The long search for the lost shoes (aka: where are my Hermes Sandals?)

Hi there folks,
when creating my new character during beta phase 4 (yes, I don't want to use my old ones anymore) I noticed that I received all the three main "special" items I had on my old chars, that is:

Onion Helm
Garlond Goggles
Asuran Gloves

That's ok, since those items are "Bound on Account" and should be shared among all characters created within that account.
Back in FFXIV 1.0 the same used to happen with another item called "Hermes Sandals", the strange part though is that my new character created in ARR didn't receive them, like the other three mentioned above.
Is this "working as intented"? Isn't there any other way to obtain the Hermes Sandals which should in theory be bound to my account?

it's possible that the item was removed. But I'd request a ticket to be sure.

My understanding is that the sandals only were given to characters created while you paid for a subscription to both FF14 and FF11. Once the promotion stopped, new characters don't get the sandals anymore.

Hermes' Shoes still exist in the game. I have them on my first 1.0 character. Unfortunately, I'm somewhat in the same boat as you Monsalvato, as I won't be playing that character much, and I would much rather have access to them on my new main character (or even all new characters that I make, if the devs are feeling generous). Perhaps if enough people show interest/support, SE will consider flagging them as account items, and resend them to those for whom the item is missing?

Probably low on their priority list atm though, with EA/launch right around the corner. :)

Hermes sandals were only applied to one character not the whole account. Only one of my 1.0 characters ever had them.

perhaps you should check your armoire. that's where all my stuff was.

The above is truth. If you log in on your old character you might have stuck them in your armoire. Won't be able to find out until the 24th though.

My Onion Helm and Asuran Armguards were in my armoire, so there's a good chance your Hermes Sandals might be there.

problem with shoes long searches wear them out. you'll need a trip to the cobbler now.

They already were flagged as account, I had them on 3 characters at the time.
It's probably like Atherial said, it was a temporary promotion which somehow expired without nobody noticing or them telling us.

I don't want to whine over measure, the item is not even *that* useful now that we have Spring, but still I'm a bit OCD and a bit of a packrat, and I'd really love to be able to get them again or, if not possible, to transfer them from my old characters to the new one.

Sorry but I had 3 characters, created at different time (one at launch, 2 much later, shortly before FFXIV 1.0 stopped being for free) and all of them had Hermes Shoes.

As I tried to mention before, I'm not 100% but pretty confident Hermes Shoes are *still* on my old characters.
Thing is that I want to create (already did, actually) a new character to play ARR, and I would have loved to get Hermes Shoes on him as well just like I received all the other limited "special" items ^^'

As an owner of Hermes' shoes I can confirm that they were only available to the characters created while you were simultaneously subscribed to XI and XIV during the time of that promotion. I know because I created TWO characters while subscribed to both, cancelled my XI subscription, and the alts I made after that did not get the shoes.

Would seem like now they oughta be account wide, since my alts who need it the most ('cause they spend more of their time running around town) don't have them, but that's not what SE did. Shucks. :/

Don't panic! The Hermes' shoes are still with the characters that obtained them in version 1.0.
However, as they are not account bound items, they will not appear in the list of items you see registered to your account or on new characters.

Yeah, I meant more along the lines of flagging them now for our 2.0 characters, so they are mailed to all of our existing/new characters (not unlike the Onion Helm, Asuran Armguards, etc.). I kind of doubt it will happen, but you never know with the new dev team!

Thanks for the attention Bayohne, but unlike other people I wasn't afraid they disappeared from old characters.
Was kinda asking if there could be a chance to obtain them on new characters.
I am currently subscribed to FFXI, have been for the past 10 years and have no intention to stop at least for a good while.

Any chance we can get them, or have a GM "Move" them from one character to another? Pretty please?

Hermes sandals... Care to help me find my Mog Fists? Can't find them anywhere on my char.

Absolutely this. I have been subscribed concurrently almost the full duration to FFXI since North American PS2 launch. I now wish to main a second character on a new server to experience the game with non legacy friends from the ground up and still have my XI account active and feel that I should receive these as an account bound item. I hope this gets enough support to get notice from developers. Thanks.

I'm missing my Hermes sandals too. They wernt there in p3 or in p4 and i only have one toon and hes been rolled over.

My Hermes' Shoes were missing P3 and P4, and I've only ever had one character, which did have Hermes' Shoes.

Hey Bayohne!

So, back during the early access of 1.0, my 1.0 CE items (except for hermes shoes) went to my deactivated 1.0 beta account. I called support back then and they said they were working on the issue and they'd send me new codes. They said this like three times but they only sent me one code in all those times...and it was for the certificate (Which I already had at that point)

I called a couple months ago asking again if I gave them my old codes if I could get new ones to get those items back....and they said at the beginning of ARR to call them back with those code numbers and they'd issue me new codes to apply to my account.

So..how accurate is that? Can they do that? Will that work?

The Hermes Sandals were given as a promotion to anyone that had an active service account on both FFXIV (v1.0) and FFXI (Playonline) on the same SE account.

It was never done with an item code and marking (permanent option) on the FFXIV Service account. It was only just the active status of accounts on both games.

SE announced the promotion was being terminated as of September 29, 2012. This was the last date on which it was possible to make a new option where a new character could be created.

For any character carried over from V1.0, if you received the Hermes Sandals as you created the character in V1.0, and you did NOT THROW THEM AWAY prior to the Save Maintenance on October 31, 2012, they will still be there in FFXIV:ARR on that carried over character in your carried over inventory somewhere.

However, since the promotion was terminated, there will be no Hermes Sandals delivered to anyone in FFXIV:ARR (unless SE changes its mind and re-instates that promotion).

I found my Hermes shoes in the armoire of my inn room :) check when you log in this weekend!

Did any of you freaking out think to check the calamity salvager? Maybe your inventory was full when they reduced personal inventory space and they got sent there.

I found my Hermes Shoes!!!

Wow they are so much more useful than in 1.0 where you could only use them once per 24 hours.

Now it gives you "permanent" sprint in cities - love it!

Same here Iryu. I have no idea where my Hermes Shoes are (and my Onion Helm for that matter). I checked the Calamity Salvage guy and the Armoire and still no idea where they are. =(

just out of curiosity what does this have to do with new players? its obviously a technical support issue for a veteran player who should have permissions to post in any of the other sections. and on top of that it gets a rep who should be monitoring the voracity of this sections threads participating in it.

New to 2.0, perhaps? Asking how specialty and/or account-bound items work in 2.0 doesn't seem unreasonable. Having played 1.0 doesn't necessarily mean a player is master of everything 2.0. I can certainly understand how some 1.0 players may have only recently gotten a chance to try the game out, only to be left confused as to where their old items were; especially if they have checked the obvious in-game locations (inventory, mail, calamity salvager, armoire, retainers, etc.).

The state of the beta forums may have further compounded the issue (the topic could have just as easily fit as a beta feedback suggestion, as it does a technical support issue). Then again, semantics...

actually because its about legacy items missing it both means its not a new player issue and a technical support issue both are not supposed to be posted in this forum. and a rep participating shows complete disregard for the very rules they created.
