Levelling Guide to Ffxiv - A Realm Reborn

Hi Everyone,

I developed this basic Levelling Guide for those starting out in FFXIV. I will be updating it with more detailed information over the next few weeks, but I thought I'd post it now as it might help new players find their way around this wonderful game.

She has reached her post limit but she gives many thanks for you taking the time to read it. She put a lot of time in and she is happy that it is able to help players and hopefully get more people really into the game.

I appreciate the thread! There are some things I haven't gotten around to figuring out yet so this will definitely save me some time this weekend.

I would go so far as to suggest this be a sticky, it is an essential help to players and really would help us all.

It's a nice guide, but honestly the best guide I can think of for leveling is:

"Follow your story quests, do your class quests, and do your dungeons."

To be fair, that's more or less what's listed in the guide.



On another note, you really should get into cross class skills more, some of them are OP for leveling (Looking at you Raging Strikes/Straight Shot from Archer and Cure/Shell from Conjurer)

Thanks for the info, at first I was doing every guest I came across because I like doing everything but it is definitely a good idea to leave the small side quests for other classes later on.

My comment was more directed twards Serashae, who I would hope knows the common MMO acronyms but here's a definition for you:

OP = Over Powered = Really good skill to use (They're not actually overpowered [in this situation], but MMO vernacular has basically shifted to let OP mean very good in situations)

OK Daiceman thanks for that appreciate it very much. I know the abbreviations have spread like wildfire among some parts of the gaming world, as with other parts of the internet, i come from an older generation and predate all of this so at times it is hard to follow, which does not mean i can't learn :) I have a lingering fondness for the language but understand things change over time...and i do appreciate the explanaiton..now that is no longer a mystery:) and Do please keep updating as we see the full game Serashae San, it is a lovely guide indeed.

On that note could someone post a thread on all the acronyms on this forum please for the newbies to FFXIV and MMO's. Some might be common MMO acronyms but it would be very helpful and appreciated by us. Thanks.

Mellotronscratch...second that, great idea. That would be a BIG help to have a laundry list of MMO and FFXIV abbreviations. Looking forward to it once we get into the game and people catch up on their sleep tomorrow lol

Updates to the Levelling Guide have been made to incorporate Official Release data and is up to date to level 35
