These restrictions are in place because of the piss-poor behavior of posters in the Beta Genital (General) Forums. If the community has proven itself to be civil, the mods will likely lift the restrictions.

That makes no sense. Restricting post count doesn't make people prioritize happy thoughts.

It does seem rather odd that there is a post limit lol, but I guess since they are tangled up with early access it kind of makes sense. You wouldnt want them taking more time getting the forums back up and running and slowing the game progression down.

I'm guessing it's to prevent news from disappearing and a flood of new threads with questions easily found via searching. It's launching this week, going to be a LOT of activity here. They have to enforce some sort of restriction or it'll be impossible to find useful information and all we need to do is look at gamefaqs for their floods of threads with the same question...

I can understand limiting daily posts to deal with trolls and keep the clutter to a minimum but to limit based on in game level is just silly.

I agree. I've been wanting to post on these forums for a while and to get hit with the limit is pretty lame. Maybe it'll change in the future after everything is settled after launch.

I don't think it silly... you have 10x more newbe/trolls posting usless crap at lower lvs then high lv endgamers..... Don't for get a good 75% of the ppl that will be playing are all 1.0 come backs with high lv's..

I believe this is to avoid RMT from spamming by making an account and spamming the forums as level 1. Since sometimes RMT are bold enough to spam official forums over and over with level 1 accounts.

It doesn't make people have happy thoughts, but it does cut down on the number of threads that were getting posted every second such as...

Seriously, before the restrictions were put in place, every time there was an issue, new dev post, news, video, etc. there's at least 10 new topics being posted about it every 5 minutes. It was seriously just that bad and if people really can't control themselves, like they proved thus far they can't, the devs have to do something to keep the forums manageable.

Seriously though I can understand the intentions for these restrictions but it's just TOO restrictive. I am just keeping hopes up that this is just for EA until a little while into release to relieve congestion.

Problem does exist, and did exist on the alpha and beta forums, and existed in the 1.0 forums. Back in 1.0 there were hundreds of people that kept trolling the forums during the pay to play part that had no active service accounts and didn't want to play the game yet harassed people all over the forums, so everyone can thank those kind of people, plus the hundreds of trolls over at the alpha and beta forums for both a post count character limit and thread + post cap per day.

You mean the mods don't want to properly moderate the forums so they feel they have to inconvenience the well behaved users as much as possible, because the trolls won't care about post limits and they will post as much as possible whilst we can't have proper discussions. We will already have only subscribers, whereas the beta forum was anyone that wanted to sign up (most of which we will never see again) so effectively no limitations, therefore more trolling.

Also, if you haven't noticed, this thread seems to be addressed to the community, not the devs, so it is very much in the right section.

Or, something more reasonable, is to hire moderators that actually moderate the forums, and have them take care of the trolls, instead of snuffing out any chance of fostering an actual community.


As a very social person, 20 posts a day, at 4 posts an hour is not only not enough, but freakishly agonizing.
It results in these ugly-ass quote conversations that are going to plague these forums if people will actually still bother to come here to discuss things.
That's not how forums work.

I know it's not but you can still discuss it with other players there, the strict rules are here for a reason, which over time will most likely get increased to a more sensible size, not to mention people will increase in level so those that were capped in to 20 in open beta will get access to the 20 per day. And then later on when things calm down a little they will increase the cap. If people didn't want to abuse "freedom of speech" to give out endless hate speech in 1.0 and alpha/beta forums there wouldn't be threads like this talking about a post cap.
