Persona and You

Since the NDA is partially lifted to allow screenshots, I'm creating this thread for fun, but also curiosity about how people create their characters and if they try to make a character that looks like themselves. I'll start off.

I like trying to make a character to resemble myself in-game. XD

It's not exact, but it's similar. My character hair is a lot longer.

Kagatos char would need some glasses and there would be even more similarities :D

My char looks totally different than my real self. but sometimes I try to look like Esumi ;D

One day in the future I hope to tailor myself a Summoner garment from XIV and cosplay as my character to a Final Fantasy con or something. XD

This year I'm working on a Dragoon cosplay (also as my char Esumi)
I will die .. I know it. It's so damn hot outside xD

Haha, I don't think the Grimoire will be a problem since I can probably make one for FFXIV and just write, draw in all the pages in Eorzean. XD

My new character is/will be an old man (most likely elezen). So nope not at all haha.

It was hard to make a Miqote look like me and make it resemble a cat. I think they made the other races too human looking, so I opted to make my character look as much like a cat as possible.

This isn't a contest it's just what your character and you look like in comparison and/or if there are any similarities. :P

When I made Lumos, I did try to make her look as much like me as possible (as much as a Lala could look like a real person). Same hair color, eye color, and what not.

Now I've pulled up her data to make my latest Beta character. I changed the highlights and they are a little red. I like this change so far. I changed her eye shape (and decided I don't like it and will go back, lol). In running into various Lala NPCs in Ul'dah, I really like their looks as well and may incorporate some. I just love Momodi. There is also a purple hair Lala out at the Silver Bazaar. Now I'm not so into the purple hair, but her hairstyle is awesome. Just a pony tail directly on top of her head. Much more me. Not sure if I saw that option in character creation. Not sure I could take away Lumos' pigtails at launch either... considering also changing her eye color as well but idk, I am not sure I want to stray from keeping her like the real me or just branching out....

So basically I'm rambling. What do you guys think? LOL

I keep getting people asking me if that's a portrait of myself and I'm like, no it's just Final Fantasy XIV. XD

You did kind of cheat on this one though. You basically went in reverse. instead of basing your character off of yourself, you based yourself off of your character!

haha ya as I said my char doesn't look like me at all, except for the dark brown eyes ^^

I tried to import my persona but it broke the system.
Apparently there is a limit to how sexy your character can be.. :x
Instead I pretty much made the ugliest guy I could slap together. :)

My character represents an extension of myself, the way I see it.

However, I do not think he looks like me, considering he's the opposite gender :P I would post a picture of myself, but I do not have a recent one that's good, so you can have this eye candy instead.

Nah, me and Lumos don't look alike. I just made her as much to my description as I could. (My hair is not as dark as it looks in this pic below.) I will probably change her somewhat and she will have even less of my description. It just feels weird to do so. I have to get used to the idea.

What I've changed is, when I pulled up Lumos character data, her hair was more of a mustard shade then the light brown I had made. So I changed her base hair color to more what I thought I originally made it, and added the reddish highlights. I think I like the reddish highlights. I also changed her eyes, and in game I do not like this change. I will go back to her original eye shape I think. Her eyes here in Beta look cold and icey. The eyes before were friendly and warm. I may also change eye color because... basic brown eyes... maybe just too basic for mmo character. I don't know ... So much work will have to be done to create the perfect character. It's a work in progress for sure. :)

I've dyed my hair every color imaginable... so I don't think having green hair for my mithra is that outrageous. :P

I like how I don't match up with my character at all.

If I could put a decent beard on my dude, I'd maybe try to make him look like me. But the face type I like doesn't have anything good.

I made my new character look like me, but the eyebrows are wrong :\. Highlander doesn't have thick eyebrows.

I went back and liked your post just because you posted this... I normally don't like things often on here (because you can't see who liked it anyway) but... your comment inspired me. =P

I also like the WHM miqo'te cosplay... very detailed from what I can see! I'm actually working on a costume just like that... and then I will do SMN when there are detailed pics of the AF on a miqo'te. >_<;;

It's a like fest!! \o/

Some of these posts (mine included) remind me I wish glasses were an option in character creation, like tatoos or face/body marks, jewelry/makeup are. Something you could toggle on/off, maybe, and not count as head gear, like in game equipment glasses do. Plus the in-game equipment glasses just look like generic Harry Potter glasses and I don't wear Harry Potter glasses. :p I feel blind and don't look like myself without my glasses. Oh well! Maybe that will come in the future, perhaps in the beauty salons that Yoshi promises us.

I'm not a tall white lanky redhead, like my character.

About the only thing me and my character have in common is eyepatches and general whiteness. :P

I agree... being able to have glasses that aren't part of your armor (but more of an aesthetic, permanent thing) could be cool. Unfortunately, there are some pieces of armor that it probably wouldn't work for. A face mask, for instance, would easily 'conflict' with the glasses and it would just look weird.
