Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but is SE 'saving' room for each of the 'Legacy' Worlds to have room for brand new ARR players and their new characters?
I played 1.0 so my character is 'Locked' to a 'Legacy' World...but my husband will be joining me as a brand new player in ARR. Yay :D Is there anyway for me 'save' him a spot or is there something in place that assures there will be room for brand new players on 'Legacy Worlds'?
I would really hate to have to choose between staying with my 1.0 friends and keeping my 1.0 character progress or starting all over with my husband in a brand new world, simply because room wasn't saved for new characters on 'Legacy' worlds.

But every 1.0 character (even ones that were started, walked around town once, and abandoned) has a 'slot' on them. Also, since we're doing server transfers etc due to region, there is no promise that the world I'm on/transfer to won't become full. This is more what I'm asking. Is there a cap to how many 1.0 characters can transfer to a Legacy world so that there is some space left over for New Players?Quote:

I understand, YOU don't think it's a big deal. That doesn't mean that it's not worth asking about. Nor does it mean you KNOW what you are saying is to be true...you just assume it.
All I want to know is that SE saved some room, doesn't have to be alot, for our New Character friends to join us. Of if they have something like FFXI wherein players could purchase a 'ticket' to get a friend on a full (or almost full) server. (I think that's how my Husband got me on his server anyway...been awhile).

There is saved room. Like I said before, they would have to be complete idiots to not have considered this. If they thought that too many people might return to the legacy servers, they would have created additional ones flagged as Legacy (and they could also do this at basically any time if necessary, and allow both you and your husband to transfer there.)Quote:

Like I said, the worst case scenario is a temporary character creation restriction. There really shouldn't be any issues with this, and there really shouldn't be anything to worry about.
I may be making assumptions, but they're logical assumptions. There is no finite limit on number of characters saved on a server, only simultaneous logins. The ARR servers were stated to have a capacity of 5000 simultaneous connections (which realistically might amount to 10-15k players logging in and out within a 24-hour period). I haven't known any single 1.0 server to ever have more than ~1k simultaneous logins. The danger of there being no room for your husband is next to none. For every logged in player at a given moment, there may be several inactive/non logged in players.

The amount of "worry" and paranoia on this forum is way too high. People need to stop worrying and be a little more optimistic. Even if the servers were "full" right now, you know for sure that there will be some people choosing to start fresh (and playing on a new server) and some people not coming back ever.
They wouldn't have created 1:1 duplicates of the old servers if they didn't think they would be able to handle the likely population they have at the launch of the game. If the legacy servers were so full that they couldn't take new players, I don't think they would have told us that new players can join them. -

Now I understand that this could mean that the 'number of people we are allowing to transfer to these worlds is reaching it's cap' and that SE could have still slotted x amount of spots for new players, but confirmation of this would be nice. Afterall, it is completely plausible that a player signs up for a world, it reaches max capacity without their knowing (because unless you keep checking back, you wouldn't know) and then when they go to sign up a friend at launch, their friend is locked out.
As legacy gamers, we are locked to these worlds....please, give us a way to get friends on these servers with us. It is NOT okay with me that if my server fills and I wish to play with a new player I either:
1. Have to transfer to a different Legacy Server, potentially in a different Data Center than my ideal AND leave my 1.0 LS/friends to do so.
2. Have to leave my 1.0 character behind and re-roll a 'fresh' character from scratch losing all my progress, and leaving friends, and LS mates behind.
So please, assure us that room has been saved for new characters on Legacy worlds and/or that tickets similar to how FFXI worked could be made to ensure friends can play on the same servers. -

If it anything like last time transfer, servers will reopen up slots here and there for transfer till July 15, but now people have to camp it daily if want go to the full server. As for new players, they do reserve slots for this i believe, last time after merge, they allow for new characters and such to be made on these so called "fulkll" servers. I think it has alot to do with balancing the worlds out during transfer. :P
