Since in the square-enix store it says 9/1/2013 is the release date but we are getting the exact japanese import that will come out in 8/15/2013. I understand there might be delay because it is an import, but the "summoning soken" blog post said it was coming out in the middle of august. This contradicts the the store's message and seems to follow the japanese release date. So which date is true?

There's not really a contradiction since Soken is talking about the JP release, and not the NA or EU. -

I've been using CDJapan for many years, it's really the only place to get CDs and DVDs from the Japanese Artists I like. I've ordered so many Maaya Sakamoto CDs and concert DVDs/Blurays there (well, actually, all of them), that CDJapan have started adding random extra's like posters and stickers and whatnot ;)
Also a great source for anime and game soundtracks. Way back the Final Fantasy soundtracks over here were a compilation on only 1 CD, whereas the Japanese releases were 4 CDs, and they cost the same .. -

The customs here (The Netherlands) are rather lame.. It's not uncommon for them to hold packages for 3 weeks even during times when there's nothing much to do .. On top of that, they charge silly fees.. All in all FedEx usually ends up being a LOT faster, and often cheaper considering they handle all the import etc.
As for my soundtrack, it's taking quite the world tour it seems.. Yokohama (JP) -> Narita (JP) -> Sennan (JP) -> Shanghai (CN) -> New Delhi (IN) .. Still estimated to be delivered tomorrow though ;) -

Also, there's an option (when playing the disc on PS3 at least) to copy MP3 versions of all songs.. Hit square to bring up a small menu in the bottom left, go to extra's, and then in the top is a download MP3 option. Select it and you'll get an IP address. Enter it on a PC and you can copy the MP3s.. Very nice touch =) -

Actually, the physical disc is well worth it. For each song they have these stills and sometime in-game video, so you get a huge slideshow if you play all songs. Really loved all the visuals that came with the Good King Moggle Mog song =)

You can try YesAsia as well and see what kinda delivery cost they have. The soundtrack is worth it though, although not if you just want the minion .. In fact, the minion is pretty much the least interesting part of the soundtrack ;)
