Chocobo battle companion. I just wanted to know where I can find it.
That previous NPC that "switches" your chocobo to battle companion isn't there anymore and you can't just use the greens, it says "you haven't learned this yet".

Location / NPC ?

This information is still tied to the story, but clearly very late into the story because they want people to level. I'm going to make a ballpark guess and probably say it'll be a very high level unlock.

I hope you're being sarcastic. It's more like no one has figured out how to unlock them. In phase 3 all we had to do was talk to the wandering minstrel. Since the wandering minstrel was just added to allow access to mid to high level content during beta it was no longer necessary since we can now access them without his help. So, like stated in a previous comment, unlocking the battle chocobo is probably a benefit of a mid to high level quest. Probably down the main storyline or a stand alone quest in a higher level area.

I could have sworn Yoshida said a few months back that we needed to raise a Chocobo in order for it to fight. The Grand Company Chocobos are all males. I'm sure we just need to figure out how to get a female Chocobo and breed it. It's either a late game quest or a side quest. The Wandering Minstrel probably just allowed us to use the GC Chocobo because that's the only one we had access to.

I cant seem to find the minstrel either, not sure how to activate the chcobo to help?

Any word on this? I haven't figured it out yet

I'm not sure if it different for each GC but there was an NPC with a quest in Camp Tranquil that allowed you to get your battle chocobo.

Her name is "Docette"

There's a quest that starts from Camp Tranquil called "My Feisty Little Chocobo". I don't know what level it starts, potentially 30, but all I know is that it's unavailable for me at level 28.

you get the quest at camp traquil or something.

Apparently there is a level 30 quest that unlocks your Chocobo companion..either that or it starts the chain quest that unlocks it. I saw somebody with his companion out along with Carbuncle and that's what I was told after asking.

To confirm, I now have my chocobo as a battle companion after going to Docette in Camp Tranquil after reaching level 30. You must do a short little quest where you go to Bentbranch Meadows, then get a quest item nearby, then voila!

Interesting things to note: Your chocobo doesn't have any abilities and can only stay in "free stance" from the beginning. As it gains experience from you killing things together, it goes up "ranks". Each rank you can add a new ability to one of the 3 "trees" or "specs".
