Scholars, check in!

Who out there is thinking about playing Scholar as their main job at launch?

I've been a long-time healer/White Mage in FFXIV, and while I enjoy it, I'm looking forward to a new spin on healing, and the Scholar's ability set looks pretty fun. Heals, shields, AOE shields and buffs, and a healing pet that can heal or give buffs either on its own or by your command. Unless some sort of severe bug or imbalance is found that makes Scholars unviable as main healers, that's what I'll be focusing on in group content and for endgame.

If you've got any useful tips to share about the Job as we enter Early Access and the official launch, post them up so we can help Scholars everywhere level up their skills!

I'm really looking forward to it, given the leaked information on skills.

I just wish Scholars had different armor designs.

I will at the very least look forward to checking it out. White Mage was my main job in 1.0, and I even went through the three dungeons in Phase 4 as arcanist by healing the party. Will be interesting to see what tools Scholar brings.

I'm maining Scholar because of the AF design and I don't mind healing. It's fun if the mechanics is fun. I don't like Vanilla healing mechanics like White Mage. My question about Scholar is if we can customize pet behavior via gambit system. I heard this game uses that, but I haven't found the configuration UI for it. I want my pet to be independant. I don't want to have to press buttons for it to do a certain action because I'll be busy with my own thing.

Due to shields and damage reduction area effects, Scholars looks to be more suited for fights with very heavy hitting bosses, especially if they have one-shot moves. White Mage seem to be better with area heals.

I was able to get my friends to come back 14 and it was decided I had to heal so definitely going to try it out ^^

I'm definitely looking forward to trying SCH out :) I love healing rolls and am really interested to see how this is going to pan out for groups

WHM will be my Main Job. But SCH will be my second. I just like to heal :-)

I like the idea of trying out sch, but I have no desire to level arcanist for quite some time til the lore wears off for other players

I'll main Scholar, have WHM and SMN as backups.

White Mage was my main during 1.0, but I've certainly been enjoying Arcanist and absolutely plan to use Scholar as my main for group content.

I too plan on making Scholar my main. I think the mechanics of scholar healing sounds very fun, and I have high hopes for the Job! Fingers crossed it's as fun as it seems.

I'm used to be healer in many games, so gonna try scholar in this one. Fell in love with that fairy pet :D Anyone know how the fairy is going to help u in combat? Does it just heal and give buffs, or can it make some damage also?

Will try to hit WHM before I go for SCH, will wait and see how scholar pans out once live play is on and we get more hands-on info on it.

I will probably give it a shot. I plan on doing White Mage as a start, but I am willing to try out scholar as well. Some of the abilities look interesting and the concept also seems like it will be worth checking out. Personally, I just enjoy healing so regardless of what class I am playing I am sure I will have fun. However, I do like to play the one that I feel is a greater challenge, so depending on which one keeps my brain moving while I am planning out my heals is probably the one I will be going with. And I also like to do some dps when healing isn't needed (like on trash mobs or something) because I hate standing around being bored >.< So whichever of those jobs is more suited to that play style will also be taken into consideration. :)

I already have a WHM, but I plan on focusing on Arcanist/Scholar when I get back in the game. I can't wait to give it a go. I enjoy healing as WHM, but to be perfectly honest, I think Scholar looks a bit more interesting (with the mechanics). :) Plus, you have a pet!

I cannot wait to walk around in the Scholar AF. I know we can hide head pieces but I wonder if we can hide just the hat and keep the spectacles on...
