Curse 14 Reason to Play FFXIV ARR.... Chocobo Battles?

Wow Curse needs to get there facts right when trying to Promote Final Fantasy xIv ARR. Chocobo Battles!!! Really!? In the Video she gives off 14 reason to play FFXIV ARR. 10 of them are Good the other 4,...... well, she may be Cute but still no reason to mess up the Facts. -_-

To be honest, I laughed my ass off by the sheer fail, but promotion is promotion - even if it isn't fact-checked four times.

I'd love Chocobo battles as much as the next Miqou'te.

I wonder where they got that idea ingrained into their minds that that was confirmed.

Unless i've missed something lol.

I'm pretty sure they did mention chocobo battles as something they were looking at in one of the live letters. I do remember something about that.

Not sure if this is where they got it from but i recall this post and it's very very old =P

Here's something more recent from Massively after the media tour event back in february -

It mentioned that they have plans for players to be able to have their chocobos fight each other.

Maybe they know something we don't O.o

the first screenshot ever released of 2.0 had chocobos in battle.

SWTOR wins when it comes to having a NPC buddy, there the hands down champion. its almost like having another person playing with you.

SE needs to hit that level with the chocobo i sure hope it not as stupid as you fellow npc in FFXI.

Kind of hard when organizations like to put up pretty girls that have zero knowledge of the gaming industry just to lure people in. Wouldn't be surprised if she was given a script to read off of and knows absolutely nothing about FFXIV:ARR.

Is this the organisation that just ditched their FFXIV community site?

I wouldn't expect Curse to have their facts straight. They did cut loose their only FF14 fansite after all.

But enough about that. Whether she knows about XIV at all or not, she's talking about content that hasn't been clearly verified by SE. For all we know there could be Chocobo vs. Chocobo team battles. Choco on Choco action! But until it's confirmed for launch, we shouldn't treat it like it is. New players might look into it, find out it isn't there, and wonder what else she's lying about.

Um... I never heard about Chocobo battles, I heard of the buddy system but not that.

And since when was ARR running on Luminous, I always thought the official word was that the ARR engine was built from scratch with some parts cherry picked from Luminous.

Chocobo battles are a concept, nothing more. Probably not even in development yet.

ARR runs on a "cousin of the Luminous Engine" as I remember reading it. Luminous Engine is the base with many parts being modified specifically for a MMO.

You forgot the second part of my sentence. I'm glad the game was promoted, despite the fact that it wasn't fact checked. Are people like you just looking for something to take too seriously and criticize?

Promotion is promotion and other sites will inevitably make mistakes. Despite the mistake I'm happy the media is treating the game as a "you should play it" title (or at least a "give it a try" title). I'm also glad to see the unconfirmed chocobo battles quickly corrected by fans in the comments. The part that really had me face-palming and laughing wasn't that she listed a "wrong" reason, but that she repeated the one glaringly wrong reason 4 times lol. "In case you missed our mistake the first time, here it is again. and again. and again."

I'll also say though, there's so many new things in ARR that a lot of sites seem to get one or two things wrong in their articles. Hopefully this'll get better post E3 and as we get closer to release.

Curse takes the Chocobo battle thing straight from the article by Massively (link posted above), and while it's true that there has not been any new info about it, I don't see the point in the flames & trolls above.

Contribute to the article / this thread and correct the info given by Curse and show valid points.

I'll even start when I say in the article (link posted by Robobandit, see above), they say that you can take your Chocobo into dungeons, which I believe has been canceled.

Ok. I seen the threads that some of yall has posted and im sure many others has as well. But to my understanding its not going to be on the release date. It mite be for the future in the game but like I said its not on the release date. I have no problem with the promotion of FFXIV ARR. Since its not confirm she should have left it out of the video. She should have only stated what is going to be on the game on the release date. By her saying that in the video. Many people going to think that it is going to be in the game come August 27. Which is not right. That's my opinion

You don't see the point? The game isn't going to launch with a "Chocobo Arena," but she says so not once, but four times, as reasons to buy the game. If that isn't fail, I don't know what is. But promotion is promotion, and she gave some good reasons to play the game regardless. I laughed it off and made a joke about it - you're the one who interpreted it as trolling and flaming.

However, you're right (pains me to say) - I should contribute. After giving it some thought, the concept of Chocobo Arenas is actually a very good idea. I would like more possible ways to use Chocobos aside from field companionship and racing at the golden saucer. The more, the merrier, especially when you consider that Chocobos are a staple in gaming culture. Perhaps by winning in arena matches, you could save up chocotokens and buy special sets of barding and special Chocobo skills? Or even better - a fat chocobo limit break? Every real-life year there could be a huge arena event where the first, second, and third-place Chocobos receive visible medals and the owner gets a special title?

The saddest thing is that she KEEPS mentioning it.

i think they said you will be able to take your chocobo into dungeons later on but right now they want real players to experience it rather than npcs. not sure if they updated on that comment
