Increase the size of the summers Egi's. (yes this again)

I get why they are partial monsters and i know they arent supposed to be huge, but man after watching the vid again, they are so puny its sad. Carby is perfect and sadly i think hes bigger than the rest (he has always been the little summon)

i dont want gigantic ones, just make them a decent size. My friend saw them and just laughed and said "hell carby looks more intimidating then them"

also give us a buffer summon/buff skills to each of them so they stand out a bit more (ifrit gives attack boost or fire added dmg/ titan ups DEF or can give group stoneskin/ garuda can give an eva boost/move speed/resistance boost)

It mostly has to do with battle targeting It was hard enough wading through all the Carbys in some FATEs in P4. I can only imagine how hard it's going to be when there's a dozen or more larger Egis clogging up the screen.

Before P4 battles were already pretty flashy. Larger Egis would naturally mean larger battle effects. Larger battle effects multiplied by many players leads to more system strain. In case anyone missed it, the devs said the Egis were originally larger but their size was later reduced. This could have been done in an attempt to lower minimum system requirements. I'm pretty sure there's an option to turn off other player's battle effects. I shouldn't have to.

Lore-wise it also makes sense. Yes I know that historically FF summoners called great big powerful beasts. Bar X's unique system all the FF summons were also single attacks. This makes it much easier to make them larger and more fearsome. This matters a lot more in the games where a dedicated summoner is present (IV, IX, X). Dedicated summoners have a much larger impact on their respective worlds than summoners in any other FF. In an MMO since any character can be a summoner the class itself has the same influence on Eorzea as any other class. Giving them larger Egis by any amount would diminish this effect.

Also, who cares?

God no. If you were a TRUE SMN you would love the way the Egi's are already formed. Just leave it alone dude, no one seems to care but you lol.

I agree with OP; however I don't see square changing it now. It's too late and won't happen, sucks but it's true.

Honestly, I get where you're coming from but it's all cosmetic and has nothing to do with functionality. Should it bother you that much?

If your friend laughs at them. Who cares? I don't because I enjoy the class mechanics and gameplay, so should you if that's what you seem to want to play.

On the pet buffing skills, I strongly disapprove because of what happened to summoner in FFXI, I'm not saying it'll happen here but in FFXI it basically turned them into a heal/buff class instead of a damage/support class. I'm not against SCH having such pets, however.

Smaller egis are a little more practical. People already complained about not being able to see the battle because of the animations but you really think those same people will appreciate a giant summon doing the same?

the fact that this is far from the first thread about this, im sure im not the only one lol. Also EVERY single FF game that exists summons are giant and powerful, never are they tiny like this. People can see just fine, it worked in XI as an MMO with lots of players and im sure if BST ever made its way here, people would moan just as much if they shrunk them all tiny for the same reasons.

For a game thats got FF fan fare flowing out every pore, its weird to see such a major staple being put in such a strange way. Summoners are supposed to be super powerful mages, yet they summon this dinky half made summons that look more cute than tough. Yes it bothers me still, and its not a hard change ( they changed mob sizes a couple times in 1.0) so it cant be that hard. Im not asking for giant ones, just bigger than they are now.

I think a special spell that shortly super powers the Esper to a +1 form would be cool (larger/upgraded look, basically super saiyan mode for your summons).

And yeah I'm just going to start it now - Esper, Edileon, w.e but I'm not going to call it an eggy. So silly/lame sounding (yes I'm being difficult :P lol).

Real men summon fairies anyways.

Just because the game is launching doesn't mean they can't continue to improve the game's current content and make adjustments.

I have to agree, Summoner's Eggi or Egi, whatever the heck it's called is too small.

So what you are saying is that digital representations of mobs within the game will be less intimidated by the egi's and more apt to attack your summoner because they are smaller?

Cause if not I fail to see how that has anything to do with anything. If you think a real life player looks at your summons and gets intimidated both they and you have bigger worries than what size egi's are in this game.

I knew it was only a matter of time until the Beta posters started showing up.

I agree with the OP. The way they are now, egis are pretty underwhelming, really, not only because of their itty bitty size but their design as well. Buuut I think making them bigger would help a bit at least, and I don't mean XI's Diabolos big, but being about the size of a hume or so would help them look slightly better at least... something like these that some people in the beta forums made some time ago

i remmeber this, and the size that they showed as "what we want" is great if you ask me, not gigantic, but not so small they look like fragile playthings. So far most peoples best response is just "deal with it" which isnt the best way to argue why you think it should stay the same. I gave a legit reason why i want them changed (its not FF like at all mainly) so if they devs said "we are willing to change the size, how would you like it and why?" would you stay with how they are? Like i said, its not something that would be a huge task to change. Mob/effect and such sizes change all the time so it could be possible down the line to alter them and if they can, id like to keep it in the devs mind that me and some others don't exactly love the small size like others here do.

I would also love to see a slight size increase like what is shown in that image. I think a number of players are attracted to the summoner class/characters in final fantasy because they can call upon powerful and imposing beings for magical aid. The summons in the single-player RPGs of the series are typically accompanied by visually impressive and lengthy sequences, and the avatars of FFXI were generally larger than a player character. I understand and agree with the need to limit egi size due to screen crowding, but they still strike me as a little too small.

I have to agree on this everytime it's posted, back when ff7 came out i wasn't into rpgs yet so my first final fantasy was 9 (i eventually went back to the others to play them) but in 9 i had the impression that summoners were these very special spirit mediums who with certain crystals along with the proper spiritual fortitude could summon beings of great and forbidden power. The majestic feeling I gained spurred me on to play 7, 8, 10 and eventually 12 which was the last i played but i have never once imagined that a final fantasy summon would be anything other than...an actual summon of a monster. Truth be told i feel these egi's are a cop out, why? Because guess what other MMO I have played, Aion, and can anyone remember the pet class of that game? Let me show you the class I played in that game..it was called:

Ya I instantly thought of Aion's spiritmaster class as well when I first saw the Egis. I definitely would not be opposed to the size increase as shown in the image posted a page or so back.

A slight size increase would be nice.

I only kinda dislike the garuda eggi. Looks too generic compared to the other ones.

If it aint broke, why bother?

I'm planning to wait until I have the actual smn's but I agree somewhat.
I want a SLIGHT increase in size. Just SLIGHT.
Dont care about them being remade. I dont want them twice the size of my characters. I however do want them somewhat close to the size of a human. I think that is fair. My bigger fear though is they're scaled to the character summoning them, which is why I'm waiting to make a thread.

My reason? I think it would look strange to see my "powerful summon" to be half my size, fighting a monster 6 times my size, fighting it right next to fellow players also twice the size. My summon is supposed to fight on my behalf, at least make it look like its on par with the lancer/monk on some level (only by appearance im talking about). I think thats more then fair.

I'm not going to lie, but I laughed when I first saw the Egis. Terrible. Ifrit shits bigger than what his egi looks like.
