You can change the language to what you prefer.
I'm with you on that ^^
Watched it first in English, flinched every time someone started talking, then immediately switched to Japanese and will be watching it off and on for the rest of the day.
I am so glad they're giving us the option of Japanese audio, no one does 'bad guy voice' like the Japanese voice actors do!
I don't think all of the english voices are bad, but some of them are definitely not that great.
I loved ifrit's voice, though... that one was perfect.
ya i agree some are really bad but all the voice actor are from many good animes. I know Steve Blum does someone in 1.0 and i think he doing that guy at the end of the video so it can't be all that bad.
But i may just stay with the Eng voice actor i don't want to read while playing a game i do that enough when watching anime.
listing to it again and i have to say the voice over look like it was done by fans lol what happen to the awesome voice actor we had in 1.0? at least there was 10x better.
Turned out just fine unless people were expecting them to adjust it to fit perfectly with the English. I loved Ifrits voice and Garuda was creepy, in a good way.
When the narration came on I actually thought I was listening to those joke voiceovers the staff did a while back.
for me, japanese voice and english subtitle would be perfect as usual.
After watching both I have to say; as mediocre as most of the English voices were in that trailer, I personally preferred them to the Japanese ones. The Japanese ones just seemed even more off for some reason.
Some of the english voice actors just felt like it didn't fit in. I did like the english garuda voice among other ones. My favorite for ifrit was the french one. I'll probably enjoy the JP one with english subs all together though.
For me, the german voices fit. All except the dude at the end with the mask, and Cid....aside from that, I think I'll be using the german voices XD.
I preferred the French voices over the English ones '_' It was that bad.
Yea, the English voice acting seemed to be sub-par. Still though, wasnt horrible - I really enjoyed the cinimatic :D Cant wait to play this game again!
Also, super glad to be able to post finally! Thanks SE!
+1
I don't mind good English Voice Acting (like Cowboy Bebop), but FF XIV's English VA is downright awful and cheesy. :( (Except for Flame General of Uldah.)
I'm so glad we can switch to Original Japanese Language with English Subtitles for 2.0; the Japanese Voice Actors sound awesome! :)
Sounds good to me, but I guess my tastes aren't as "refined". It's not like it was Bleach dub bad...
Good reason I like my stuff in native language (e.x anime in Japanese) /w subtitles ^^;;
funny is there one voice actor in ffxiv that did cowboy bebop. A lot of the voice actor are good actor from many other anime. I The few voice we listen to i guess are from not really known NPC so the good NPC would have the good known actor i'm guessing.
The voice at the end sound a lot like Steve Blum and he did a voice for FFXIV so i'm sure he back for ARR.
Don't tell me I didn't warn you.
Luckily the Japanese voice track will be one click away.
I'll take English, thanks! It was exciting to hear them speaking in my native language.
My only complaint is needs moar Claudia Black.
After listening to the trailer in all four languages my opinions on each character are as follows. Gaius is bad in all four, but is least worst in English. The Amal'jaa summoning Ifrit is best in Japanese. Ifrit is best in French. Garuda is best in English. Minfilia is best in English or French. Raubahn is best in English or German. Merlwyb is best in German. Kan-E-Senna is best in English. I prefer Cid's French voice, but think his English one fits the character best. And the crystal demise guy is best in English. Guess I'll be using the English voices. :/ My preference would be for them not to be voiced at all.
I'll take English, thanks. I want to be engrossed in the action in the cutscenes. Kind of hard to be when I'm reading words on the screen while the action is going on in the forefront. lol Besides, I don't think the English voices were all too bad.
