When the patcher updated the other day it left a ghost copy of beta on your system, simply uninstall the beta version and you will be able to patch properly. You're welcome.

This is a fix for PC
I can also confirm that's totally untrue too, I've not got the error and I've never uninsalled the beta, its still just sitting there harmlessly in my SE folder right next to the official version.
Edit: The FFXIV launcher supports resumes after each file is totally downloaded, graphically (at least on the PC version) it always starts over from 0% even when it resumes the download.

I ran into this problem today on one of my pc's getting the latest update. I went into this directory and deleted an old patch file and it updated fine.
C:\Users\*****\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\downloads\ffxivpatch\4e9a232b\patch\(nameofpatchfile stuck in here)
Hope this helps.
Thanks guys! this helped a lot.

Here is a link for windows xp: what os are you on?
http://www.mediacollege.com/computer/network/dns.html
Some of the concepts are very similiar its how you get to the network that might be different. Plus to map to google you need to google what their dns servers are. I also have used opendns.com and their free dns as well. Very nicely done.
Here are their two ip address's:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Edit: if your on windows 8 or 7 then google "How do i manually configure my dns for windows (x)?" and replace x with what you have and you will get plenty of explanations.
You are my SAVIOR! I've spent all day re-downloading the patch over and over trying to fix the problem. When I went into that folder and just deleted it completely and re-downloaded the patch it worked fine. What someone mentioned earlier is true, the previous patches made a leftover "folder" which was technically empty in that location as well causing the patch to be confused as to where to pull the data when adding the downloaded content. When you delete the entire folder from the "My Games" section it will ask you to re-affirm the ToS and such but it will allow you to patch properly. Thanks again :D

I had this problem as well.
I had two empty folders in the ...\patch\ folder and I moved them out of that folder (like WHS suggested) and had no trouble with the download.
