As a countermeasure against RMT activities, the probability of gaining items through gathering will start to decrease after repeated attempts over a long period of time. After a certain number of attempts, items will no longer be obtainable through gathering.
To explain a little more on what goes on behind the scenes, there is an internal counter which measures how often a player has attempted gathering activities. Players will start with a maximum pool of 2,500, which will decrease by 10 each time a gathering attempt is successful and yields an item. Once this number decreases to 1,000, players will find it harder to obtain items. At 0, items can no longer be obtained through gathering.
Stopping gathering for some time will bump this number back up. The recovery rate is currently set at 100 per hour.

I craft alot and I have not seen anything to indicate a limit. I think its just governed by the surplus/fatigue system. Would be nice for a dev to chime in and let us know though.

The grind is insane once you hit 41 or so. I just hit 46 leather and its taking SO LONG to get to 50 :X

My rule of thumb
1) If the mats are rare or too expensive, DO NOT grind into fatigue
2) If the mats are cheap as hell(weaving) who cares how bad it gets just keep going!
3) If the penalty gets too bad(40-50%) around that time youve been at it too long, time to switch -

Whenever I hit surplus I always stop. I just can't stand that lost SP. I just switch to another class, which is probably the reason its taking me so long to hit 50.

Actually, whats annoying too is that as we approach 50 we have no recipes that are above rank 50. So that means we are stuck grinding something 1 or 2 ranks above us for not much sp. In FF11 they had recipes that were above the maximum level you could reach, which would help us out here so we can get good sp as we approach cap.

the logs cost me 3000 each. The shards for each log cost me another 1000, so 1000 per lumber is the cost basicaly
now that lumber takes very few shards, so it brings my price per mask up to 1400.....
guess how much masks vendor for? around 1400
i spend NOTHING, so why not grind it into the ground?
as for my weaving, i actualy profit selling the cloth im making, so again, shard cost doesnt factor in.
Now in other crafts like LW(where the toadskins are too expensive) i tend to stop when i hit fatigue, but im also not focusing it up yet, when i do, i wont care anymore again(especialy when im past toad and the mats are cheaper) -

Brown toad vamps are basically the path from 42-50. There are some other finish items you can make but they take alot of mats and to me don't seem worth it. Luckily it's pretty easy to farm toad skins if you have a rank 45 or so combat class.Quote:

yeah see farming isnt that bad, I farm for a week or so as well when im really not feeling like leveling my combat classes which as of right now is a lot lol, this week i get the joy of farming buffalo hides if I can ever find the stupid mobs that drop em. Someone told me where they are but still i have no luck finding them.

You guys are lucky it sounds like, on my server yew logs are sold for 10-15k each, hog hides are 50-60k each, toad skins are 40-50k each.
Granted, I usually farm all my materials, but those prices are ridiculous. One thing it sounds good on our server is shard costs @ 150-170 for wind, 120-150 for earth etc... lower shard costs, but higher material costs.
East of Camp Glory is best place to farm buffalo hides and buffalo leather.
I usually stop grinding once I hit fatigue, unless the synth is super cheap or profitable. There are 18 classes and I usually end up with 7-8 in fatigue each week. Just switch classes, Fatigue hurts this game, doesnt help it. Bots will always exist, RMT will always exist, your hurting your main casual players more than RMT or bots. -

granted, im on a higher pop server, and we have an abundance of people who harvest i think.(besaid ftw!)
On the flip side of it all, If prices are overall higher on your server, your going to probably have more money on you anyway if you make it mostly by selling stuff so I guess it equals out.
As for fatiguing multiple jobs every week, Yeah if you are doing 7-8 fatigues a week(much like I am) you are a minority, someone who plays WAY more then they should lol.
The casuals ARE NOT the ones feeling this either so you cant say they are hurt by it, its us who focus 1 job insessively, or do so much during a week its just insane. Those of us who obviously need to get out more.
