Any advice for Goldsmithing level 40+?

Hello everyone!

I stopped playing FFXIV a few months after 1.0 was first released. I tried a bit of the beta, but didn't get a chance to really get a feel of what the crafting system is like. My goldsmith is at level 42, and I have no idea where to begin once the early access servers are up. I remember previously I relied on leves and crafting coral arrowheads over and over again. Do any level 50 goldsmiths have any advice for me?

Also, for those who played primarily goldsmith in 1.0, how valuable was the class? Were you able to make enough gold to support all of your other classes?

I was lvl50 before they made all these changes, so I really don't know what to level up on. See what levequests are having you make, furthermore do levequests. They give a ton of exp in ARR compared to 1.0. The difference is you have to use your own mats tho, but turning in HQ items gives a huge bonus, 300% I think it is unless they lowered it.

Also, every class will need jewelery, and GC makes the most of it. Leatherworker makes some chokers, rings, and writs, but GC makes the most of it. Either for use of for Materia fodder, GC would be the go to for most of it.

Agreed, try levequest giving ton of exp and HQ items gives huge bonus

If you have miner 40+, get to the electrum ore deposits SE of Camp Bronze Lake in Limsa. Electrum ores are so easy to come by and those items are an easy ride to 50. This is if you want to save your rested exp bonus and leves on other jobs.

What Richie said you get 200% bonus during levequest for turning HQ items, wouldn't be surprise if you get 40-50k XP per leave quest with that

Is goldsmithing still profitable on a legacy server? Or, do you think I would be better off starting over with less competition on one of the new ones?

Speaking of profitability, I'm tickled pink that goldsmith can make actual crafting accessories this time around. Every crafting class is going to need a set of those :3

I had a friend ask me what to craft around your range last night in terms of GSM. I went over the crafting log, and while I don't know the results in terms of how much vrs how difficult, I found that the Adamantose Shell Braclets appear to be the way to go. You can mine those from lvl 40 nodes, the synth only requires 1 of the shells each, and the recipie was lvl 49/50. Might be worth looking into if you can mine.

My goldsmith was level 43, I got one level last night just turning raw gemstones that my husband mined up into finished gemstones.

He got me 2 more stacks today, which I will be crafting up tonight and possibly making into accessories to sell.

However, I haven't really played around with many of the recipes to see if there's anything that gives higher xp, these were just easy synths for me.
