Good idea but I think it could be hard for new players to join...
So my suggestion would be either:

• make it on Sunday so that new players have the time to go through story on saturday until they get and airship pass
• arrange a caravan from Uldah and Grid prior the event for high level people to escort low level players who wish to participate (like meeting 30minutes before so people have time to get there)

just my 2 cents ^^

I'm sure we could make a train from Gridania to Costa an hour or two before to help new players get there.

That's 3 hours after EA starts right?

You should consider changing the time to the start of official service.
This will allow the people who do not have early access to participate and for the early access people to settle.
(Yes I realise that it is an early launch event but...)

dont worry will be making one more event for Launch period in Ul'Dah~!
